I don't know why this place isn't packed. The food was delicious and the staff was lovely. My only criticism would be that the "regular" medium heat (supposedly a bit hotter than that "American" medium heat) was not very hot, but the flavors were very satisfying. I don't usually get seafood at Indian restaurants, but we were pleasantly surprised by the Shrimp Shahi Korma. The large shrimp were not overcooked and were smothered in a rich, complex sauce. We also got a Samosa Chat, a samosa with chickpea filling. Delicious and quite "meaty" for a vegetarian dish. The coconut naan was sweet enough to be dessert, but was a nice complement to the curries. The atmosphere of the restaurant was pretty and the outdoor space covered in Isaiah Zagar mosaic was a treat on a beautiful spring night. It should have been filled with people, though. Please check out this terrific addition to Philadelphia's Indian options. I only wish I still lived in South Philadelphia so I could get takeout all the time!

Had a lovely time popping into The Palace of Indian. A South Philly (Passyunk) spot that I'll definitely be coming back to. I had to get the go to Butter Chicken. Excellent. I love spicy food so I went with the 8/10 on the spicy level. Next time I'll have to try the 10. Staff was great. They made some recommendations that really took the meal to the next level. Awesome folks here.

Great spot ! Came here after passing it daily--we got the Samosa Chat, Malai Kofta, Mixed Vegetable Makhni, and Garlic Naan. 10/10 would definitely have again. Service was great. Our server at one point did ask if my partner and I were sisters which was a shock but otherwise we had a lovely time.

The Palace of India restaurant has an inviting and spacious atmosphere, with indoor and outdoor seating. I tried the refreshing cucumber salad, which had a good portion size and was full of great acidic flavors. It paired perfectly with the meat sampler, which was medium spicy and included tender chicken and kababs that were rather sweet. The Lamb Sambusa was very tasty and something I'd order again. The garlic naan was fluffy and aromatic of garlic with a slight crunch in texture. The naan bread tasted great with the chicken soup, which was medium in heat and with several shredded pieces of chicken infused with a blend of herbs and spices. I've tried the Tandoori chicken and Tandoori shrimp on separate occasions, and both were absolutely delicious. Opting for the spicy version added an extra dimension of flavor, and the dishes come with a generous serving of peppers and onions. Every meal I've tried at the Palace of India has been great. The restaurant consistently delivers on flavor, portion size, and quality.

The Palace of Indian really really impressed me. It's officially my favorite Indian restaurant in South Philly! We arrived on a Tuesday night and the restaurant wasn't too busy. We were seated right away. The restaurant is small but clean and cute. The service was a little slow but the food really made up for it. We started with the mixed parkora. They were made of cauliflower, onion, potato, and spinach. They were perfectly crispy with tasty seasoning over them. For our main dishes, we ordered the butter chicken and the chicken dhaniwal korma. All we could say was WOW. The full bodied flavor, freshness, and quality was unmatched! It was my first time trying chicken dhaniwal korma and it was fantastic! The cilantro really gives the dish a beautiful savory flavor. A few other things I loved about this restaurant is that all of their chicken dishes are made with white meat and they are BYOB. What more can you really ask for?!

This place is delicious! Ordered takeout last night, everything came still so hot & entire order was correct. Food was incredible: palak paneer (maybe the best I've ever had), lamb samosas, garlic & cheese naan was amazing, the vegetable Mulligatawany soup was so interesting & delicious, & the Baingan Bartha was so tasty. I can't wait to order from here again.

We have ordered take out from this place several times and the food is consistently good. We've even catered from here for parties and generally received positive feedback from family and friends. They are in passayunk square so a bit further from some of the center city options for Indian food, however their consistency in quality and flavor have us coming back and keeping this place in our rotation of options. In person dining ambiance is mediocre, it's not super fancy or fine dining but it isn't a hole in the wall either. Their mild food is flavorful and mild enough for our kids to enjoy. American medium adds a little bit more heat and medium is spicy enough for most Indian taste buds. Only try super hot if you're trying to complete a challenge or a dare, cause at that point you don't taste the flavor of the food, but just the heat. Would recommend this place to family and continue ordering take out every now and then.

They have a beautiful outdoor patio space. Fast and efficient service. Try the garlic cheese naan if you can. Additionally, the portion sizes were really good for sharing. Would recommend the Chicken Dopiaza and any of the vindaloo. Honestly, anything is really good.

My partner and I recently moved to the neighborhood.. he's had Indian food at hundred different restaurants in at least five different countries (not an exaggeration) and we both agree that this is likely the BEST Indian food we've ever had. We are so excited that this restaurant is in our neighborhood. The naan bread was cooked perfectly -- very light and freshly cooked. We had the chicken saag and chicken dopiaza and it was absolutely delicious. It is also BYOB which is a plus! We will be back a hundred times over.. thank you for a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner!
