Service was kind of bad - not super friendly and didn't ask about specifications. Restaurant vibes were also weird cause it was semi empty on a Thursday night - like five tables occupied including our own. Valet is required and actually costs $8, not the advertised $7. It's only $7 if u pay cash but it adds a $1 transaction fee on the link they send u to pay through. Got food poisoning! Ordered raw oysters and boiled shrimp appetizers along with a salmon salad. The waiter also didn't ask if I wanted dressing on the side and i forgot to specify so my salad came like drenched in dressing. The drinks were meh. Not worth the price!

Willie G's is slipping and it's sad to see. I go 2-3 times a month and we've had bad food experiences the last few times. Last week the garlic bread had 4 dots of mold on the top. Couldn't miss it! I even opened the magnifier/flashlight on my phone to further inspect lol... yep! Green dots with white fuzzy perimeters. That's mold, friends. The waiter tried to argue with me that it was garlic lol. We were celebrating so I wasn't going to get into a back-and-forth with the waiter but he was wrong and never should have gotten so defensive. Just bring a new loaf of garlic bread, apologize, and move on. Denying its very existence was strange. Last night, I ordered my usual wedge salad, no blue cheese, same as my friend. Hers was fine. Mine looked like they dumped a cup of ground pepper on top. I like pepper but this was insane! Obviously, I had to send it back. Was the food expediter out sick last night? I imagine several people saw this salad before it went out. How did no one think to say, "uh, those two salads don't even look the same. Maybe we should get a shovel and scrape off some of that pepper." Disappointing. Also, the last few times they've undercooked the scallops. I love a nice sear and these didn't have it. We always order the grilled seafood platter as an app and the scallops, my fav part, have been under. The shrimp were perfect. I've recently been going to Clark's Oyster Bar (weekly) and I'm finally trying Little's Oyster Bar next week. Willie G's hasn't really had serious competition until now. Clark's is my new fav place which is why I've cut back on Willie G's. I have a lot of friends and family who insist on Willie G's but I used to go of my own volition and that has changed. They're losing me. The quality of their food has gone down, the prices have gone up, and their competition is kicking their butt. Just saying! On the plus side: service is still impeccable and I love their valets! Shout out to the black, short guy who I believe is the manager. I'll get his name and revise this review later. He's a sweetie and they always keep my car up front. It's the little things... lolWillie G's, don't make me quit you :(

Giving 2 stars because the food was mostly okay (might have enjoyed it a lot more if I didn't get in a mood from the below expectation service). In May of 2022, I visited the restaurant with my fiance and his mom for her birthday. I came from Dallas to take her to dinner. On the day of her birthday, we were informed that the gas line was out (I think this impacted restaurants in the area) and that many meals on the menu were unavailable. Mind you, they waited until we were seated and had waited for someone to finally attend to us to let us know that (at that point, I wondered if they were just not interested in our business because no one came to speak with us for a while). After reviewing what was available, we decided to leave and find somewhere else to go to. I didn't write a negative review at the time because I recognized that it was not their fault (but if you go to reviews from May 2022, you'll see some reviews about it). Anyway, I had been telling his mom that I owed her dinner at Willie G's and that I was going to come to Houston to take her back. I had studied the menu and even had a list of stuff I was excited to try. I am pregnant and will have my baby by her next birthday, so I decided to come to Houston to celebrate her early birthday at Willie G's. I am not allowed to fly, so we drove down - just to keep my word about taking her there. When I made the reservation weeks before, I wrote a whole "essay". I explained the situation, asked that they make her feel special, told them I was coming down just for time...I was sooo excited about the information I had shared with them and just expected them to acknowledge my notes. We encountered some traffic on the way to the restaurant, and I called over 30 minutes before our 7:15 reservation time to say that I would be 10 minutes late and I was told that my seat would be kept for me and that we had a 15 minute grace period. We ended up being 5 minutes late. When we arrived, we were made to wait another 10 to 15 minutes (our table was not ready). Then we were seated and put on our appetizer orders. I got the: Bang bang shrimp, Tiger prawn dumplings, Sea bass bites, Crab cake, Rockefeller oysters. And we also got 2 mocktails and an old fashioned when we placed the appetizer orders. I would typically write reviews about the food...and share photos, but I'll pass on that. I expected to have bread brought to my table. I felt like I had to "beg for bread" for it to finally be brought to me. Our server seemed to be overwhelmed. She seemed like a nice person, but she seemed super busy and didn't really have time to engage with us. Typically, we are bog foodies and we enjoy the idea of the waiter letting us know how we are doing with our order selections - something. There was none of that. She would say she would be back and we had to signal for her to come back. We started realizing that the best way to engage with her was to ask her for everything we needed while she was with us. For dinner, my fiancé's mom got the grilled gulf shrimp, my fiance got the gulf snapper Melissa's and I got the seared scallops. We also got the oyster bar trash, crab fried rice and fries. And two more mocktails. Again, I would typically review the food - but I won't bother. For dessert, we got the crème brûlée and the butterscotch bread pudding. At this point, I was HOPING they would acknowledge my fiancé's mom. I had asked them to make her feel special. No - I didn't need them to give me anything complementary. I am always happy to pay for my food. I just wanted her to feel special. I wanted to know that the drive to Houston to celebrate her birthday was a good one. NOTHING! Typically, when my fiance and I go out to eat (we go out to eat A LOT - food is our thing), we talk about the menu and rank each meal and say what we liked best etc. We didn't bother. I think he knew I was bummed. He asked if I would go back to Willie G's and I simply said "no". And that was the end of it. He knew it wasn't necessarily about the food. But he also knew I didn't want to talk about the food. Overall, they gave the impression that they cared about the guests, we had someone (probably the manager), come to the table to check on us - but it didn't seem sincere. The meal total was $345 and o paid $410 total (I still gave an approximately 20% tip - but not because I felt they deserved it...but just because). I woke up this morning and thought about last night again and decided to write this review. I am not happy. I won't say don't go to Willie G's. My review is probably not completely reflective of what it could have been. I would say that I've been twice and had issues both times. I wouldn't visit for a special occasion - they seem to ruin those.

Willie G's Seafood served a delicious lunch on a beautiful day in Galveston. After spending the morning at Featherfest, I joined my mother in law for a late lunch. It's been years since I last ate here, so I wanted to enjoy a couples dishes. I had the Shrimp and Crab salad with balsamic vinaigrette. The shrimp were large and the dressing was lightly drizzled, which is what I prefer. If you like more dressing, you may want to ask for extra on the side. The shrimp were also dipped in a delicious sauce. I also had the Lobster Bisque. The Lobster Bisque was light and complimented the salad very well. My mother in law has the Crawfish Etouffee. It was a large portion, so she was able to take home leftovers. The service was prompt and friendly. As always, the restaurant was very clean and had great views of the pier.

I've been here before so I saw fit that I come for New Year's Eve. Despite how busy it was that night, our waitress did her best to tend to all of our needs. Food was decent but I feel like they've had better nights. Entrees/appetizers included calamari, tempura shrimp, oysters (Orleans cowboys, bourbon street), bourbon street pasta and whatever the fish of the day was for the evening. Overall I had good evening. Safe bet If you want a nice evening out.

The moment we pulled up, I knew this was going to be a special night. My husband and I came for our anniversary date!! It was acknowledged when we walked in and we sat down with celebratory champagne. All the food they recommended was spot on delicious- started with the bourbon street baked oysters, the Chilean sea bass entree and the bourbon Cajun fettuccine, and finally, the butterscotch bread pudding. The service matched with the food was perfection!

We have been to WG in Galveston but never the Houston location. We were not dissapointed. Service was super, food was perfect. Our favorites were sea bites, lobster bisque and the crab fried rice. We shared bread pudding and chocolate crunch cake which were also wonderful.

Willie G's was alright! The ambiance is giving more of "bar energy", which when you see it sitting so close to the post oak you'd expect more of luxury HOWEVER don't let this deter you because if you're looking for seafood this is a solid place. The menu: there are tons of options and love the ability to pick a whole fish or filleted and cooked in the style you'd like. All seafood restaurants should have this. The food: the shrimp and shishitos were good; the Caesar salad delivered as it should have...these were our appetizers. My girl and I got the gumbo, which was very very watery, I was expecting a thicker roux with more flavor. This is why I took off 1 star! The ingredients were done well: seafood, rice, and cornbread but the roux needed work.I will be back to try more dishes!
