During my recent visit to The Restaurant at The Durham for brunch, I had the pleasure of ordering from their weekend brunch menu. The Breakfast Fried Rice that I selected, featuring wild-caught NC shrimp, roasted mushrooms, broccoli, edamame, jasmine rice in a soy-ginger sauce, omelet, and Yum Yum Sauce, was delicious. To complement my meal, I also opted for the Pomegranate Hibiscus Spritzer mocktail. The servers were great and even in passing every staff i encountered was pleasant. On a different note, I couldn't help but notice that the water glasses on the table had noticeable water stains. Given the elegant setting of the hotel lighting fixtures and the significance of first impressions for me, it was a bit of a setback to observe this. The hostess tried to find me a glass that wasn't stained but never returned. I ended up passing on water. I would suggest improving the glasses by removing the stains or getting new ones. I would also recommend a better clean-up of the seating after each guest. I saw a few crumbs.Parking was effortless. A parking deck is right across the street. It's free on the weekends.

In a hip part of Downtown Durham, you'll find The Durham Hotel. The Restaurant at The Durham promises an upscale dining experience. Our anticipation something really special for Mother's Day, coinciding with a special birthday celebration, was met with "meh".From the moment we arrived on time for our reservation, the seating was prompt, yet it took a surprising 10 to 15 minutes before we were even greeted with water. The limited Mother's Day brunch menu offered selections like chicken and French toast, and steak & eggs, which sounded promising. However, the starter, a bread and pastry platter, was hard and cold. The ambiance, including a flower arrangement directly in front of us, featured shriveled and dead flowers that seemed forgotten, much like the occasion. When our meals finally arrived after a hour-long wait, the presentation was commendable but did not fully compensate for the overall taste and the fact that it left some of us feeling unwell. While The Restaurant at The Durham holds potential for a fine dining spot in Durham, my experience underscores the crucial need for attention to detail and preparedness on significant occasions. Here's hoping for improvement, as the staff certainly carries the torch under challenging circumstances.

My partner and I made reservations for brunch. The ambience of the restaurant gave retro 70s vibes which was cozy. I ordered the Breakfast Fried Rice and my partner ordered The Full Durham. The breakfast fried rice was very flavorful and savory, and the egg was very fluffy. The full Durham included a lot of food - I found the home fries to be tasty, but I wish they were a little more seasoned. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely return to check out the dinner menu.

Dined here for brunch and for the first time and was instantly impressed. The space was quiet and clean, the staff was friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious. We ordered the breakfast fried rice, a pomegranate mimosa, and a Durham coffee milk with caramel. The coffee was really delicious and not too sweet even though they use in house made syrup. The rice had a spice to it but it wasn't too bad. They serve brunch from 1030-2 and you can make reservations on open table. I will surely return.

After flying all day, I was hopeful to get a nice meal for dinner. Everywhere in Durham was packed with hours long waits and/or reservation only. So, I should've known when we entered the empty Durham restaurant that it wasn't going to be great. At that point, it was late and we just needed food. The decor is a mix of 70's and 90's attempting to be updated and classy. They certainly charge classy prices but the atmosphere and food just doesn't hit the mark. The menu is fairly limited. Our server was pleasant but we were left with empty water glasses a few times. My mushroom risotto was extremely salty and just really lacked good flavor. It was very heavy. I barely ate it and the server didn't ask if I enjoyed it or needed a box. I would imagine it's because she knew it was bad. My husband got a burger and it was okay. My son got chicken fingers and they were also okay. The bill would've been fine if the food was good but it just wasn't. They have a lot of space so if you need food, it's fine...I guess.

Service was on point, professional, and courteous. Food was excellent - high quality and a very tasteful and elegant preparation. Wish the flounder was a larger size - my only hold back from five stars in all areas. Certainly delicious though in mussels and onion based sauce.. Dining room has a modern, classy and spacious feel to it. We'll be back again!

The restaurant is located in the boutique Durham Hotel. The restaurant is located just inside the entrance and is stunning with the high ceilings and decor. The Restaurant at The Durham takes reservations and is near a parking garage if you cannot find street parking. The restaurant lacked actual menus and just had the QR code menu available. Service was ok here but not that attentive as we never got drink refills; offered dessert; and the checks were not given to each of us but just stacked on the table.I ordered the breakfast rice and while I enjoyed the fried rice, I was expecting shrimp in it. I didn't find any until the rice at the top was eaten. It looked like one piece of shrimp was cut up and added to the dish rather than having full size shrimp in the dish. Shrimp was the first ingredient listed so I expected several pieces. The dish had an omelet on top of the rice. The flavor was good although I would have liked more veggies in the rice instead of an omelet on rice. I wouldn't order this dish again. If there was more shrimp and veggies in the rice it would have been a great dish.

I made a reservation for the weekend brunch on a Saturday morning at The Restaurant at the Durham Hotel after wanting to try their brunch for sometime, and I'm so glad I did. I was seated right away, but unfortunately, I had to ask the hostess if there was a server for my table after 15 minutes of waiting. Once my server came to my table with water, she was very attentive. I asked for her top suggestions, and she was very helpful. I started with a pineapple mimosa and their house made biscuits with jam...what an amazing way to start brunch. I then had the breakfast fried rice, which is NC pork belly & wild shrimp, roasted mushrooms & onions, edamame, jasmine rice, soy-ginger, Japanese omelet & Yum Yum Sauce. Also so delicious. The atmosphere was amazing, open and beautiful. The service was good and the food was delicious. I'll definitely be back again for brunch, and looking to have dinner there soon.

I came here for breakfast one day since I was staying at the hotel. I sat for like 20 minutes before I realized no one was coming to take my order. I asked someone and she was like you have to order at the bar. That was definitely not clear when I got there. I got a breakfast sandwich and cappuccino. The breakfast sandwich came with a side of fruit. I wasn't a huge fan of the breakfast sandwich which was on the greasier side. The fruit was a mix of cantaloupe, melon, and strawberries (there were only a couple of these). The cappuccino was good though.
