Overall a nice place with good seating indoors and outdoors. Not too much shade in the outdoor patio.Food and drinks are good. Staff are friendly as well.

Food: Tasty Service: On point Ambiance: Patio was perfect cause the weather was rightChicken Enchiladas plater was very good but, I was surprised to see that most menu items are almost always al carte cause, you have to add meat to dang near every player for an $2-4.The drinks are $9-12 and also charge extra $2 for flavor which is not cool. Again, my enchiladas were good but, my girl ordered tacos but, she did not like her food and that she ordered beef tacos they did BOTH have. Agree if cheese on them, nor tomatoes or sour scream...she kept saying $17 for steak in a taco shell.I ended up paying for her dinner since I hate when that happens to me (meaning I go out to eat & pay for a meal I disliked).Even though she was able to switch out her taco player for nachos, it was sad that she still had to pay extra for a protein on nachos. Which is crazy cause you generally get a meet & shrimp or steak I can see as an up grade. Being since they do not serve ground beef she decided no on adding a protein. Well, again the prices have really gone up & you will pay extra for a lot of items so this is your warning. Service is pretty good but, you're going to pay for eating downtown. P.S.: Zocalo- Please make your combine you menu into a 1 click menu. It makes absolutely no sense at all to separate out all your items as this cause your customers to take to long to scan a bar code due to no menus in this new age of after Covid & technology...To have to wait till each category opens (which was slow for my phone as well as my friend phone) as going through your menu was like an escape room...wayyyyyy too time consuming & confusing. Just simply your menu cause, customers do not want to decide & close if 7-8 different categories...starters; drinks; lunch; brunch; happy hour; specialties; etc; etc etc is wayyy too many clicks when each category pulls up only like 5itens then you have to close out only yo go into another category then your back it the sane continued search!Never have I ever experienced such a situation to decide what I want to eat.Again please simply (combined all items) just under menu. Or break the category down to like 4 lunch; dinner; drinks; happy hour.

I forgot to take pictures AGAIN I hadn't been to Zocalo in years (maybe 3-4). Stopped in for dinner on a Tuesday. It took a little minute for us to be greeted by a server as there wasn't a hostess on this night. I ordered the nachos (without crema, pickled jalapeños & guacamole). I opted for fresh onions and fresh jalapeños instead. initially, came out with crema (which I thought was drizzled queso and pickled jalapeños. Initially, I was ok picking off the jalapeños but I do not like sour cream. I sent my food back and the server had it made over the correct way I requested. My guest ordered the taco trio (grilled chicken) and added an additional taco (steak). After finishing his tacos, rice and beans he ordered a grilled chicken quesadilla to-go. My food arrived as he was finishing his meal. In addition to my food, I ordered a passionfruit margarita on the rocks (it was great, not too sweet). We both had water to drink (still). We opted to sit on the inside because it was a little chilly, but if you know the restaurant you know you still feel all the elements from the outside. Our total was just under $70.

Food was fine. Service was super mediocre. I understand servers/managers wanting to leave work as soon as the restaurant closes but doing your side work and neglecting the customers who are still consuming is such a bad look and creates an extremely negative experience for your guest. Also, I paid $13 for a don julio margarita which is reasonably priced but then they charged me $4 for the salt, sweet n sour, lime juice and straw??? $17 for a super entry level right above a Well Margarita? I'm wondering if they'd charge your separately for the coke if you order a Jack Daniels and coke? Would they charge you for the Tito's vodka then the cranberry juice separately if you'd order a cape cod? Just seems like a money grab, not worth the value. There are better Mexican restaurants you could give your service to. Wouldn't recommend

In classic birthday fashion (5 out of 6 years), I had to have Mexican food for my birthday, so I made my way to Zocalo Mexican Kitchen and Cantina.Zocalo is located in the heart of Midtown, Atlanta, and is an institution. The restaurant's founder, Marco Martinez, loved to visit his grandfather's farm outside of Mexico City. His father, positioned in Mexico's foreign service, ultimately bought the family to the United States. After some encouragement from his father, Marco went to the fast-growing Atlanta to open his restaurant in 1995.Zucalo was the first in the area to bring homemade Mexican food, not the Tex-Mex variety. What was ordered: GuacamoleQueso Chicken Fajitas The guacamole was delicious, and the best kind is made fresh in front of you.The queso was melting gooey cheesy and was an excellent compliment to the guac. I almost filled up on the Antojitos (appetizers in Spanish), instead of ordering birthday tacos.. I chose chicken fatijas... The chicken had a smoky flavor with slightly caramelized onions and a little crunch with the green peppers. I was so mad I left these leftovers because they were needed for the road trip back to the DMV.

Came here for the first time on a hot summer day and was surprised to find out the restaurant is open so it is HOT even with the ceiling fans going! The service was good and quick since we came in on a weekday and there were very few people in the restaurant. The food was ok, not bad not great, and fairly priced. We ordered the tacos and guacamole to share; they were both good. Parking is easy as there is a large lot in the back.

A cool dining experience. The atmosphere is vibrant and inviting, with good music and nice people watching in a comfortable setting. The food is delicious, featuring authentic Mexican flavors, and the service is top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff. Valet parking is available, but there's also convenient street parking nearby. Highly recommended for a cool afternoon out.

Got there at about 630 on Friday. No wait. It's a smaller place with a lot of outdoor seating. If you are looking for fancy this isn't it. We were greeted fast. Our waitress was super polite and did a nice job even though it appeared she had a lot of tablesI got a frozen margarita and my daughter got a special margarita. Our waitress apologized that the drinks took a long time. The bartender was backed up. My daughters special margarita wasn't the special, it was just a regular so we had to get the bill adjustedAs slow as the drinks were the food was the opposite. I got the enchiladas with veggies and my daughter the nachos and we shared both. Really tasty. I'd recommend both. The enchiladas came with beans and rice which both were goodAlso got complimentary chips to start which were warm and came with a really nice salsaI had been here years ago for a work dinner and was very disappointed. Today was the opposite. Really nice and I'll be back for sure.

Came here for a group dinner on a Friday night and did not have the best experience. I enjoyed sitting on the outdoor patio because the weather was nice. But once we sat down, it took awhile for a server to acknowledge us. Then when we finally got a server she was not very attentive and took a long time in between helping other tables. The food was just ok. We started off with trio of salsa, queso, and guacamole. That was good but when it came time for the entrees my food came out cold. I order the chicken quesadillas with a side of rice. I may try this place again but my first experience was not the best.

What's with the attitude with all the new employees. Since being under new ownership, the staff is extremely bitchy. The food is dog shit. Used to be a good place to sit out on the patio but the hassle just to get a server to take an order isn't worth it. Pass if you want to enjoy your afternoon or evening.
