Food isn't tasty, pictures look tasty, seeing the food in person also doesn't seem tasty.This is very good for a quick meal, the service, and the friendliness. Good laughs the hear some Asians playing their phones.Food might not be tasty, but you'll won't feel bad spending $7.50 for 2 meats and 2 veggies, rice, and with refills of soup. ;D

I've been there a few times. Nothing fancy, they won't win any awards for presentation but the food is tasty. Just get whatever looks appetizing that day and don't be too adventurous, and you can have a heartwarming meal.The plates come with a good mix of meats and vegetables, which is great because so many restaurants hardly serve vegetables anymore. Healthy food and a good value.

Amazing Traditional Taiwanese pick-your-dish restaurant. Came to check it out because of my cousin, Demi's recommendation and it definitely did not disappoint. It's near the corner of the Dynasty plaza on Bellaire Blvd but it is actually closer to Corporate Dr & Clearwood Dr, next to Saigon Pagolac. If you can read Mandarin it's easy to spot the "He Chu Mi" bistro, interesting name because they are actually registered as "Yellow River" restaurant. Oh, and remember to bring cash since it is CASH or CHECK ONLY!There're two entry doors at each end of the restaurant, making a fast & convenient getaway. Inside you will find the items lined nicely under the glass display. Seating is sparse probably around 32 people max, nice especially during the Pandemic.The serving ladies are very friendly and welcoming, speaking fluent Mandarin & Taiwanese. Feels like I'm back in Taiwan. With the classic Taiwanese pick-your-dish buffet, you get to pick and choose 2 vegetable items and a meat item along with the carbohydrate item (rice, noodle or vermicelli). Tastes amazing! Well seasoned and submerged in amazing sauce, which brings out the freshness of the vegetables. The chicken is also extremely well flavored. I grew up in Taiwan so have very high standards for "authentic" Taiwanese foods and this is one of the most authentic ones I've been to.Also since it is cash only, I almost had to go to the bank and withdraw cash after ordering all my items. Fortunately another customer said they also take checks, so that's how I paid. The registrar lady was kind enough wanting let me eat then go to the bank, and even brought me back 50 cents because I overpaid with check. Unparalleled integrity!Will definitely come back to try more authentic home-made items. Keep up the good work He Chu Mi/Yellow River!

Great home style Chinese food. Sell by plates , normally two meat and two veggies choice and rice Many vegetable choices and great varieties of meat dishes also. If you dine in, there's also complimentary soup

New owner same old food. This place has been a staple fast food restaurant in bellaire. Always a long line of people. Good and cheap food. Now accept credit cards I usually go there for Taiwanese chicken rolls, ba tsang and meat pie which are delicious

Wow very very authentic! Small local restaurant. Nothing is in English. The format is a small menu with a buffet style ordering. The people and service were very nice and good. We did dine in and there are just a few tables as you can see in the pic. The time of day was lunch time and we were able to get a table. The food was excellent. It was not hot but it was good. Plenty of traffic. Again a local, authentic, good food restaurant. I will visit again

Very affordable lunchbox place. You can get two meat and two vegetable for ~$7. They have a decent selection of entrees for you to pick from. When you show up determines what you get to choose from. You can also order from the menu but that will take longer. The selection isn't always what you like and some of the dishes just didn't fit my exact taste.

My friend introduced me to liang mian from this restaurant, and I love it soo much. The crunch of the veggies are so refreshing, the noodles are bouncy, and the sauce is so so good! It's also only $5 and one box of liang mian is two meals for me. They also serve other dishes cafeteria style, but I haven't had the chance to try them. Looks good though! Highly recommend their liang mian

In Chinese this place is called he chu mi.I've eaten here many times over the years while I was growing up and through the many ownership changes. Overall I think this place is great for a quick bite where you can just choose what you wanna eat, sit down, chow down, get out fast, and the price is fairly reasonable. I think my main complaints are the food doesn't taste as good as it used to. Portion sizes are smaller and many of the items I used to get are no longer there. I'd probably only come back here if my parents wanted to eat here like this visit.

First time coming here! It's nice getting my exposed to the local Chinese restaurant and delicious foods! My friend introduced me this place and it was a great choice for us to be here! Service is good and the generous portion for the price! $7.50 for rice and 4 side dishes of your choice! I enjoyed my vegetarian meal a lot! I like the local cafeteria vibe! When I come to this area, I'll be back again! :) Come and enjoy the meal! Cheers
