I'm so glad that I checked out the wine cellar! Love that they are family owned and operated and have been for about 20 years! Such an amazing selection and mix of whites, reds, and sparkling. Patrick provided me a sample of an amazing Pinot grigio that was crisp, light, and had an amazing hint of honey suckle and pineapple. Wow! I immediately decided that I would take this home along with a sauvingion blanc that he also recommend! For two bottles, it only cost me $26! Most of their wines are under $20! Such a great deal! They have free wine tasting on Fridays at 5 pm, so in a couple of weeks, I may have to check it out!

Wonderful local wine cellar. The owner was incredibly sweet and helpful, and made sure I found what I was looking for. He offered a sample of a sweet Italian moscato that was absolutely amazing, so I purchased a bottle of it in additional to another moscato and a white wine. They offered unique brands that I had never seen before (at extremely reasonable prices), and they have 300 different wines every day. There are only 2-3 bottles of each for most of them, but you can order more in advance. Love that I live so close. Will be a regular for sure!

My friends and I were going to eat in Durham near this area, but wanted to find something to do before our other friend got off work. Through some searching my friend found out they do a free wine tasting on Fridays here. Two of our favorite things: free and wine! This is a small family owned wine shop in a shopping center. There are many restaurants and businesses in the area. I love that it is a family business. It gives it a very welcoming feel. Everyone is very friendly and extremely helpful. They are very knowledgeable about all of the wines and that's awesome. I like wine, but don't know much and I'm trying to figure out what I really like so it's great to have people who are so helpful. Many of the wines around the store have descriptions near them as well as suggestions on food/dessert pairings. There were 4 wines for tasting that day. I enjoyed trying them, but do wish the pours were a bit larger so I could really have an idea of which I liked. They did also have a few snacks to pair as well. Overall great experience and I would go back!

We have been coming here for 3 years. Before we moved to the area, we would come visit my son and his wife. He was working at a hospital in Durham and getting ready to go to ECU. His wife is somewhat of a connoisseur, they suggested we accompany them to a local Wine Tasting. We obliged and we found ourselves walking through the doorways of The Wine Cellar. We were promptly greeted and made us feel like family. Danny ( X-Marine ) & Doreen are gracious hosts. They enjoy their craft and know it quite well. Hey most of us know the big labels or the good wines we have found my mistake. No mistake here , they will guide you to the perfect wine to what your taste might be. We have never been steered wrong here and we have bought many, many bottles from them. If you want to keep up with the up and coming events, get on the e mail list. they have many promotional specials going on for business and companies. Very creative with their expert service. If this is your first visit here or you are a regular, you will enjoy the hospitality Doreen and Danny pour out. They make it fun to buy wine , yes the wine you will like. Cheers !

Small little wine store in a strip mall setting that always has a really nice selection of offerings. Stopped by again recently for their Spring Wine Tasting, where their distributors all brought by 4-6 wines and you wandered the tables to try ~40+ wines. All the bottles were available to buy that day at a considerable discount, and has them available for pick-up shortly after. Normal prices are quite competitive, and owners are friendly and very willing to order wines they don't currently stock. Offers free wine tastings a few days each week, normally quite good!

Cute little place with a very friendly owner! I was enticed to come in for a free wine tasting on Saturday -- they had five bottles to try (three whites, two reds) and were offering them at discount prices; so it's a great way to get introduced to new wines. They also serve some snacks, so you can munch while you sip. They offer a wine-a-month club and discounts on cases purchased. The owner remembered friends we came with who had stopped in before -- so he chatted us up and encouraged us to try the once-a-month Girls' Night which Caroline has already given good information on. Phil and I were looking for a specific vineyard, and though they didn't carry it, they were more than happy to order it or help us find something comparable. This personable kind of management and special events are the reason that local cellars outshine Total Wine stores any day.EDIT:Just learned that if you buy a bottle of wine here, you can walk it on over to the Nantucket in Sutton Station to enjoy it. They have an arrangement with Nantucket who will uncork it for free!

The Wine Cellar, as De Gustibus is now called, is one of the highlights of the Sutton Station shopping center. They're a family-owned wine store, with knowledgeable and friendly owners, as well as an eclectic array of reasonably priced wines from all over the globe. Best of all, The Wine Cellar has free tastings on alternating Friday and Saturday evenings, and a "Girl's Night Out" tasting, for $5pp once a month. These tastings are fun and casual, and the wines are very good - as a result, I've ended up buying a few bottles that I would never have thought to try otherwise. That's the only danger in becoming a regular at the Wine Cellar - you seldom go home empty-handed!

I've been getting my wine from The Wine Cellar for the last 10 years. The shop is family owned and operated - Danny, Doreen, and Patrick are all extremely knowledgeable and will help you select the perfect bottle of wine. They aren't pretentious so just let them know your price range and they will find you something delicious. The shop runs a free wine tasting on Friday evenings - don't be shy about asking for a second taste of a wine you like! They also do formal wine tastings (usually a $5 fee) on some Saturdays as well as wine dinners once a month plus a Wine Expo in the Spring and Fall. You can even book private wine tasting events which are great for groups up to 30 people in size.

Since I moved, I generally frequent HVBS, or, on my way home from work in downtown Durham, The Wine Authorities or Sam's Quik Shop, but it's always a delight to stop by The Wine Cellar, which is in Sutton Station on Fayetteville in between 54 and Woodcroft Pkwy.As others have already mentioned, co-owner Doreen is really friendly and helpful. Last I visited, it was coincidentally during a tasting, and I was very pleased with the offerings and atmosphere accompanying it.I'm a beer girl, so typically when shopping for wine, I just like to browse, but the owner is great about helping you find something you are guaranteed to like. And, if you are looking for something specific that they don't carry, they will gladly order it for you.One super cool offering that I'd like to give a whirl: the Second Friday Wine Club, where you can choose to receive a half or full case of your favorite style of wine on the second Friday of each month. You set the parameters: red, white, sweet, dry, or a variety, if you're feeling adventurous; they'll put together a great selection based on your preferences and you pay the average price of the bottles after a 5% discount on half cases and a 10% discount on full cases. Good deal!
