Tucked away at the end of a strip mall stands The Mill. The building is wrapped in dark windows, and because of this, I thought I was going to step into a sports bar, but this was not the case. Stepping in, there are multiple small tables and booths sporting wood facing tops. A wrap around bar with a plethora of spirits also greets you. Beyond the bar is a more formal and beautiful dining area and sleek and clean bathrooms. As it was just me in the bar area, I decided to sit here. My waiter warmly greeted me and gave me a menu. Their food menu has a few appetizers, small plates, salads, and entrees. I asked about the size of the small plates and then decided on the rye crusted salmon. My waiter told me it was one of their best selling items, and I see why. The salmon is thick and plated so beautifully! It had an amazing balance of crispness and softness. I love that it was cooked to a medium temperature, had a golden brown crisp, and was topped with pickled mustard seeds. Omg! Every bite was amazing. I love that hidden potatoes and onions tucked under the salmon that paired so well with the cream sauce. Wow, wow, and wow again. Do not let the price stop you from ordering this dish as it is worth every dollar of the $26! The service was phenomenal as I was constantly checked on and did not feel rushed at all. I can't wait to come back for one of their cocktails as they look amazing!Do not miss out on the Mill--a hidden gem amongst many restaurants and stores.

I had one really good meal quite a few months ago followed by two not good meals. Now I'm hesitant to go back. I really want to have a place within walking distance and I love the outdoor space but two special occasions have been dampened by bad meals now. Pros: nice space and atmosphere, outdoor seating. Cons: the meals themselves need quality checking and perhaps recipe changes. This time was Mother's Day and I regretted booking our reservation there. The American breakfast was listed online but then wasn't on the menu (?). Waitress said they could make it for us anyway. Quiche sounded good but came with salad. I don't eat salad for breakfast and I don't know anyone that does. I could switch it to grits for $2 extra which would make quiche and grits $18 . I'm pretty sure grits are cheaper than salad lol. Salad was also the only option on the omelette without the up charge. I went with the American for $12 which is a great price. Eggs, ok. Toast, good. Grits, brown, clumpy, not hot and completely tasteless. No matter how much butter and salt I added. We are in the south you need good grits. Bacon, basically burned. I asked for crispy. The music was also awful for Mother's Day. Too loud, too dead head rockNroll screechy. I regretted taking my mom there, unfortunately. Her meal had the same issues. The waitress never asked how the meal was and forgot our jelly. A second guy forgot it too. See photo.

My fiancé and I had a really great first experience at the Mill. First thing you notice walking in is just how large this space is. We had a reservation but went with a high-top in the bar area (this place is huge) instead. Our server Drew was great; he was attentive, kind and knowledgeable about the menu. We didn't order any cocktails so I can't speak to their quality but they have a broad selection of their own. Our starter was the Salmon tartare. This was the only glaring weak spot in the evening. The salmon tasted good, but is was piled on top of what tasted like a stale piece of cornbread, so you had to vigorously cut it with a butter knife. Not what we were expecting. As for the main course, we got the NY Strip and Trout and both were on point and cooked to our liking. I would recommend the Mill for anyone looking for a casual / if slightly upscale dinner, and given the large space, it's easy to make this a last minute choice if you don't have a reservation. We will likely come back a second time.

The cheese board was awesome for starters, the staff was super friendly and informative. The place looked great with all the remodeling. Had the bolognese as well which was also delicious. I am a rare yelp reviewer like very rare but this place was that good and can't wait to come back and try other dishes so many dishes looked great!

My husband and I dined at The Mill and sat at the bar. It was the Mill Mule for him and a glass of rose for me with an order of the stuffed dates to start. For our meals it was the fish + chips for him and a side caesar salad with the rigatoni bolognese for me. I also tried the maple old fashioned. We really enjoyed the service, food and drinks. In my opinion this is the best that this location has been since it was Edwards Mill Bar & Grill.

It was Saturday around 5pm and we wanted to try out the re-vamped Mill. Enroute we call to see if they could accommodate a party of 7, and after the hostess checked with the manager, they said yes if you can make it in the next 10 minutes. We made it and they seated us in the dining area in the back near the patio. Surprisingly, there were only 5 other tables occupied and plenty of seating available. During our 1.5 hour dinner, the place never did pack out, so I'm not sure why it was so difficult to accept a party of 7 at 5:30pm.Moving on, our server was polite and helpful, and we got our drinks / apps. The Buffalo Wings and Onion Rings were flavorful and we devoured them quickly. Next we ventured to the Nachos, and here is where things started going South...they were extremely bland! Even the queso had no real taste to it. We asked for salsa, and they had none. We ordered the Chicken Pot Pie and Steak Frites as well, but we were left disappointed. The Pot Pie was bland too with a floppy undercooked crust. The Steak Frites came out somewhat cold. The ambience is a bit high end for what was traditionally a neighborhood bar and grill. That being said, don't go here expecting a sports bar and grill like the older versions of the restaurant. The staff is friendly and the place is clean. Plenty of parking outside as well. Overall, a meh experience...but perhaps I will give the bar side a try next time.

7 of us had an early Saturday night dinner here (with reservations), and it was delightful. The atmosphere is so inviting and comfortable, and not too loud. They have tables and booths. Our booth was comfortably large enough for all of us. I will say at first we thought we would freeze to death cause it was so cold, but when we requested to be warmed up a bit, they were kind enough to do adjust the temp.Food was terrific. We started by sharing an order of onion rings, and it was a generous enough portion that it was plenty for all of us to sample. Definitely some of the best onion rings we've ever had. Nicely seasoned. Harissa dipping sauce good. Yum!Entrees were also expertly prepared and delicious. I loved my Salmon. Husband was a fan of the Steak Frites. Others liked the New York Strip, the Pork Chop and the Cowboy Steak for two and the Fish and Chips. Love that the menu has a nice variety of casual to fancy food options.Service was good. Don't know if they have dessert or not, though. We were never offered any and didn't see a dessert menu. That was the only disappointment.Note: they have a nice looking patio area with a fire pit.I would say the Urben Food Group has another hit on their hands. Prices not crazy for the quality!

BLUF: You'll be pretty satisfied with whatever you order.Been to The Mill twice. The first time I had to get the Mill Burger, monster-fied. Boosting one pound of burger I personally had a blast! Delicious! Not many places outside of a fast food joint will do a pound burger.Second visit. Their menu is full of attractive food options and we missed out on ordering their onion rings. We watched other tables order the fish and chips and pork chops and they both looked visually enticing. In addition to the fish and chips and onion rings, we got their vegetarian shepard's pie and the mac and cheese again. The fish was fried very well, nice and crispy all over. The pie, my opinion, it was missing the meat. Yes, it is advertised as vegetarian, but it was missing some flavor balance. Even without meat the pie was missing some acidity, some more tomatoes or tomato paste could have helped. It was dry with the veggies and farro, a creamy/cheesy element inside could have helped being that it's vegetarian and not vegan, cheese isn't a no-no.Likely won't order that again, but the rest of the menu still calls to me. I'm talking about you, 40oz steak for two!

The Mill is a new restaurant is located in the Old Raleigh Village Shopping Center new Edwards Mill Road and Blue Ridge Road. The restaurant takes reservations and a group of us were able to go on a Sunday they were opened. The Mill is usually closed on Sundays. The restaurant has great decor, just love those lights and the staff is friendly but they still seem to be working out the kinks. I am sure in time this will be a great restaurant. I went with the steak frites and enjoyed it. The dessert I ordered turned out not to be available so I had to order something else. Drink refills didn't happen as expected. The biggest issue was my check and another were mixed up and neither of us noticed until after the credit cards were processed. It did get eventually corrected.I will go back in a few months and see how things have improved.
