Wilson Bros Barbecue

We stopped in here on a Sunday, on the way home from Hampton Roads. It's a no frills restaurant that seems to be frequented by locals. We seated ourselves and waited to be acknowledged. Once the server came she was very nice and kept checking on us.Service is a bit slow, it took a while for our food to come. The complimentary hushpuppies and bread were the best thing I ate. I ordered the grilled blackened salmon with cabbage and mashed potatoes with gravy. The entire meal was BLAND!! Everything on my plate lacked flavor. My husband ordered ribs, collards and Mac n cheese. The ribs were OK, the membrane on the back needed to be removed. The Mac n cheese was decent. The collards tasted like a bottle of hot sauce had been poured in them. Definitely expected more from a BBQ and Seafood restaurant.

I like a good family restaurant and this is no exception I had the Barbeque sandwich and honestly I wouldn't order again It was chopped to small for me and did t have any real flavor even with the 2 kinds of bbq sauce offered Cole slaw was good and hush puppies were fresh and some of better had in good amount of time guest with me had the fried oysters and shrimp and they were very good Of note - really clean restrooms So I recommend just not thebbbq sandwich Next time I would like to try the brisket

Slow service and not very good. I used to eat lunch there quite a bit but it hasn't got better but worse at least the are open on Monday

We have enjoyed Wilson's Barbeque for years. We recently had a barbeque dinner there and it was AWFUL, full of fat and gristle. We will not go back.

The dining room could use a good cleaningThe entrees where not served together and food was warm at best

Home cooking at its best Food is very seasoned and tasty People are very friendly and helpful I had the fish and they were very good Vegetables where so good especially the pickle beets Clean on the inside as well

The food is not so good, and the way they treat you is not very good either. And between a small sandwich and fries it was 15 dollars. One of the worst restaurants in South Hill.

Went this evening to try their oysters and shrimp. Both were very good. The salad was good as well. The hush puppies were excellent as were the onion rings. I do not recommend the oyster stew - very bland, tasted like warm milk. . Sadly the service was very poor. We waited an hour for our meal, when it did come it pretty much arrived all at one time. Minus a part that we never did receive. The salads, hush puppies and stew could have easily been delivered early but they weren't. Bottom line with better service I would try again but that is hard to predict.

This is one of my favorite places to eat in town. The food is great. The service is a little slow, but it's worth the wait. PSA: this is NOT a place for vegans or people on a diet.
