Western Daughters Butcher Shoppe

This shop blew my expectations out of the water. Absolutely loved the selection, staff was knowledgeable, and attentive. We enjoyed everything we bought. We did not expect such a small shop to have so many great options.

You don't get much meat in the Mausoleum. So, we gotta get it at butchers like this place!And the store itself was pretty awesome, meats all fresh and chilling on their racks. With a wide variety of marinades, sauces and butters to accomodate any vooking curiosities.The dude who assisted us was on the money, too! He cut things to exact portions with no weighing. Then he rounded off our visit with a taste of their slow-cooked prime rib. Amazing stuff!Now the real problems are outside the store. The streets are just a mess to navigate, and everyone around here parks like a Californian. I mean, literally just stop anywhere and call it a human right levels of entitlement. We had to come from 5 blocks down because of the parking was so terrible.If they ever move, I'd support it wholly.

I've come to this place several times now, and while the meat is an excellent quality some of the staff is not knowledgeable or experienced. Have them show you the cuts before they package them up.I came to get two porterhouse stakes for 4 people, brought them home, and opened up the package, the steaks were thin and definitely not a portion for two. Luckily we had time to get two more, but they cook much better when they are thick.Next time my husband went to get 6 fillets of 7-8 oz each. When he arrived home the cuts were all different sizes and shapes, ranging from 10-6 oz. We were beyond annoyed. For the price, I expect excellent quality and service.

Traveled from LA in search of a Denver steak. The service was very helpful in advice of choice of cuts.

I cannot resist a speciality food shop so when I happened upon Western Daughters on a walk through the neighborhood I had no choice but to stop in.It's a tiny little shop that manages to keep lots of fun specialty foodie things in stock including spices, honey, nut butter, house-rendered lard, and even some produce like onions and potatoes to round out your farm-fresh protein if you're in a pinch.Among the delicious looking chicken and aged steak, they had some pork dumpling sausages in the case that caught my eye and I ended up picking up two of those to try. I didn't catch the name of the guy who helped me but he was great about answering my questions and giving me some recommendations on how to prepare the meat I'd just purchased. He also gave me a cup of warm bone broth on the house since they were closing soon, which was one of those simple customer service gestures that makes an impression.

The eggs are so good! We have made this a weekend tradition for us. We hang next door for a hit for eats and drinks (fantastic btw) then we head next door for the weeks meats, eggs and milk. Quality products and the people are great!

So unhappy. After polling multiple people looking for a skin-on pork loin, Western Daughters came highly recommended. I was especially interested because they're woman-owned. Spent $130 for a pork loin for a special recipe for grandma's last (probably) thanksgiving. They were super friendly via email and phone, took instructions for how we wanted the skin scored. Lines straight across about 1/2-to-1 cm apart. We picked it up today and got it home and noticed the skin is cut in diagonal lines about 1" apart. Tried calling over and over and over again, and they don't answer their phones, which wasn't a big deal because we only live 6 miles away, so I drove it back over here. I fully expected them to tell me they couldn't do anything to fix the issue regarding the fact that they cut the lines diagonally, but I expected them to at least help me out with cutting additional lines in. They won't. It's a health code thing. Huge bummer. Especially considering it's still in the vacuum pack.I spent $130 on this cut of meat. It's wrong. I could have picked up some cheap cut of meat and done this myself (but really no, I couldn't - I've never dealt with skin-on pork, I have no idea how deep to cut, I haven't had my knives sharpened in a while, I have no idea how to fix this... that's why I spent the extra and ordered from a real butcher). I spent $130 expecting it to be done per the order. Why spend the extra? Especially if they won't make it right. Don't waste your dollars if they're not going to stand behind their product and their work.

Fantastic experience at Western Daughters. Was providing the protein for a dinner and provided them all of the info (number of people, our cooking level, time willing to put into the prep, etc.) and they provided fantastic advice and input to help me make the choice of what we'd be having. I truly appreciated the time they took to talk through all of the options with me and even provided the detail I needed in order to ensure I didn't turn it into beef jerky. Grabbed a couple additional market items off their shelves that all ended up being fantastic items to have in my pantry. Will happily be returning to this quality butcher shoppe for any of my future purchases.

This butcher shop is one of the best there in in the area. Great cuts of meat and nice variety of accessories to add spice to your dishes. Very knowledgeable staff and the smoked chicken wings are insane. I got a 40oz dry aged ribeye this time and the flavor was amazing. Definitely recommend this butcher shop.

So disappointed I order 4lbs of meat and asked to have it sliced thinly like deli meat (1/4 in slices) and got 2 in cubed chunks. Spent $100 on something I can't use and they won't take it back and they don't have anymore.
