Lunch special is very good. Everything tastes great. The steamed fish is really fresh and delicious. Service is all right. Will definitely come back for more dishes.

Every time I visit Houston, I make sure to have at least one meal at Yuan Ten. It's no nonsense Chinese food at its finest! This restaurant has been around for a long time, but don't expect to get the traditional service here. There's no small talk or smiles unless you know Cantonese or Mandarin. Truly a hole in the wall with mismatched furniture and old decor. What they do best is offer delicious traditional Cantonese dishes that will leave you belly full and happy. We usually order the: Roasted Duck: crispy skin and tender meat that's perfectly marinated.BBQ Pork: sweet and slightly salty and covered in it's signature red colorWonton Soup: a bowl of comfort! The wonton dumplings are tender and the broth is light and flavorful.Seafood with Tofu Clay Pot: served bubbling hot with fish balls, mussels, shrimp, tofu and veggies. The prices have increased over the years, but still affordable. Everything is made to order so call ahead if you can or be prepared to wait a little if you order at the restaurant.Overall a great place for a quick traditional meal.

True Cantonese food recommended by a friend who spend 10 yrs in that region in China. We had soup, roast duck, clay pot beef and ginger onion oysters.Everything was tasty but not outstanding, the best was the duck. Roast duck is different than Peking duck, it's more supple and juicier than Peking duck. The mustard greens soup with salted duck egg was a nice touch of home, stuff grandma used to make.Over all I would recommend to try this place just because it's specialty in Canton Cusine. The menu is pretty big and should be something for everyone in the family. Clay pot dishes are like stews and crock pot style foods and it's a great alternative to the typical stuff from other Chinese restaurants.

This food establishment has been here like forever. I thought I had written a review a couple of times. Nonetheless here's another short one.Pros:Lunch specials -- no frill a la carte with steamed rice ~ $5 or $6BBQ rice plates for easy nothing to think about orderPrices -- totally affordable Cons: Service -- for some it may a con but if you consider language barrier as a reason for miscommunication and the level of service then it is not a big deal. This is coming for a non-Chinese-speaking Chinese descent person.Kinda hole in the wall. Don't be alarm though I never had food poisoning here and I ate here more than 20 times at least. It is a solid place for a quick authentic hole-in-the-wall Chinese place in China town. I take it for what it is so I give this place a 4-star rating.

So you applied for a job here? Yuan Ten others! Hopefully out of the 11 of you, you will get hired! For BBQ pork and Peking Duck and things like this, then this is one of my go-to restaurants in Chinatown. It's tasty and it's somewhat cheap and it's traditional and I think it's a great option.I have to explore the menu a little bit more extensively other than the things that I and the regulars always get, because I do a lot of weight lifting and usually afterwards I need some protein. And I don't love duck, maybe it's a psychological thing, although the duck here is remarkable. It has an extensive menu and I'm excited to try different aspects of it.

Delicious Vietnamese food and friendly staff. The decor is beautiful and it's usually quiet in the dining area. Prices are reasonable and good sized portions.

Delicious, large portioned, well-priced, no frills Cantonese food with extremely affordable prices. This is a spot to add to your rotation. The highlights:Salt-pepper stuffed eggplant: Deliciously fried eggplant with shrimp paste inside, lightly breaded and fried. Amazing.Pi-Pa Tofu (chef's special tofu..?): Another lightly fried item full of flavor. If you haven't had this dish elsewhere before, you can thank me laterBBQ dishes: The bbq pork is delicious, with just the amount of fat to meat ratio. Sauced nicely tooGreen beans: Nice and crunchy, not overcooked or overly saltyPork with preserved vegetables: Full of flavor and lots of pork in here. worth a try if you're into these things!Pro tip: Lunch specials are super affordable and the portion sizes are huge as well. Service was very quick and there are many larger parties that come in. Come hungry!

One of my brothers was in town for business. He was in the mood for traditional Cantonese foods since none was to be found in Washington DC. He preferred the hole in the wall type because of the ambien and cheap prices. Yuan Ten answered his desires perfectly. The strip center and the interior were old. The bathroom was a little stinky with questionable soap. Of the two waitresses, one was nice. But the other one was bitchy, but I kind enjoyed her vibe. The lunch specials were $7.50, which was cheap. We also ordered some dishes from the regular menu. Everything tasted great and not overly MSG seasoned. Yeah, I don't mind returning if I am in the area.

Spicy fried fish is amazing. I would highly recommend. The kung pao chicken is also amazing! My girlfriend and I can't get enough of this place. My family has been coming here for years. I would give my left lung and half an aortic valve for this place. Thank you for your service.
