The service and food was excellent! They welcomed me warmly soon as I walked through the door and helped me navigate the menu. Upon ordering, my food came out shortly later piping hot, very flavorful, and soooooo good! This is a must try spot.

As many have stated the people and the service was good. Very friendly. I ordered just before closing so maybe the quality of the food was impacted by that. I ordered a lobster roll as I was in the mood for something different than my usual take out of burgers and chicken. My first surprise was that it was barely the size of a regular hotdog. It looked like the breading was a tortilla wrap it was so thin. The meat was chewy. The seasoning was a little much. Overall it was nothing to brag home about. It was the only thing I ordered and again late night so at this point for me the jury is still out. I might give them another chance midday when I'm hungry for seafood but don't feel like cooking.

I was super excited about reading about this restaurant, featured in the local media. As a food critic, I couldn't not wait to eat at this eatery. TK Surf and Turf Kitchen. TK stands for Tyler Kanwai, the owner and self called chef. Too much hype, too much noise, and here are the results. I arrived at the place where Tyler and his mother shouted a welcome to TK along with a lady working behind the counter. The lady at the punter, immediately asked if this was my first time and where did I hear from them about. I told them that I was responding to the media hype regarding the Black Restaurant Week for Denver. She proceeded to show me a half-page laminated menu, and explained what the specialty of the restaurant was, a dish that starts at $50. At that price, you will expect a waiting taking you to a seating area and taking your order from there, instead of going for about 5 minutes non stop, highlighting the specialty of the house and the overwhelming variances and combinations, while you are standing and your brain is going hundred miles an hour trying to assimilate the lecture you just were provided with. So I ventured to order the Alfredo Shrimp dish, that typically is made with fettuccini pasta, but in this case, its served on a bed of penne pasta. The drink menu, is a big array of bottled lemonade, and no other options. I placed the order, I paid at the counter, like a fast food eatery, type of cafeteria, I was asked for an ID in order for them to accept my credit card payment. Unusual but understandable. I indicated that I was there to dine in, and the lady at the counter said, no problem, I'll take your order to your table once is ready. It was too premature, that, during the payment process, their POS system ask for a tip upfront as an option. I never recommend paying a tip for a cafeteria type of eatery, with no table service and too soon to know how the service will be provided, which is the reason for the tip. So I took my bottled lemonade that I purchased and seated myself. I started reading the reviews on Yelp and Google and thought, this cannot be true. Someone said in the reviews that you get the food in a to-go-container and plastic cutely. Will that be true? Sadly, it was true! The girl from the counter came to my table and delivered a sealed packet of plastic fork and knife, a small stack of gas-station-restroom napkins, and two tiny packets with wet towels. Now, the place is very clean, smells too much to Fabuloso, the cleaner, like the restrooms at the gas station. Very overwhelming. But something you cannot find out is, the smell of food being cocked. It's also mentioned in few reviews. And the place is small, so how do they do to hide the smell of sea food being prepared (Surf) and the smell of meats (turf)? That's very intriguing. And as a critic, I want to know! After 20 mins or so, my flamboyant food made to my table (or boot, it's a converted cafeteria, actually). And I was shocked to discover that my $25 order of Alfredo Shrimp was trapped in a to go plastic container with the lid on. Seriously? And she handed a tiny aluminum foil packet that contained some garlic bread. I'm still open to the experience, so I'm ready to forgive this capital sin. By the way, the art wall in the cafeteria has religious motifs, so I guess, we will go in that direction. I opened the box, expecting for delicate fragrances and steam to escape finally out of that plastic prisión. Steam came out, but no odors, no smells, no excitement. In the traditional black-prepared food, you will never find the lack of flavors. So I wondered who prepared my food, and when, and where??? I want to know!So I proceeded to unpack my humble and weak cutlery out of the plastic wrapping. I think still that someone has playing a prank on me. I recently dined at Olive Garden, and the price is the same ballpark of $25. I opened the foil wrapping and found the saddest end of bread loaf, that was hardened, but half of that is drenched in a dark butter, and what happen to the garlic? It disappeared, like magic act. But I'm still open for a good experience, please note that. I tried to find any smell in the food, and found none, like the food passed through a sterilization process, may be twice, just to be safe. It smelled like nothing, for real. I tried a shrimp, no flavor, no seasoning, I tried a piece of the penne pasta, still al-dente, and yet, flavorless, very little sauce, flavorless, like store-bought sauce from the gallon. Now the menu describes tat the dish features shaved Parmesan cheese. My ration (it seemed like the Army food) had a huge lump of melted cheese. I noticed that the edges in the plastic box used as plate, had oil everywhere, including, a good amount at the bottom of the food. The owner/chef/manager was the lamest ever. He told me he could cook another shrimp pieces since I ate some. Big failure throughout

Definitely has the potential for a 5 star! The corn was absolutely delicious with the spices and butter. I couldn't really tell if the garlic mashed potatoes were like half from a packet and half real but they were good nonetheless. The lobster and crab - loved the flavoring, just maybe cooked a bit better because when it's cooked perfect, as soon as you crack them, the meat comes right out. Wasn't the case this round but will definitely try again!Fair prices for what seafood is going for nowadays. Friendly service! Good amount of seating. Chill vibe.

Unassuming first off! Hospitality reminds me of the deep South US. I chose the Lobster and Crab with mashed potatoes, and broccoli. Others in the party Salmon and crab and chicken Alfredo. We were offered bibs luckily!! The service was great and TK's mom came over to greet us! Bonus! We brought a friend from Atlanta who loved the chicken Alfredo which I tasted and it was well seasoned and full of chicken and a penne pasta.I also enjoyed the potatoes and what was broccolini! Yum! The crab, lobster and salmon left us nearly speechless! Run don't walk to this spot!

Will definitely be returning. Staff was welcoming and friendly. Did an amazing job.Ordered the steak and shrimp with Mashed Potatoes and Broccoi. Hearty, yet healthy. The steak and shrimp were cooked perfectly and was a solid portion that left enough for take home dining. Definitely a spot you don't wanna miss when in Denver, and it's Black owned and family ran. The mother welcomed us and introduced us to her son who is the owner. Super friendly environment, and they checked on us multiple times

TK's is a little hidden gem. We walked in not expecting much and honestly everything we tried was delicious. We ordered the special platter, crab and lobster, lobster and steak, spicy Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, asparagus, corn, banana pudding strawberry and Reese's, and one of their lemonades. Special platter is the way to go, you get a little bit of everything in that meal. The steak, I ordered it as medium rare and it was really chewy still. I think it's just the type of steak they had and it's ok but the flavor was all there. So if you like your steaks like that, get it!! All the sides were delicious except for the mashed potatoes. It tasted a tad dry but it could've been because we went late in the day. Everything is full of flavor and is soooo delicious. I would bring your own crab crackers though, they did not provide that for us and it was really hard eating the crab. Our food basically was cold by the time the crab was cracked and ready. Everyone there is so kind to see if you need more utensils or anything and cleared our table as we were done eating. I would say food coming out in plastic containers does suck but it's a more laidback place and easier than to do a bunch of dishes and ready to go if you don't finish it. The strawberry banana pudding is so divine. If you don't finish it, take it home and save it for later. I would def recommend coming back here. They don't have free water so I would bring your own water bottle if you don't want to pay for a drink.

A co-worker of mine wanted to make sure I stopped in here, as I am a new chef/restaurant owner from the Philadelphia area and just moved here 3 weeks ago. I must say the first thing that was a joy to experience was the kindness and expertise from Jaz who helped us. Very knowledgeable, personable, and hospitable. I truly made the rest of the experience a great one. Wanted to get the chance to talk to TK and congratulate him on his success but have to leave it here. The food matched all the recommendations I asked for. The banana pudding was fire, the shrimp were tender, and the crabs were even more fire. Looking forward to stopping back in.

The food was good and they definitely give you a nice portion. Even though you can see the seasoning on the food there was little to no flavor. I'm not a fan of salt but I am a big fan of favor and herbs but the food had either. I had the shrimp with crab legs and spicy Mac with broccoli. My husband had salmon with shrimp and mashed potatoes. The vibe in the place is really cute and the staff are very nice. For our first time in Colorado not bad. Thanks again
