Ultimo is a fine addition to Germantown; the space used to be a car-parts store. It's well-lit and high-ceilinged and has some good pastries... I think I remember cake iced with sweetened whipped tahini, surprisingly good. Coffee is fine but hits a high slightly tannic note. The ventilation could be improved upon but in summer those lovely glass-paned garage-style doors are flung open, or up -- that helps. Friendly, courteous staff, nice blend of customers. It's a casual place, people don't posture here.

A cozy open feel cafe. The ceiling to floor window front (garage style) is perfect for a sunny day! There is bar style high top seating facing the street with regular tables spread about on the main floor. They take their time making each cup that's finely finished with latte art. Some baked goods are available as well so I had to indulge! The servers were welcoming upon arrival and took my order with a smile.

In short this is a very nice coffee shop with amazing desserts. I've been a few times and although it's never empty it usually isn't excessively crowded or loud either. It's a nice place to hang out for a few hours and there's usually parking on the street outside. Definitely give this place a try!

Took a very long walk to this coffee shop based upon it's great reviews. It's a nice corner spot with a few outdoor tables making it a great place to relax on a good weather day. I ordered an Americano and my DH ordered a latte. Our orders were processed quickly with a smile. And then, I saw the pastries. They had this polenta citrus cake which I got and also an almond croissant. The cake was to die for! Thick, moist, very citrus but also sweet. The coffees were good. The place is clean and bright and I'll definitely go back in the future.

On my most recent trip to my hometown Philly I found this little gem of a coffee shop. It had a small warm feel to it. The staff were all super attentive and nice! The coffee was delicious I had a cappuccino and they added just a hint of simple syrup per my request! I also had a breakfast sandwich which was also great. In my opinion way better than Dunkin !!!! 10 out 10 definitely recommend!!!!!

Didn't realize I only had a fifty and no other form of payment. Totally understand if you don't have the money to make change but it was indicated that if it were fake the employee would be liable for the money, which is illegal. Seems pretty shady. 2nd time I've become aware of a lot of tension around counterfeits, previously waited 5 minutes for service because an owner was laying into staff over a fake bill. Counterfeit markers are like 5 bucks. Replacing staff costs so much more. Here I am with no coffee.

Wanted to try a new spot around the corner from my usual coffee shop Uncle Bobbies - which I LOVE and HIGHLY recommend to anyone in the area. When I entered Ultimo with a few friends of mine (November 24th at around 2:30pm) we walked up to the counter to order. We stood there for a few minutes before we were even acknowledged. Which was fine, no big deal, I've worked in retail and food - so I get it. Finally the young woman behind the counter apparently said "Give me a second and I'll take your order." But all I heard was "I'll take your order." So I asked for a hot tea. She looked back at me and rudely said "ACTUALLY I'm doing something right now so I'll be with you in a minute." And her male co-worker chimed in and said "YEAH she's doing something."......?- Ok, apologies for not hearing her correctly the first time (as if music wasn't playing and people were talking all around...) but their attitudes were extremely uncalled for. I suggest looking for new jobs if a simple miscommunication like that sends you over the edge. Do better. Again if anyone would like to support a professional and Black-Owned coffee shop, I suggest Uncle Bobbies around the corner!

Just threw away the whole cup... asked for an iced latte with extra shot of espresso. Cup filled to the brim with milk above 2/3rds and just given one shot of expresso. Tasted like milk. This was very disappointing. Will not return. I don't have time to waste on asking them to remake something.

I walked into Ultimo for the first time yesterday, I was greeted with a light, airy atmosphere with ample natural light and greenery lining the room. There were several shelves peppered with their best selling coffees, food choices, as well as delicious looking pastries. I walked to the front and was quickly waited on by the barista. I ordered my standard Vanilla Latte(almond milk, light foam, heavy on the latte art). They gave it to me with no lid so I could see the Barista's (Baristo? Idk) frothy creation in all it's glory--which was quite frankly Coffee Porn. I'm talking the CoffeeHub.com levels.Anyway--I took my drink, got back in my car, and let it cool down to the recommended 135-140 degrees F before drinking (real latte connoisseur's know).Omg, delicious. No complaints. (Except they use authentic italian sizing so you may need 2 lol)Dissapointed I didn't know about this place when I was living at Rittenhouse Hill. Other notes: -street parking-takes credit cards-sit at the bar near the window

I really like this place, but unfortunately the WiFi never works. I've been visiting occasionally throughout the past year to see if they've fixed it but it's yet to improve. When asking the staff for assistance they don't seem to know why it's not working, but when asking other patrons they confirm the WiFi has never worked and you have to use a hotspot.Other than that it's a great spot! Good coffee and pastries. The giant front windows create an open and cool atmosphere. It'd be a great place to grab a coffee with a friend, but unfortunately the lack of WiFi doesn't make it very conducive to get work done (which is what I go to cafes to do). Such a shame.
