A welcoming place that whips up very good pizzas, calzones and cheesesteaks for reasonable prices. It's laid back and casual, no pretense. There's enough of that downtown. But if you want tasty meals away from the tourist hub bub, go for Zio's. I really recommend the Sicilian pepperoni by the slice, the Italian calzone is awesome, and the cheesesteak Royal bursts out with layers of flavor. Awesome value!

I was surprised by the pizza I was served at Zio's. All the brick oven pizza I've had in the past had the really crispy, delicious, partially blackened crust. Zio's had none of that. My first clue that I was in for disappointment was that it took a long time for me to get my pepperoni pizza slices. A brick oven pizza normally has such a high temperature that the pizza cooks really fast. Then just looking at the crust I was suspicious. I should have watched to see if they are actually using the brick oven. Instead, I immediately sat down at a table in the back after I ordered. The crust was the floppy NYC style crust. It was strange that although the crust wasn't that crispy, half the peperoni's were overcooked and slightly hard. It is pizza, so I still got some enjoyment out of eating it. But Zio's did not serve me the brick oven pizza I was expecting.

Just moved to PHL & this place is awesome. First off, I LOVE the employees; they're all very welcoming, friendly, and quick which is a plus. On top of that, the pizza is delish! My fav is the margarita slice, but the mushroom slice is also bomb. Lately, I've been ordering the vodka pasta and it is just addicting. I never get tired of it! Definitely recommend this spot.
