Came here for a quick lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Staff was friendly. Decor inside was nice. I ordered the pad kee Mao and really enjoyed it. The noodles tasted fresh, good balance between the sauce and spices. I tried to get it extra hot given it's a thai spot, their hottest was as hot as actual thai spicy but had a nice kick to it. Overall really tasty and would come back!

Someone told me this was the best (affordable, not Kalaya-priced) Thai food in Philly, so I wanted to try it. I wasn't that impressed, felt more like a regular neighborhood Thai place. The restaurant was packed on a Friday night - definitely make a reservation! The dishes were a bit overpriced, but not bad! Calamari ($18) was definitely star of the show - super yummy, crispy, and lightly marinated in an addicting seasoning. The main dishes were just okay - we got the green curry, khao soi wasn't very flavorful, and Thai beef basil was a little watery. Vietnamese summer rolls were really small too.

Great little Thai spot that has the classics. The Asian dumplings are served with a perfectly spicy dipping sauce that I wish I had kept through the meal. Lettuce wraps were fresh and delicious - the perfect amount and great to share. I ordered the pad see when (special item) and it was a chicken and shrimp dish served over glass style noodles with peppers. I wish it was spicier but it was a delight. The basil chicken was popular at our table. This would be a dependable take out or regular Thai spot if I lived in town. You know what you're getting and I can't see it really disappointing.

Xiandu is a mix of Thai and Indian cuisine, a rare setup you see in the city. They have high tops and bar seating on the first floor (street level) with tons of seating up the set of stairs. The quality of the food and speed it comes out is great, with the only recommendation of sticking to "typical" dishes of that cuisine you're looking for. For example, the shrimp Thai green curry is FANTASTIC. The Dan Dan noodles... not a much (but still good don't get me wrong). The dumplings were very well made with tons of filling which I feel isn't always the case and a great dipping sauce. Great for big parties (there were a number of 8+ groups) that were easily accommodated. Reasonably priced, good food, will be back.

Awesome Thai spot in center city. Some competition from nearby places, but Xiandu really holds its own. Love their takeout as well!

Alright so we are in Philly for the weekend and I was so excited to try Xiandu Thai! I was slightly disappointed but overall we had a great experience. We had a reservation and were seated at our table right away! The atmosphere is really great here and would be nice not only for a date night but also for dinner with girlfriend's. We got calamari as an appetizer, and then for our entrees we ordered DanDan noodles and Pad Thai. The calamari was horrible! While the fish itself was fresh it was massively over salted. We are maybe 3 pieces and couldn't touch it anymore. Calamari is one of our favs and have had it in numerous countries and know how it should be cooked. This was NOT it. The server took it back and requested to expedite our entrees which we appreciated. The DanDan Noodles and Pad Thai were absolutely delicious! Some of the best we have had! Super flavorful, not overly spice and cooked to perfection. Our waitress came back and said the chef tried the calamari and didn't think it was salty -- color me shocked! You can literally see the salt in the photo. What annoyed me the most was they took the non eaten calamari and then still proceeded to charge us for it. If you were gonna charge for me it then I would have just taken it home and ate it drunk when I didn't taste the mounds of salt. Either way, we paid for everything and all in all were generally happy but I will NOT ever order the calamari from there again when we are in town. I'm very big on principal and I just don't think this restaurant hit the mark in terms of it but everything was great!

Takeout Review Got the pad kee mao and pineapple fried rice, but was really disappointed with both. The noodles were really mushy and soggy and the flavor of the dish was mostly salty. The pineapple fried rice was quite bland. I would not recommend Xiandu Thai for takeout, might be willing to try it in person to see if the quality is different.

If you are looking for some really good Thai food this is place! For starters they have outdoor seating which I absolutely love. Another plus for me was the full service bar, with lychee martini as an option on cocktail menu. (My favorite drink) The Thai ice tea which is another fave was meh, it tasted watered down. I ordered spicy pineapple fried rice (spicy level medium hot) very flavorful. If you don't like curry this might not be the dish for you. The Tom yum soup and the Thai chili lemongrass stir fry was SO delicious!!!! I was very hesitant on ordering the lemongrass verse the Thai basil which is my typical go to. I'm SO glad I stuck to my decision because that was one of the best stir fries I've ever had. Last but not least the bok choy was very good as well. The staff was very friendly as well, I'll definitely will be returning next time I'm in Philly.

Great place, staff is quick and attentive.. some good vegetarian options as well.. taste never disappoints on any of the standard dishes (pad thai, yellow/ green/ red curries etc.).. they have some good drinks as well.. there's this lovely lady (think she might be the owner) who takes time to come and check or have a polite conversation with you..
