The vibes are really good. Feels authentic and smells authentic when you walk in. My colleague had the Fajitas and I had Tejanas Enchiladas. Both 4/5. Taste really good but not the best I ever had. Ranch water - decent. Needs more tequila. Service was also good.

I've been wanting to try the Original Ninfa's forever, ever since I discovered that this establishment invented what we now refer to as fajitas, and they were tasty. There's lots of parking but it's gets filled up quick. We were able to find a spot. Luckily we were able to find two free spots at their bar. I wanted something different and I was getting over a cold and decided to have their caldo. I also had a aguas frescas papaya, I never see papaya on a menu and it was delicious, refreshing and not too sweet. The queso was good, their chips and salsa, good. My friend had their tacos al carbon, it's a hefty serving. Their caldo had masa, similar to matzo balls, lots of shredded chicken chunks, and was accompanied by some fried chicken skin on the side, and avocado slices, pico and lime. It was definitely comforting and tasted delicious. I love sitting at the bar because you're able to be served quickly and there was lots of art work adorning their walls behind the bar, murals of Ninfa's life. Plus the service was great, they were attentive and personable. While the Astros play they have $5 mexican candy shots and a special shot when the Astros go into post season. We were also pleasantly informed that there is a shuttle to and from games an hour before and after to and from Minute Maid park, what a genius idea. I shall return to try more of their menu.

I was caught between a 3 and a 4 rating. Parking- lot is pretty large and some street parking (free)Location- decor is traditional Mexican restaurant vibe; felt a little crowded and cramped inside...especially when using the restroomStaff- fine...nothing extraordinary but no real problems eitherFood- chips and salsa and handmade tortillas were all definitely good; drinks were good; food was average to me...I got the Tejas combo which was a hard taco, fajitas, and cheese enchilada. We also got the free queso with check-in that we were not impressed withPrices- reasonable

We went in a Saturday night, so it was very busy. Be ready to wait in line if you are going on a busy night! They bring chips and salsas to the table for you snack on while you wait on your food and I have to say that those chips are elite. They are very crunchy and thick, as for the salsa they are very tasty and rich with flavor. The tacos were also very good, I got one chicken and one beef to try and definitely go with the beef as the meat was very tasty and juicy. It all tastes fresh as you would expect from an established restaurant such as this one. The only thing I found that could be a bit improved in was our server, he was not very helpful with suggesting items to choose from when asked, and was almost just an order taker that was doing the bare minimum with no desire to engage in conversation with us. I really enjoyed this establishment and will visit again soon.

hey don't call it the original for nothing! We went next door first and realized we wanted something more authentic. I'm glad we did. Magda took care of our table. I had a gift from a friend that I left and later had to return for. Thank God they kept it in the office! Thanks Lulu! The staff is unmatched. We were well attended and very happy at our table. We all ordered the Enchiladas Suizas. We couldn't go wrong with that! Thank you for hanging on to my gift and for the excellent service!

Trivia: Will you receive your food before you finish your chips and salsa? This was stop #1 on the places, "we absolutely had to try" according to a local Houstonian who is a dear friend of mine. We hadn't even been off the plane two hours, but we sort of have this thing that the first place we try is Mexican food. Two very quick, very opinionated statements that I feel like I should apologize for saying, but wont:1. Anyone who gives this place less than five stars is wrong. (Strong opinion? Yes. Wrong? Try this place). 2. Anyone who wants to do Mexican better should ask this place how they do it.The entire experience consisted of "Oh my gawd," and "this taste so good" and "what did they toss this lettuce in?"We were seated at a high top on the bar right next to the door to the outdoor patio. Which meant every time the door opened there was a rush of wind. This was sort of a paradox in enjoyment. On one hand the menus and chips rustled a bit, and on the other hand the muggy humid night was made better each time with a rush a luxurious lightly cooked air.The salsas were tasty without being too hot or too mild. It's like they have mastered the perfect level of spice in pre meal salsa. How can a salad taste so good? What do they toss the lettuce in? Just so good. Delightful service. On top of things. Friendly despite being super busy. (Which I imagine is the norm here.)

Very lively and nothing but delicious food. We came here after being recommended by a local. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. There were tons of locals on a weekday during lunch. This place gets really crowded, there was a wait when we arrived but we were luckily to have gotten reservations a few days in advance so we were able to just walk in. We tried the mixed fajitas which had steak, chicken and shrimp. It was really good, everything was tender and flavorful. We also had the crab appetizer and their guac and chips. Their portions are big and we were stuff. They have a few locations but this is the original where the the fajita was said to have been created. Highly recommend making reservations in advance so you can avoid the wait.

The OG spot. So I've never been to this location that I can recall but we went for a team lunch on a Friday afternoon. There were 7 of us and we got there right when they opened at 11 am. Seated immediately. Martha took care of us and she was great. Complimentary chips and salsa (red and green). The chips were hard fried and thick and the salsas were a bit bland for me and not spicy at all.I ordered the combo fajitas. Came with rice. I didn't want beans, tortillas, guacamole, pico, sour cream. She asked if I wanted jalapeños, and I said yes. The food portion was not worth the $36 price tag. The flour tortillas were very thick which didn't seem to keep the warmth well. The chicken and beef were flavorful. And the jalapeños she asked me about were not included which I found odd and cost me an additional $2. Overall, the friendliness of the staff made it easy to accept the overpriced food. Not against going back but will def pass on the fajitas next time.

Out of a four day trip I ate here twice! Had the steak, rice & beans, and one of their breakfast dishes. The handmade tortillas are next level and the drinks are nice and strong! Our server (Alvin) was a gem and actually waited on us both times and remembered our orders. Parts of the restaurant I believe retained its original decor.
