We came here for Valentine's dinner and had a really nice time. It was actually I first visit here. Please don't be deterred by the outside, which does it no justice at all. It's very pleasant inside and nicely decorated. Our waiter couldn't have been more attentive or nice.Our food was very good! The dinners come with salad, soup, rice, and either carrots or grilled zucchini and onions. I had the tempura and teriyaki chicken as my entre. The chicken was very good and the tempura was plentiful. It was all more than I could finish so I had enough leftovers for another meal. My spouse had the steak and scallops, which she enjoyed, although she remarked that the scallops were small, but good.All in all we had a really nice experience and would definitely return.

I have eaten here a few times, mostly for dine in lunch or take out. The staff has always been nice. The restaurant from the street frankly looks a bit sketchy and I was hesitant for a long time to try it. However, I have enjoyed the food, and it's a great place for a very casual meal. The one criticism I will add is that with my last visit, the quality seemed a bit lower than usual. The salad was very plain, the yellow tail was not as delicious as I had remembered it, and so perhaps it was simply an off day. I would still go again, and plan to!

Walked in was greeted immediately and sat us down immediately which is very welcoming kudos! Ambiance was ok had some music playing, place was a little outdated and not the cleanest but def both the worst, I got the Flounder and sea scallops Dinner special that came with soup, salad, rice and veggies it was ok was a little bland and a bit greasy for my liking but again wasn't the worst, and my wife got the California Roll which was good but the cuts of the sushi was way off she had big pcs and small pcs and the shrimp tempura which was sad cause it looked good and had good flavor but the tempura was a flimsy and not crunchy which was a bust, would like to try again another day hopefully it's better night!

Came to Yamato for the first time for dinner tonight. The restaurant was fairly quiet when we came in, and our server was friendly, kind, and attentive. My parents ordered the dinner entrees (flounder and teriyaki beef) which I tried a bit of. The teriyaki sauce was flavorful and the vegetables were cooked well, however the rice that came along with meal tasted a bit off to all of us. My sisters and I ordered a few sushi rolls. The Yamato roll was fresh and tasty, but only came with 5 pieces. The menu did not specific how many pieces came with each roll, so I wasn't sure what to expect. The rolls were good, but not the best that I have ever had. Overall, not a bad meal, but there was definitely room for improvement.

Very disappointed! I paid $60 for my to go order. I ordered:Hibachi Chicken zucchini, and onions side of seafood sauce/white sauce - house salad and clear soupGrilled Flambe Shrimp with carrots side of seafood sauce/white sauce - house salad and clear soupGinger dressing and ranch Spicy crab roll Cabbage I will never again in my life eat Hibachi from this restaurant! The rice and chicken was so dry ... the "seafood sauce" aka white sauce was meh! If I went back it would be for the salad and clear soup and you can pretty much get that from anywhere! I agree with the other person, it's a diner like restaurant, nothing that is nice and fancy like the menu would have you to believe. The sushi was okay, I've had better but it good! Not $17 good but meh! Next time I'll just grab a taco from the food truck across the street, I'm sure it's better than this place.

This is NOT a traditional hibachi table show - it's closer to fast food hibachi. But it tasted good and the service was solid. If this casual fare is what you're looking for this place isn't a mistake.

The best hibachi in the Triangle and surrounding area! This is the type of hibachi that I grew up on and the way it should always be. I haven't had quality hibachi at this level in a long time. I went with the hibachi steak, which came with fried rice, broccoli, carrots, and the yum yum / shrimp sauce. The portion was just right for the quality. The fried rice complimented the protein and veggies, flavors were just right. The shrimp sauce was on point -- that's how you make the sauce! Overall, customer service was top-notch! Shout out to my waiter/waitresses for being at the top of their game! The parking lot was a bit hard to get in during the dinner rush but it's worth finding a parking space.

Not at all authentic. Very bland. Ordered teriyaki chicken and was not sauced at all. Very little chicken was in plate. Maybe about 6 pieces of Chicken on entree plate. Would not recommend.
