Waller County Line BBQ

I've been driving past this bbq place for years traveling between Austin and Houston but never stopped here until today. I read some of the previous reviews and had hesitation about this place but I was hungry and figured it had to be better than Buccee's bbq. I was wrong. I don't even care for Buccee's bbq but it is better than this! First of all, why is a "FAMOUS PIT BBQ" that boasts "THE BEST BBQ IN TEXAS" using this fake hard imitation bacon on the potato instead of real bacon??? The sliced brisket was very flavorless and had more fat than actual meat! The whole potato was bland. The only thing that halfway helped was putting some bbq sauce on top so it could get some kind of flavor. Oh shoot...I can feel my stomach doing something after eating some of this potato. Save your $17 and either go across the street to Buccee's or find something else. ANYTHING ELSE but this!

#1 no ribs, baked beans were out of a can,no other ingredients added, potato salad ok but to much mustard,the trytip was very good,the pulled pork was good, as grocery store can overall. . sad

The ladies in the back are wonderful - super friendly and efficient! There's typically a bit of a line, but it goes quickly; they make each plate as it's ordered. The food varies depending on what you order. They're famous for their loaded baked potato and this is absolutely what you should order there - I suggest with brisket and sauce on the side. Their mild sauce is definitely on the sweet side and while good, can overwhelm a bit. The potato is huge - you can easily split with someone - and they'll split it for you for $3 (worth it). I didn't love the Boudin balls. The ribs and brisket were decent on their own, I don't recommend the sides. This is technically a gas stop but there's plenty of space to eat there on well kept tables with plenty of paper towels. Bathrooms are nice.

Never again! This place was absolutely horrible, I am not sure why people believe otherwise. We stopped by on our way to CS and I should have just starved. I got two meats ("smoked" brisket and Turkey) potato salad and green beans. The brisket was dry, the turkey taste like it was boiled, why is the potato salad sweet? But not relish or pickle sweet, and the green beans was the only decent thing there. We also got a baked potato with pulled pork. The pork taste like what you fill tamales with and over priced. At $16 a potato there should be real bacon, not imitation. The bbq sauce wasn't hot it was cold and thick. Felt like they put SBR in a cup and then a little hot sauce in the "spicy". So lazy and disgusting.

This used to be my favorite bbq spot in texas.now they barely smoke the meat and every time you go they are out of most things..since they didn't have top cut , I ordered a smoked turkey potato.they put LUNCH MEAT as smoked turkey...when you go to a smokehouse you do not expect to get kroger lunch meat..i don't know if it's the manger or the owners but the quality has dropped below reasonable standards.ibhooe they fix this since i have been coming here for more than a decade....what a shame

12.31.225 stars for Waller County Line BBQ! Hubby and I came in for a loaded baked potato. We split it because it was so large. It was wonderful. There was loads of meat, cheese, sour cream, butter and chives. Very good!! Will get it again!!

Good Ol Fashioned BBQ. Across the highway from buccees. If you want a brisket sandwich don't go to buccees, go to WCL. Get the brisket, ribs, baked beans and green beans. You can't go wrong with anything here. Service is great and the gas station the restaurant is held in says, "Country". Try it out, you won't be disappointed.

Go to Bucees across the street and instead!!What a sorry excuse for Texas BBQ, hands down the worst BBQ I've ever tried. Nothing was smoked, brisket tasted like it was boiled, everything else was dry and bland

The brisket isn't smoked much. Taste and texture is more like stew meat. Ribs are fine. Brisket could use a little more trimming of the fat and more bark so the you get a good bark taste, without a mouthful of fat.

Just ate here, I had barbecued pulled pork, it was decent though I have had better. My husband had a Walker Dog it was huge, he liked it a lot. Staff was pleasant, restrooms clean, and any easy access off 290. Bakery was closed, but lots of sliced cake available at order window.
