Stopped by Sunday afternoon for a pint and fish and chips. We ordered their app buffalo tenders which are awesome. While waiting for the app, about 10 min later, we ordered the fish and chips. Sure enough, the clueless guy brings both the app and meal together. They really need to get their act together on this. The waitress should be involved in bringing out the food when appropriate, not using runners who have no idea of timing. So, after some discussion which got us nowhere, we accepted both and ate the app while the fish and chips got cold. The place seems to be overrun by servers, who congregate around the rest rooms looking at their phones. Our server was awesome. The Irish band was great, but getting too big, there were about 15 musicians there yesterday.

Went to the Plough and the Stars last night with a pretty big group for apps and drinks. We were seated upstairs at a big table.Great bread baskets were brought to the table in quick time. I ordered a sangria and then swapped with a friend who ordered a vodka lemonade.I sampled the following apps:Beer battered bangers-thought this may have been a twist on pigs in a blanket, it was not, two big battered bangersChicken tenders-Both buffalo and plain were ordered, actually thought the tenders were the winners of the app raceHummus platter-Ok, appreciated the generous amount of olivesShrimp cocktail-Tried a shrimp, solid! The main problem with this gathering was that we were sandwiched between a loud and large TV screen on one side and a live group of musicians on the other, it was close to impossible to have a conversation.

Fun Irish pub in Old City Philly. Family friendly with standard kids menu fair. The kids chicken strip meal was extra tasty however - organic chicken that was hand breaded fresh! We dined outside - perfect spot for people watching! Shepherds Pie & Bread Pudding are delish - don't miss it! Our server prepared special Ice cream sundaes for our 3 boys which was above and beyond a complete with whipped topping and a cherry!

Stopped in here for a late lunch on a Sunday, and it just so happened to still be brunch! We opted for the shepherds pie after seeing how beautiful it was getting delivered to another table! Service was quick and attentive.

Probably one of the best fish & chips I've had in the US. The mushroom soup I had was good too. The portions were generous but not too much. The service was excellent. I'd definitely go back if giving the opportunity!!

Two floors, quite spacious for a bar but the layout is strange. Bathroom is small too.Appreciate the variety and attempt at food for a bar place. Food is okay.

Came here on a Wednesday night and they sat us immediately and outside! Server was great and attentive. We asked for medium rare Lamb Lollys and they came out overdone. The fish was hugeee in the fish & chips meal. Very delicious and it was a sliced filet, so no bones. Wings were also delicious, but I thought it had too much buffalo sauce. Unfortunately there were no additional wing options. Very chill ambiance

My new favorite Irish Restaurant. Irish restaurants to me have such a warm, friendly, bonded feel to them. It as if we all step outside from the world's troubles and we are all here to drink, eat, and perhaps dance to an Irish jig, I am thinking the Devil's Dance Floor or a similar rowdy fun bar song.Five in the afternoon my girlfriend and I arrived at The Plough & The Stars after participating in a scavenger hunt at and around the Olde City area. We worked up quite an appetite, luckily my gf explained to me they start you off with some of the finest warm Irish Soda Bread to start your meal. The bread was some of the finest I have had in my life in regard to Irish Soda Bread and I took it down in record speed. They also had an option of brown bread that was a bit sweet and much different from the comfort of Irish Soda Bread. We both ordered the Guinness Casserole which consisted of meat that was so moist and delicious you truly did not need a knife to cut through the meat. The Chef in all serious must have a talent for presentation on all their mash potatoes as this entree came out very artisan looking for the portion of mash potatoes. I saw a presentation of the potatoes for the pork ribeye platter, and they had stellar black grill marks on the top of the mashed potatoes. Bravo making a relatively simple side beautifully presented, if anyone was going to do it I guess it would be the Irish : )I started with a 20oz of Harp on draft which our server described as the bud light of Irish Beers. He was not wrong, but it is a very easily drinkable beer. After downing about half of it I asked to sample the Smithwick's Irish Ale. This was the winner of the day and I immediately moved to a 20oz of Smithwick's. The only spot I could possibly ding the restaurant on is I ordered a piece of the flourless chocolate cake to go and when seeing the receipt well it came in at just shy of ten dollars for a piece of cake. I just tried it this morning as I am writing this review and it is slightly bittersweet chocolate that will certainly cleanse your palate after a meal, but I would opt not to get next time.Really enjoyed our stop in here and would highly recommend you check it out if you are in the city and looking for some solid Irish Food.As always people SYOY!!!
