I read about this gem in The Houston Press and had to check it out. It's a cute and quaint bar frequented by regulars who have been coming here for many years. This place is so unassuming because it's located in a sketchy neighborhood. We started with an ice cold Corona served by the friendly bartender, Kara, with a K. We met a new friend named Jojo who has been coming here for years and gave us the low down about the bar. This is Houston's best kept secret. When the Astros play, they serve $2 hamburgers, we got 3, they were homemade and so delicious! We also had the Monte Cristo sandwich and it was amazing. We had so much fun visiting this bar and plan on coming back. The ambiance was lively, lots of people talking, laughing and having fun. They have pool tables and games that you can enjoy. We definitely plan on coming back!

Arrived at 6:56 pm Sunday ordered one drink when I arrived for about $7. Tipped $8. Waited until 7:32 pm. Bartender never came back to check on me, I was definitely looking to spend more money, drink, and tip on top of that. I was sadly ignored while she offered Everyone at the bar pizza and her regulars, while I couldn't order anything because I was ignored. I've been living in the neighborhood for about 13 years now. The service is very hit or miss with the female staff unfortunately. When I do come the guys give better service, and more attention to detail. I have been in the hospitality field the last 17 years. I Would like to see ALL bars and concepts alike succeed. But skip this place.

Good neighborhood dive bar. Appreciate the wide range of patrons - age, ethnicity, etc. Nothing fancy or upscale here. Really tasty food with good dinner and lunch specials. Affordable drinks. Usually one bartender scheduled.

The service was great, very attentive with guests and your needs on your night out. Unfortunately I was a bit late for the food service, but I've heard good things from it all. Over all people were great, good music good drinks, definitely one of my favorites here in Houston

I dont drink, so what am i doing here twice a week. Its for the food ,This place should be on Diners, drive ins and dives. You wont believe what that little (tiny) kitchen put out, NOT TYPICAL BAR FOOD. same chef for over 30 years. Everything is hand made fresh to order. Now the bar itself is kinda quiet, the entire bar and sconces along with much more items were removed from the historic Shamrock Inn and relocated here. It true houston history.

First time coming here, and man let me just say, I will be back! Monica the bartender is so nice and fun to talk to. Definitely recommend if you like to have a beer and some awesome crunchy onion rings!
