Brenham location: Food was like any other BBQ place I've been to. Good, but nothing more. Loved the tater tot casserole and Mac-n-cheese! Bbq beans were good and so was broccoli cheese casserole. Coleslaw, nah. Regular brisket very dry, moist brisket better but still leaning on dry side. Pork ribs taste decent, but not over the top. Service, well after waiting in line for 45 min you'd expect a better experience. My son said "mom they were kinda rude". I don't think I'd agree 100% but it definitely wasn't welcoming. Then you move to checkout, again, not very welcoming. And don't come in asking for additional sauces unless you want to wait, again! Ambiance was ok, two tables inside, lots outside. They offer free lone star beer while you wait. That's a nice touch if you like beer. Now, I have tried Truth BBQ in Houston, TOTALLY different food and experience. It's above par!!! Go check it out!!

EDIT: This review is for the Brenham location. I haven't been to the Heights location in Houston. I actually used to live in the Heights a lifetime ago. Wish Truth was there then, but I digress. Read on for my review of the Brenham location. With all the hype about this place, I was eager to give it a try. My girlfirend and I were in Brenham for a weekend getaway and we knew this was on our list of things to try. The only thing I really liked were the pork ribs. The brisket and sausage were both average.....not bad, just average. Sides were average too. I may be picky since I live in Austin where good BBQ is all over the place, but considering how much press Truth BBQ gets, I expected more.

Amazing barbecue! Stopped in at the recommendation from family. We were heading into Houston from Waco and wanted barbecue. Friendly staff and great food. The ribs were tender and fell right off the bone. Cliche but it's the truth lol.

Like most other reviews the sides here are pretty amazingly good. The corn pudding was definitely unique (something I've never had before) and oh my The brussel sprouts was to die for. The brisket was moist, flavorful, and just down right rich. We are brisket people and truth doesnt disappoint. The ribs were pretty good but we definitely enjoyed the brisket more. The hot sauces were a great addition to the meats and the tables are cleaned off, turned around pretty quickly and there was never a giant mound of trash or trays left around unattended for long. They also have to go containers for any leftovers by the utensils and soda fountain area. The staff were super friendly, helpful, and quick to clean up any messes. We made a stop here before flying out so we had 3 pieces of luggage with us that they were able to accommodate and store off to the side. I definitely look forward to coming back.

Holy crap. It was so lucky that we even ended up here. My husband and I were visiting some family in Houston, and we came super excited to experience Texas BBQ. We were driving with my family to Austin, and my cousin happened to recognize the logo on the side of the road and we immediately turned around. Best decision ever. The line is so long. It went way out the door and only for worse after we got there. Shoutout to the beautiful people of Truth BBQ that had free water and beer for us waiting. The one employee is a prankster though. He was coming out to denote that the beef ribs and turkey were sold out. He went to go mark the brisket as sold out, but just as everyone in line was about to have a heart attack, he said he was joking. Ha ha ha. Speaking of the brisket. Best I've ever had, and it's not close. We ordered so much once we finally got to the front of the line. And the sides are absolutely worthy of writing home about, especially the mac and cheese. The carrot cake was heavenly as well. Make it a point to stop here. It's absolutely worth the drive and the wait.

This place is literally located on highway 290 and the sound of the highway just a few feet away is deafening. If you find yourself coming here, keep in mind there are only 8 parking spaces in their lot so you'll have to park on a surrounding street. You may also want to think about getting it to go since there's only about 12 picnic tables (and 2 inside) on the property. Keep in mind that they are only open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. What's interesting, is the fact that the building that you order from is barely big enough to park a car in. You'll probably be standing in line anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes which is very common. They also offer some good desserts, such as coconut cake and banana pudding. As for drinks, they do have a soda machine, otherwise it's water. Their three meat plate will run you about $30, but you get some very healthy side portions, a full link of sausage, two ribs, and some brisket. I have to admit I was surprised how good the sides were, from the creamy coleslaw to the beans mixed with brisket to the creamy potato salad. The sausage links were meaty and cheesy and brisket was wonderfully moist and flavorful. The ribs were perfectly smoked and the meat fell off the bone. For another $40 you can add one of their beef ribs which are a meal in itself. Five stars for all the grub, but I have to subtract half a star for poor location, inadequate parking, outdoor bathroom, lack of seating, no alcoholic beverages sold (although they were handing out free cans of Lonestar) and no AC. This is definitely some of the best barbecue you'll find in Brenham, or for that matter anywhere else, and worthy of a return trip. And when you finally check out, like most places these days, get ready for that tip screen. ****1/2 stars

Yum! I've been to Truth BBQ in Houston several times, but it was my 1st time at this location in Brenham. They have a small parking lot up front but extra parking in back. It's WAY smaller inside, but so worth the wait! The line moved briskly, which was fantastic because I was starving! I ordered the 2-meat plate with brisket and ribs. For my two sides, I ordered the mac n cheese and tater tot cheesy casserole. Oh! And I ordered the banana pudding too.We had to sit outside because there is limited sitting space inside. The day was lovely. Clear skies and cool, so it worked out.My food was so delicious! I especially loved the mouthwatering ribs.My friend enjoyed her brisket, but the pulled pork was a bit cold and hard to eat. Her two sides were great, though.Service was great. Food was scrumptious. The day was beautiful. Overall--it was a BBQ win!

this is for the service, not the food. We arrived at 1:20 on a Friday. long line. free beer and water while you waited. and they kept us updated with the status of the meats and sides. Finally they ran out before we go to the counter. but they were very apologetic and were very nice. I appreciate being kept informed, even though I didn't get anything. Will come back but will be earlier! And did I mention free beer (tips appreciated) while you wait?
