This is where the locals eat! This was my first stop when visiting some friends in NC and it definitely gave local diner energy. The food is reasonably priced and my friends said this was their go to local spot. Just don't come and expect 5 star service. With the local vibe, comes more of a relaxed service. I saw a few reviews complain about the wait time, but I think it's because those people came in with the wrong expectations. Back to the food, tho! I got a breakfast sandwich and it was satisfying. Coffee was fresh too! Would I return for the food alone? Probably not just because it wasn't spectacular. I have been to better "local" diners where the bagels were actually toasted and portion sizes are for giants... I guess the locals in North Carolina care more about their cholesterol. Overall 3.5 out of 5.

This was our first visit and it didn't disappoint at all. We didn't know that you just grab an available table, so we stood there like a nut until someone filled us in. Once seated , we waited on quickly and got our order in. It took a while because it was a Sunday, and it was packed. But once the food arrived, it was well worth the wait. We had a very good Garden Omlette with a delicious biscuit and hash browns. The prices are very reasonable and I would easily recommend it to anyone. If you found this review helpful, please tap the thumbs up to let me know. Thanks!

We love eating at the Lantern Inn. They have really great country style breakfast and lunch. My kids love the pancakes, my wife love the bacon eggs and grits, and I love the hobo sandwiches and grits. On Friday nights they are for fish which is fried crispy but really tender on the inside. I love the sandwich called the prohibition which is a open face hamburger. We also love to get their hamburger steak.

Quaint little greasy spoon spot we stopped at for breakfast, the menu included all of your southern breakfast staples. The biscuit was especially fresh and all of our dishes came out quick enough and warm. No complaints, but nothing stood out as exceptionally well either. Service was prompt and the dining room had a nice, authentic feel. Plenty of space for large parties, probably a good spot for a bus to stop in or to bring the family in for a meal.

We have lived in Goldsboro since 2004 and today was the first and last time we visited this place. The service was not warm or friendly. Well let me rephrase that. It was not friendly or warm towards us. Our server felt she could carry on conversations with other patrons. We arrived and waited several minutes before the server came to get our drinks. I asked for a large orange juice and was told that I can get an extra large cup and be charged for two smalls. I just asked for the small because I couldn't tell what size large she was referring to at the neighboring table. I ordered a waffle with fruit. Before I ordered I asked if it was fresh fruit, to which she responds yes we get our fruit from the grocery store. Then I asked for strawberries and bananas. Then the server explains that the strawberries are in sugar. I just asked for it on the side because I prefer "fresh" strawberries. I also asked for one egg with sausage because they have a combo for it. I asked if they had sausage patties or links and she said they had both that they get their sausage from Nahunta. When my food comes out, I asked for the toast that I thought came with my combo and the server proceeds to tel me you didn't ask for it, would you like white or wheat ? With a confused look, I said white. I never got my toast. The egg was good, but it was just an egg over medium. The sausage was dry. The waffle was good. I just used the sugared not fresh strawberries as my syrup with the bananas. My husband are all his food and said if it wasn't for the service we would have come back. He had corn beef hash with a western omelette, hash browns and a bagel. After the sever brought out our food she never came back until it was time to leave. I thought this would be a nice change from IHOP or Waffle House. But we get better service at those places. The only good thing about this place was that it had A rating. It's not inviting or warming to go and eat there. I didn't even take a pic of our food, just of the menu.

This weekend I visited the great state of North Carolina with my family. My big sister a native North Carolinian suggested this family mom and pop breakfast spot, it was awesome a local dive...high on ambience, southern drawls, and good country food. The prices were cheap (I'm a New Yorker breakfast for one under ten dollars that include bacon I'm all in...sign me up). The waffles with fresh strawberries were freshly made on the griddle. You can smell a hint of bacon in the air when you pull up in the parking lot. The wait time was dicey but the hospitality was deep fried southern and as sweet as molasses, definitely worth the wait. Did I mention they serve bacon? Four stars because parking was horrendous. The parking is heavy on weekends. Go early the local weekend crowd makes this place impossible to frequent after twelve noon.

They have always been one of our favorite places to go for breakfast. This all changed today. They were not enforcing the rule for customers to wear a mask while entering, around or out of the restaurant. Also our waitress was wearing her mask around her chin. A customer who was not wearing a mask, decided to go back in the kitchen to talk with some of the staff. People will say then just don't go and that is exactly what we will do.

Delicious breakfast - don't expect fancy decorations. We had a large group and everyones food came out hot and delicious. It was really loud inside because there were so many people and floor is concrete. Waitress was really good. Price was very reasonable.
