We visited this Vino Amoari location after finding a great deal on Groupon for a wine tasting here for two, for only $5. We were able to make a reservation via phone for our party of two (after no response via email) and the wine expert prepped for us as soon as we arrived. She was very knowledgeable about the wine we sampled and their origins. We had great casual conversation and she helped us hone in on what types of wine we might want to try in the future. The selection of wine for purchase was plentiful although we were not looking to make a purchase that day. Overall, you can't beat the price for the wine tasting. For $5 we were able to sample 4 different wines, and expert who served us was both knowledgeable and entertaining. If you're in Raleigh, go ahead and stop by!

I've only been here a couple of times, but I had satisfactory experiences. Both times the staff was a little quirky, but nothing worth a one-star review. It looks like a few people have given bad ratings based on Groupon, and I've been there. I've given a bad review based on lousy Groupon service, too. But for someone looking around the Crabtree area for a wine shop, this one is perfectly serviceable. I've been to a lot of local wineshops, and I didn't find this one to be markedly worse than a lot of others I've been to.Yes, I found their service to be a little slow. No, I probably wouldn't want to hang out here for the wine-bar experience. but as a wine store, it's perfectly fine.In fact, when I've come twice, I usually see types of wines that I don't find in my usual go-tos for wine purchases such as Whole Foods, Kroger and Harris-Teeter. I can understand why the Groupon people have complaints, and why the winebar people might not want to hang out here for an extended period. But if you need a bottle of wine in a pinch, it's not a bad place to shop.

This is a very nice little spot near Crabtree mall. I love the ambiance and the knowledge of my man Ralph! Ralph is very knowledgeable about the wines and beer here. Definitely ask him questions to gain direction of which wines and beers you will like. Had a great experience here and will definitely be coming back!!!!!

At first I was very excited to have a wine shop in my new neighborhood, but both experiences here have been less than satisfactory. I recently purchased a Groupon which I intended to use on Monday, and the lady at the counter told me they don't do Groupons during the week. Only on the weekends. I explained to her that it did not say this anywhere on the Groupon. She told me if she opens a bottle tonight than it will go bad during the rest of the week. The store was empty and she refused my service. Who on earth would turn down a sale??? Wrong person managing the store in my opinion. I don't want to give this place my business.

We went with a Groupon for a tasting. It's a difficult to find place, and even inside, not much to look at.The wines offered were okay, servings reasonably sized. The place was empty. Retail prices were higher than they should be. The server (only person other than us in the place) was not knowledgeable about wine, but very friendly. After our tasting, we each had a full glass of wine, and were told about the Monday $3/glass special.Next time we were in the area, we stopped in for the Monday special. The only employee in the store knew nothing about it. At all. She offered to call the owner to inquire, but also told us that she only had white wine available at the bar. WHAT? That all the red she had was still in the refrigerator so it was cold. WHAT? We stared at her like she was from outer space - it's a retail wine shop, for goodness sakes. Pick one - any one - open it up and serve it to your customers! We politely left, but were laughing and shaking our heads by the time we reached the car. Just a crazy experience. Bizarre.

I've been to many wine tastings and this by far is the worst I've been on. They are so unorganized and when we arrived they looked at us like we had a few heads. To be honest, I would not even give this place 1 star!I purchased a Groupon and when I bought it I emailed the place right away. It was a wine tasting form two with 2 glasses. Well the glasses were nothing special. They were just old glasses that they probably used for tastings and wanted to get rid of them. The person who gave us a tasting did not really tell us about the wine but constantly talked to the coworker. We ended up leaving because it was SO HORRIBLE!

We purchased a Groupon for 5 or 10 dollars for a wine tasting for two and two complimentary wine glasses. When we found ourselves at Crabtree Valley mall, we thought we should check it out. This place is located on the backside of Barnes and Noble beside the mall. You definitely cannot see it from the main road and there are no signs. Inside is very nice and the wines are displayed very nicely. Our service was less than ideal. Out of the two individuals working the store, one mumbled a lot and was hard to understand and the other was quiet and clearly did not know much about wine. Our tasting went well and we DEFINITELY got our money's worth (the pours were very generous of 4 red wines and 1 white wine). However, the employee read directly from a sheet when talking about the wines. The bar area was not very clean (a few flies were around and there was an employees used container with her lunch on the bar). We ended up buying one bottle of wine we tasted and their computer was not working so we waited around for 10 minutes before just paying with cash. They also forgot to give us our complimentary wine glasses as part of the groupon.Overall, not a great experience, but if you are waiting to go to dinner somewhere in the mall like Brio or Flemings and their bars are really crowded, I am sure you can come here and get a glass of wine without the crowd. Other than this scenario, we probably will not be back.

Staying nearby I went to get a bottle of wine. Store was open beyond its normal close time. Bought a bottle at 12.99 price tag, lady proceeds to ring it up for 14.99 after calculating 'tax' on her own. Tell her that she entered in the wrong price, she lies about a big sales tax, told her again 14.99 was not what the price should be and she gave me a dollar bill to make up for the difference....say what? Unprofessional

Horrible! I brought a friend here after purchasing a Groupon for wine tasting. The experience from making the appointment to leaving the place was beyond unprofessional. As I'm on the phone trying to schedule a time for tasting, the lady is talking loudly with her thick Caribbean accent. She didn't seem to understand my questions & offered me several times to come in (daylight savings) and just said you can come whenever. Ok. My friend & I get there on time & the same lady on the phone checks us in. She asked to see my Groupon code & snatched my phone out of my hand and almost forgot to give it back to me before she sat us at a bar table. The place looks like a wine shop on the left & makeshift bar/lounge on the right. Mind you my friend and I were the only ones that were in there for wine tasting, so what really was the point of the reservation? At the large bar in the back it looks like a group of her friends just having a grand ole time drinking wine, talking loud & listening to blaring hip hop! But suddenly the music changed to smooth jazz after we sat down. So finally the wine tasting....The same lady that answered the phone, checked us in, currently entertaining her friends, is also serving us! She begins to tell us that usually you start with the white then go to the red but she said she didn't feel like doing that and she was custom picking the wines. (No crackers or water either to cleanse your palate)So we started sampling red wine then white, she barely knew where each wine was from as she had to literally read the bottle to tell us. For whatever reason she didn't make eye contact with me and kept pouring less wine in my glass. Some of the wine was actually good, I think prices for bottles are somewhat high but as far as buying a bottle I wouldn't just based off of my overall experience.
