Weldon Mills Distillery Durham

Weldon Mills has been on my list of places but I hadn't planned to visit. I saw the tiki lounge as I passed by while in the area. Lauren was so nice and welcoming into the Tiki Lounge area. Lauren was genuinely happy to see me as I walked inside. Lauren educated me on all things last Friday at Weldon Mills. On the last Friday there is a live band inside Weldon Mills. I've always wanted to hear Al Strong play and ironically I stumbled upon this gem of a space not having any knowledge of the live music.I enjoyed some food inside at the bar. The staff inside were equally pleasant and welcoming. The wings were delicious. I tried the gin-tasting flight for only $8 I believe. A great price. The 86-proof platinum-distilled gin infused with real fruit was really good. I enjoyed the hibiscus ginger and raspberry. For dessert, I tried the red velvet cake. The cake isn't the best I've had, but for there to be dessert offerings - this was a nice addition to satisfy my sweet tooth. Weldon Mills is spacious and cozy for a date night or girls' night out. I look forward to my next visit.

No change, but loads of change. The general layout is the same, the vibe is still "sorta speakeasy" but classy. The bartenders are great, friendly, and draw out conversations from those at the bar. I was the only one at a table, the groups at the bar and the bartenders were all chatting amiably. I needed to write and think, so sat over here with the fading sunlight to my back. Drake recommended the Herby Derby, which was tasty, but my tastes run more spirit-forward. With this new info, He recommended the Rhubarb Tinted Lenses, a martini with their rhubarb gin, a cherry blossom vermouth, and unicorn tears bitters. I have no idea what flavor profile unicorn tears have, but I liked this drink. He also recommended the Lobster Mac & Cheese, to which I said "Yes, please!" A warm, creamy, seafood experience arrived a few minutes later, dusted with bread crumbs and evoking the Maine seashore. Thank you - late summer in Maine is a magical feeling! Sorry, it went straight to my belly without the thought of a photograph. Go get your own. You'll love it. Their fall drinks are coming out in a few weeks, so better move fast on the summer libations.

Nice and open. Several different options for tastings. Excellent customer service. The prices are very fair. I'd like to get a bottle next time. I love that there are options for whiskey gin vodka and tequila. Rustic decor.

I had an easy time sipping and enjoying the atmosphere of Weldon Mills. It felt like I was walking into a speakeasy as the lights were a little low, and the couches, chairs, and stables had a vintage flair and vibe to them. I decided to check out their whiskey flight, and my favorite out of the five hands down was the peach elderflower. It had a nice hint of sweetness and was an easy sipper. I am always looking for whiskey flavors that my mom can use to bake cakes with, and this is one that I think she will need to add in her rotation! I liked it so much that I got a single pour. My total was just a little over $17! What a great night with good service as well! I will be back for a few more sips in the future. They have specials almost every day. This must be a go-to when you go downtown!

This was a fun spot to hang out and listen to some music. Who knew that they had so many different liquors and flights to choose from? Would be a great place to grab drinks with friends.

Located in the space that used to be Union Social Club (which moved and then closed 2 weeks after I had paid my membership fee that wasn't going to be refunded), the space is very large and very chic. They also are going to open up an outdoor patio which is great since the weather is getting nice. I've been twice now and once sat at the bar and had a good chat with the bartender and other patrons and also sat in a booth and had great service. Both times I have been there it hasn't been super crowded (which I almost don't want to write this review because I want it to stay not crowded).The cocktails (while not cheap) are the most inventive cocktails in Durham. My husband and I have very different likes when it comes to cocktails (he likes whiskey and I like sweet drinks) and there is something for everyone. So far my favorite has been The Salad. All of them were wonderful but they do take a bit of time to make so be aware of that. We also tried the food-- it was fine but pretty typical bar food (and I was kinda hoping the food would live up to the creativity of the cocktails). Overall, great addition to the bar scene. I predict that once the word gets out this place will be very popular.

This might just be my new favorite bar in Durham!! The space is super open with plenty of comfy seating. Good for big groups to come hang out and grab a super tasty drink! The music is an appropriate volume (Lol can you tell my age..) which makes this a great spot for groups that actually want to talk to each other. Our bartender, Stephan, was super personable, informative and friendly! I'll be adding this to my rotation and will be back soon! Pro tip: they have an amazing selection of seasonal cocktails but also have a great selection of mocktails as well!

We visited from Charlotte,NC ON 2/10/24. We got there as Mave was opening up. She had to cook for us and also do tastings at the same time. She did a great job at multitasking The food was great as was the tastings and ambiance. It was nice to have the one on one attention as we were the only ones there at that time. We listened to her suggestions and she was very spot on, as we walked out with 12 bottles of their finest libations. Mave I hope you get to read this. We will definitely be back!

So fun. Bartender was great. Sat at the bar. Very casual vibe, non-pretentious. Will definitely be back and bring friends.

Everything I've had here was good. The manhattan, Negroni, the mocktails and other misc cocktails. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the charcuterie board. Most of the ingredients were good but it was too dry. The pepper jelly was good, but there wasn't enough of it. Strawberry jam just doesn't go with any of the other ingredients on the board. It could have used mustard.
