The Lake House Waterside Cafe

I was staying at a nearby hotel for work and got tired of the expensive restaurants. This area is a market desert and I'm glad I found this cafe! The food is delicious and greatly priced!

2.5 stars for the food, 5 stars for the view/ambiance. The cafe is located in an amazing spot and sitting out on the patio near the water is priceless. This is a perfect date spot!I ordered the chips trio with salsa, guacamole, and queso to-go. I was surprised by how little of each I was given. The queso seemed like melted velveeta and the salsa didn't have too much flavor. The chips were the best part. They were warm and seemed to have been freshly made. I'd return only for the area and just buy something small and cheap so I could sit on their patio.

If you love that city life then you have to try this place. Right in the heart of downtown (in the middle of Discovery Green), this cute cafe offers light American fare for a very reasonable price. You would think that visiting downtown would cost a grip (it can depending on where you go), which is why this little eatery is truly a gem. Offering items like burgers, salads, tacos, and more, the cafe's menu items are all under $10. For lunch I decided to partake in their veggie burger, fries, and fruit cup. One word.....yummy! And what was even better was that the total was less than $12! If you have the time, make sure to take a second and either sit down in their indoor dining area to appreciate their beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows or head outside to the outdoor patio to enjoy those gorgeous downtown Houston views.

This place is disgusting. Filthy tables and floor. I just walked in asked for a cup of ice and they wanted to charge me $1 for ice. I have anxiety and putting ice on my wrists helps. It's not the money it's how the guy handled the situation. The manager is extremely unpleasant and unprofessional.How are they able to operate like this is beyond me.

Tried to get a water for me and my dog since we both drank all of our water. Wouldn't let me purchase anything because of my dog. They have a restaurant next to a dog park. I literally had cash and I didn't need any change just some water.

Wow. Awful food. Lobby is deceiving. Looks adorable. Better food in hospitals. They acted like the ketchup packets came out of their life savings. Like, I need it to stomach the food I just wasted almost $12 for

This is a pretty cool place but there was nothing spectacular about the food or the service. The cashier was pretty rude and it felt like he was ignoring us as we were giving him our order.The chili cheese fries were pretty good but the burger was cold. It tasted like the buns were taken straight from the package.The best part of this place is the location. There's so much going on around the restaurant that it's a cool place to hangout. There's an open lawn surrounded by food trucks on one side and a skating rink on the other.

The Lake House Waterside Cafe is a nice place to grab a quick (and cheap) bite while you are visiting The Discovery Green in downtown Houston. The small restaurant with its glass walls is a nice way to continue enjoying the park while eating an easy dinner, but you get what you pay for!Dinner at The Lake House won't cost much, but the food is not worth much. It's very reminiscent of concession stand bites. Staff was friendly but the food was a little slow to come out.I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and fries. The patty was very obviously frozen and not super flavorful but still more than edible. It was served with French fries which were fine, especially smothered in ketchup the way I eat them! Nothing special. Would I eat it again? Not likely. But, if I am ever at the Discovery Green again and hungry enough, I'd try something else at The Lake House.Note: There is limited seating inside, but you could always take your eats to go and sit somewhere in the park for a picnic!

This was an average experience, but I had no serious issues here. The food is certainly nothing fancy but it is affordable and fairly quick! The service was middle ground. As for ambience, it's a great spot nestled in downtown Houston. However, they could absolutely double the amount of tables inside as there was plenty of room to do so, and it's simply too hot in Texas to sit outside. Overall I might come back in a pinch!

Customer service is a no for me in this place Came here today to buy and while other family members were going to the restroom while I was in line this guy was so rude saying what happened to them and telling them to use the restroom outside I totally understand is for customers only but we were customers. I told this guy we were buying but needed the restroom after that when I get to the cashier he was still in his rude mood and so was I I asked for my receive and in a disrespectful and impulsive way gave it out to me so I don't think that's a behavior servers should act since it was a misunderstanding.
