Great, casual taco stop! My favorite is the Buffalo taco. I always enjoy this place, and I love that they are always changing the menu slightly! So fun.

Stopped by as I was in the area. Pretty empty for a Friday night, but it was approaching 10 pm. Typical stainless steel, cold, and sterile decor that's likely chosen as it's easy to clean. Service was fast, although they were out of my first choice of fish and chips. Really good guacamole, and I liked the Mexi-Cali taco. The pork on the Korean Fried Rice was a blob of shredded meat with a very off-putting texture. Did not enjoy that. Haven't been to VT in a while, and this was worth the visit. Yes, there's better, and it's not authentic, but it serves it purpose.

Tried the Chicken Rotisserie and subbed lettuce wraps! amazing flavor but what was more impressive was the customer service. It's such a lost art and it was so refreshing. Especially since my order was very minimal and not a huge order.

This is my favorite Velvet Taco - the tacos are always on point! Delicious and the portions are very respectable..no small skimpy tacos over here! Some of my favorites are the chipotle pork bbq, the picnic chicken, and the Kobe beef tacos. This is a go-to spot.

Steak was much better than chicken. Toppings were good. Tortillas could have been more substantial and more grilled.

Mmmmmmm... The velvetiest tacccccco!!! Yum!!! Food: Spicy Tikka Chicken Tacos are tha bomb! It transports you to a place where spicy food meets taco and oh what a wonderful dance it is! It's definitely a flavor explosion in your mouth.Parking: Parking is a bit tight could imagine if you came on a weekend, but I went on a week night, so I had a great choice of parking spots. Location: You can't miss it. This Location is in Rice Village across from Insomnia Cookies!!! If you've passes the cookie place, gone too far. Service: Service was amazing. I felt like I didn't even have to wait long for the food to come out and the staff was super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. In essence, I will be back for sure. Amazing service and great food! Oh yeah, I'm coming back for sure!!

Velvet taco has a variety of tacos that have great flavor combinations. I enjoyed my spicy chicken tikka taco a lot!! It's actually spicy, which was pleasantly surprising. The rice was cooked well and the tikka sauce had an authentic flavor. The next one I tried was the mexi-cali shrimp and that had a lot of guac, sauces, corn, and shrimp. That one I would pass on because there was a weird vegetable garnish on it. The tots were very delicious but also dense with the sauce/cheese. I would share this side with a group of friends! Service was great. The workers seem to be attentive to the customers and it was funny listening to them call our names like we had won a bingo prize hahaha.

Good, consistent, service and food. I've loved them from my Austin days, and so glad they have so many Houston locations now! A must try is their elote, they used to serve it individually and now serve it with chips - its always good. I like their Picnic taco - it really is reminiscent of a hot summers day, and enjoying a nice day out in a park. The potatoes in it are cooling and are a nice contract in texture with the chicken used in the taco. I also tried their taco of the week which was the Huli Huli Chicken - a friend tender (or two) with bbq pineapple glaze, grilled pineapples, and rice. Delicious! It's not true tex-mex, and they never claim to be, its a fusion with really good/fresh ingredients.

Barbi's Velvet Taco is 5 stars, this one, less so.I don't really come here, but when I do, it's because someone drags me here. It's in Rice Village, it's fake mexican food (for non Mexicans), it's basically hipster/American/bougie tacos. The prices are okay considering it's a hipster place. I think the food is less than average. I prefer the tacos at Cabana (which is another fake taco place, but cheaper and more fast food). They make an effort, but I resent how popular they are, when there are 10,000 amazing taco shops and taco trucks serving real Mexican tacos in Greater Houston that taste 439 times better, and yet this is all anyone seems to recommend or visit. It's everyone's loss, and the CEO of the corporate chain that is Velvet Taco's gain.
