The Studewood Cantine

I've never been disappointed after leaving here. I've never had to wait for a table, the food and service is always excellent, and they have a great patio. There's not much signage so this place falls under the radar. Highly recommend!

Great food, great serviceAllowed a party of 30 for my birthday without a deposit with separate drink tickets. Easy to work with for large parties - margs and fajitas were a cherry on top

This place is such a nice area in the heights. I absolutely love the way it is set up. Very nice ambiance. The food, is also amazing. we got the fajitas and honestly they did not disappoint. Perfect spot for a date night. I would recommend others to give it a chance. It is a little bit more on the pricey side. Our server was so nice and attentive. Everyone was so friendly including the bussers that brought out the chips and salsa. They even gave us some to go!

I got here by mistake, our spot was closed and I just looked for happy hours nearby, I noticed that this place had thursday ALL DAY happy hour, Ive never been so happy for a Thursday before. We headed there around 4pm, it was pretty empty so the service was immediate.We ordered some margaritas they brought us salsas and a basket of chips, and we ordered some of the special for happy hour.I was surprised of how good and how big the portions were even for happy hour snacks/food, those margaritas were hitting perfectly, so we just ordered some more food and drinks, and the music was nice and good volume so we could talk and enjoy ourselves, definitely will add this place to my regular spots ++++++++++(try the asada tacos on corn tortilla)++++++++++++

Went here for a date night and we were deff the best dressed, but we didn't care. The service was quick. It seemed to be more of a post work/happy hour vibe. Two families were there with baby strollers so it is friendly for that. The music took a 180 right before we left which was interesting. Food was good for a Tex-mex place.

Absolutely amazing! The depth of the cooking was on target. Fajitas with rare and well done pieces. Rice and beans were so fresh. Tortillas were perfect! Onions were equally skillful to the meat. Not greasy and still a bit of a bite. Loved it! Trust me this was epic fajitas at 2pm on a Monday. That kind of skill is developed over a long time. Go check it out. Plenty of parking and a very friendly staff and atmosphere.

I've been to this location a handful of times and each time the service and staff is on point. There are plenty of TVs to watch the game around their restaurant. I don't recommend sitting in the back door the restroom because it smells bad back there. The last time we went, we got stuck in the back and it was not as enjoyable.The food is always great, and the portions are large. The parking is kind of dicey. There is a parking lot across the street but sometimes it's full and you have to find street parking down the street.

Studewood Cantine is a slightly more upscale Tex-Mex restaurant that opened a few years ago, right after I moved away from the area.Since I have kept up with the Houston Tex-Mex scene, I have visited this place several times over the years. In fact, this place happened to be the very last place I dined out for dinner before the world shut down in March of 2020 - awesome memories! But, I have been back several times since, and they have yet to disappoint.Located in the lower Heights right where Montrose Blvd. becomes Studewood St., it has become a cozy neighborhood spot for locals craving casual Houston Tex-Mex. It has all of the classic messy plates, many of the newer popular Tex-Mex dishes, and amazing grilled platters. It is probably not hard to guess what my favorite thing on the menu is here - the beef fajitas! They are really something to be desired.It also has a comfortable spacious atmosphere including a nice patio that is ideal for sitting outside when the weather is nice, and appears to have always been managed well. The servers and everyone else who works here have always been very prompt and courteous.If you are in the area and looking for some really great Houston Tex-Mex, consider stopping by here. I am fairly certain you will enjoy what Studewood Cantine has to offer!

Delicious food. Great service. Street tacos and queso were the best. Good music too !

Ambiance: Fun & upbeat Mexican spot with a great patio! We loved sitting outside on a nice day and grabbing cocktails with appetizers. The sangrias were some of the best I've had in Houston and we loved the guacamole. Quick service and kind servers. A bit on the pricey side, but delicious drinks & food! Limited parking available, street parking was the main option. Bar seating and regular tables available inside as well. Definitely would go back if in the area.
