Not too crowded, seated immediately on a holiday weekday, and accommodating with the high chair and a frustrated baby.The customer service was pretty good. They were not serving steak dishes so that took away some options bc my husband wanted the carne asada burrito that was on their featured dishes. They also were out of the hash brown casserole but offered to substitute for fruit grits or oatmeal. I ordered the brisket scramble. The brisket scramble had a lot of flavor and a good amount of spice. I opted to get the cheese grits since I could not get the hash browns. The cheese grits were okay just more pepper than cheese. My biscuit was dry but I ate half with the strawberry spread. My husband had a regular breakfast with scrambled eggs and cheese, bacon, and regular grits. He opted for the French toast and he said they were pretty good. With his meal the scrambled eggs were too cheesy, which made them runny or more like a soft scramble. I loved my alcoholic beverage! I had their frozen seasonal drink and it was delicious. The two drinks my husband had were watered down and lacked flavor. Frozen is the way to go here.

When I do Yelp restaurant reviews, I only rate the food.I do not rate the service, decor, parking, food temperature, size of the portions, price, ambient noise, atmosphere, wait time, or any other non-food issues.My wife and I ate at The Toasted Yolk today. As I often do, I ordered eggs benedict - except, at this restaurant it is not named eggs benedict - it is named "THE CLASSIC ARNOLD, formally known as the Benedict".So, perhaps this is some type of truth in advertising?"The Classic Arnold" was OK. I somewhat enjoyed it - and, I would think most people who like eggs benedict would be OK with it. But, the hollandaise sauce was watered down - and, maybe that is part of the reason it is not called eggs benedict?Anyway, the reason I'm writing this review is because of the other ratings individuals have given this restaurant. All of the 5 and 4 star ratings are ridiculous. I'm not picking on this particular restaurant. It is a perfectly OK restaurant. But, I recently dined at Brennans - which I guess is a 4-star restaurant. And, I have been fortunate to have dined at what a lot of people would refer to as 5-star restaurants. What are people thinking when they rate a reasonably above average restaurant like The Toasted Yolk as 5-star?

We were looking for a brunch spot on a Sunday and didn't realize there was a Toasted Yolk in Sugar Land Town Square. We were greeted and sat down pretty quickly. The given menus were sticky, but that the case in majority brunch/breakfast spots... our waitress asks for our drink orders. The toasted yolk coffee-- comes hot. I wish it was on ice but, overall yummy alcoholic coffee beverage. We order fried banana peppers for an appetizer, I would say that was my favorite thing. I had the Cajun shrimp and grits. It wasn't bad, but nothing to rave about. Elvis ordered the southern fried Arnold... all the food came out, except for his. We wait around and about 10 mins later our waitress comes out and tells us that they're out of chicken tenders! He orders something different, we wait another 10-15 mins and then his original order comes out. She tells us, oh they were able to make this last one! Hmmm.. that was a little questionable. We also ordered a caramel macchiato, which I had to remind her. When it arrived it was watered down... I wasn't a fan of this brunch spot.

I've tried this place before and have been wanting to give it another go and I'm glad I finally did. I tried the Shrimp Omelet, which was a delicious and filling way to start my day. The omelet was made with bacon bits, cheese, shrimp and sliced mushrooms. Everything, including the seasoning and tasty siracha sauce was a delicious blend of flavors. The meal is served with fresh fruit and salad topped with a scrumptious lemon vinaigrette sauce. I highly recommend this meal and will have it again on my next visit!This place is now on my breakfast rotation list. Yum!

Service was awkward and not friendly at all from either the hostess and the waitress. Food is mediocre. The hot chocolate is made with water. I asked for over medium eggs and got over easy which is fine but for charging $2 per egg, it would be nice to get them made right. We were brought a syrup bottle with food on it from the other table it was taken from. Sausage Patties were like the ones you buy frozen at the grocery store. Everything was pretty flavorless and uninspiring. My little sister who isn't picky at all also said her food was not good. The ambiance was the only redeeming part.
