I tried sushi for the first time here probably about 8 years ago, and ever since then sushi has been one of my favorite foods and Wasabi has remained one of my favorite places to regularly go to get it! There is always great service (sometimes when they are super busy, it will take a while to be served, but that may be my only criticism even though it isn't really one because it's understandable). Last night I was able to visit for dinner with five friends, it was a very busy Friday night at Belmar during the holidays, however we were seated immediately with no wait. In my experience, it has been extremely rare that I have had to wait for a table at this restaurant, but strangely it seems to never be without a good amount of customers. The food here is amazing, and that's the best part. I don't remember ever ordering anything here and disliking it. Of course, everyone has their own taste, but I just think Wasabi has some really solid menu options. You can't really go wrong with anything. Every time I come here, I order the crispy tuna roll. It is SOO AMAZING. If you go here, you MUST try it! As you can see in my photo, the table couldn't even wait for me to take the picture before half of the crispy tuna was taken If you are planning on going to Belmar any time soon, I definitely recommend stopping by Wasabi. It's in a perfect location as to where you can easily walk wherever in Belmar you want to go. Whenever I see a movie there, a lot of the time I go into Wasabi first to get some dinner. Also, kind of a side note, I absolutely love how you can buy baby avocado trees here

Parking was easy and finding this place was also easy. What this place lacks is the service. Sure they staff was friendly but the menus were sticky and if you use the 10% off that Yelp provides be ready for the staff to get irritated with you. The speed of service was also extremely slow. We had two servers and for some odd reason they were not really communicating with each other. One took our drinks order and disappeared for a while with no drinks we sat for another 10 mins before the other server noticed us just waiting around. The food was mediocre and tasted just fine nothing special. The cost barely made sense. Some of the rolls was an 7/10. It was the middle of the day and after the lunch time. Won't be back because it took way longer to get the food out to us so it's not the spot for quick lunch bite.

I can't name myself a full on sushi connoisseur but I have tried some sushi places over the last couple years, ranging from high end to your local places and Wasabi is somewhat in the middle for me.I do think the value for the price is there, definitely a lot of sushi for $80. The fish was fresh which sure is important. The location was clean, welcoming. It's nice that it is located in the Belmar plaza area and there's a lot to do around the mall before or after dinner.The service was ok. We got the food within an appropriate timeframe. It was the end of the dinner service where the waitress was not anywhere to be found so we can pay the bill. We had to flag someone down to get her so we can pay and leave. Disappointing end of the night.Based on all these aspects I have to give Wasabi 3 stars. Would I go back?- maybe but I would probably try other options before getting here.

The service was good, the staff was super nice and although you could tell they were a bit understaffed they were doing the best they could and I appreciate that. The food was alright, not the best sushi but def not worse it was okay. Overall many seating options and they have an outdoor area to sit as well. I would say it's kid friendly as it definitely was not quiet but could be used as a date night or lunch date as well.

This place is too expensive for a place whose food is completely unremarkable. I tried a variety of sushi, and my companion tried their ramen, and we found both to be a little bit just-blah. You'd be better off going to a smaller, local operation that's either less pricey or more fresh and flavorful.

We were seated and had our drink order taken, only to have it forgotten and a new server to come by to take our drink order again. The food was ok. It came out really sporadicly over the course of 20 minutes. Nothing special or spectacular. I ordered the Orgasm on Teller and it was just ok. The bento boxes were ok, though some of the food had additional ingredients not listed on the menu - like mushrooms in the shrimp teriyaki. The beef teriyaki and chicken teriyaki did not have mushrooms, so there was no reason to think the shrimp would.

Parking may be difficult to find in the area. Ambiance is nice. Customer service is average. Prices are expensive. Food is delicious. Worth a visit. Would prefer to go to another location in the future. They played some good music inside.

A friend and I went right at opening (11am) for lunch. Service was friendly and efficient. We shared 4 rolls. The different fish all tasted really fresh... the rice was cooked perfectly and really nice texture. Overall, very very happy with this place. Not sure how it is when it gets busy, but I'm very excited to go back!! Ambiance was nice...good spot to hang out with friends. Everything felt/looked clean, too.

Hate to do this but this is a hard no for me. Let me preface this review with saying I come from Southern California where fresh sushi is bountiful, so my standards are pretty high. Service was mediocre, definitely slow--but what really takes the cake is the actual quality of sushi. Just, no. Why was the tuna brown? Fish looked dry and just old... I just can't, I'm sorry.

This place is a letdown. Such a prime location, yet it's wasted on a restaurant like this. The sushi is seriously hit and miss. It's sometimes good, but I often encounter smelly fish, or roe that has texture like mush.I suspect that if you order the rolls that are coated in sauces, you might not notice the poor quality of the fish. But their nigiri really reveals the bad quality.
