The Hunan

Not some place I'd come for a date, or really with anyone except my fellow buddies who don't give a damn. You can't easily find edible lunch specials for under $8 in this economy anymore, so I have to give The Hunan a 4 star.

Update to my Update: I got food poisoning from my meal here! Below is the original update before I even got sick (wrote it while eating).It's been a while but I wanted something quick and cheap. Ordered the Three Delight of Kung Pao. The beef was so fatty I couldn't even eat it. It was really bad. The chicken and shrimp were at least actual meat. The flavor also wasn't great and the fried rice was pretty sad. I was really disappointed by every part of my meal.Unfortunately, I won't be back.

great portions for the price-- I got the general Tso chicken with a soup and chicken wings for only eight dollars. really hits the spot late at night. Convenient and cheap, would definitely get again! Go support local! the sweet and sour soup that came with it had a very interesting flavor with a spicy kick.

No glitz or glamour or friendly greeting. This place just cranks out Amazing food!! :)Everything tasted good!Recommend the crab puffs, fried dumplings, Sweet & sour chicken: so crunchy and fresh. Good quality product. Looks delicious. Packaged thoughtfully. Clean establishment. The soups and the chicken wings were also good. This place is busy due to there hard good work and great prices!

My go-to cheap lunch spot! I've been ordering for the last two years and recently have came back to eating here. Not a fancy spot but for $8 combo meal it has unbeatable quality and taste. The staff is always courteous and kind, if you get delivery they get it to you in pretty good time and offer nice conversation. Cant say enough good things about the fried rice, steamed dumplings and sesame chicken here!

I took a chance and ordered from a new place today due to the horrible weather here in Houston. I went with a dish that I often order from other Chinese places. I ordered their Moo Gai Pan, and I must say it was pretty good. It had plenty of chicken and veggies. The veggies weren't overcooked either. The white sauce they use is flavorful. The fried rice was a little clumpy, but it was delicious and had a great flavor. I used the online service and had no issues. It was very user-friendly to order from their website. The driver was friendly and kind enough to call me when he was en route and verify the address since he had never delivered to our place of business before. It didn't take him very long for the order to be delivered either. I was quite happy with my order. There is a $15 min for delivery, so I can't wait to have the rest of my order for dinner. I will be ordering from them again in the future.

I ordered the chicken lo mein, pork lo mein and egg drop soup and all were very tasty! It's also a great value for the price.

Service at Register good. Building and seating small. Building a bit old. Shared parking. Good lunch prices for Combo. Mom and Pop. Mixed customers. Running a bit behind today. A longer wait than I expected. Blame being placed on only having 2 people working. Ft and Kitchen. Soup and Appetizer was offered with the main meal.

Great food! You get a large quantity and the delivery is fast and accommodating! Would order there again! It was near our District 28 apt.

This restaurant was once a gem. The prices were cheap, but the food was fresh and good. It had been a long time since I had eaten there, and I wanted to get some Chinese food on my way home. I went today 8/31/23 and I am so angry that I wasted so much money on what I believe to be the worst Chinese food and any other type of food I have ever tasted. I should have known when I saw exposed food sitting out near a trash can., that this was no longer the place to eat at. The food could be easily contaminated. I order the General Tso Chicken which was so chewy and stringy that I wasn't sure if it was actually chicken and it was not hot nor spicy. I also got the shrimp rolls and I did not taste any shrimp in them. And finally, I bought the special fried rice, I am not sure if they added chicken or tofu, because it had no taste. Everything was just awful, even the sweet and sour sauce was tasteless. I called to complain and was told the food is cooked upon order. I believe they are either cooking or recooking old cheap food. This place has really gone downhill. This was an expensive lesson to learn. And the service is not much better. I will never go back, nor would I ever recommend this place to anyone who likes good fresh food.
