The Fish

The first sushi restaurant I visited after moving to Houston! I love the crab fried rice here.I rarely eat in but takeout is always ready within 15 minutes! It's quaint with a small dining room and bar at the entrance. Good happy hour / lunch deals!

living next door we always had good service and drinks. today our usual Martini (top shelf) went up $4 a serving. No more liquor or great service. Linda was the best. these kids now have no idea what service and quality is. I give this place an "F" for the lame explanation as to wby the cocktails went up $4. I don't mind paying for quality and great service, this was neither. The drinks weren't even shaken! My friends and I won't be going back for overpriced drinks and indefferent service. good luck keeping your loyal clientele , you'll definitely need itDavid Delaunay

I went on a Friday night, restaurant was popping but service was just OK. Service was kinda confusing regarding if we had a primary waiter or not, but other staff made sure water was filled & food came out timely. Food was bomb! Got the Black Widow and the Fish (both pictured). Both had good flavors, Black Widow had a god crunch and seemed like your standard roll. The Fish had more of a combo of flavors with the strawberry and candied jalapeño that added a little kick to each bite. We also got drinks (old fashioned & a spicy mango cocktail) which were both yummy. They had a nice full bar so lots of drink options.All in all, great place to pop in for a quick bite & drink that won't disappoint you

This dish was okay. I wish I had seen a photo of it before I ordered, but I scrolled for quite a while and did not see one. The chicken was seasoned well and friend with a crispy coating. I wish they offered brown rice instead of only steamed white rice. I also feel like the quality/healthiness of the veggies was dimisnished by being fried in the tempura. I thought this was a saucy dish. I was in between ordering this and the curry and probably should have went with the curry.

I had lunch with a colleague this week at The Fish and really enjoyed it! I looked for sushi specials near downtown, found way more than I bargained for, and somehow narrowed down to come here. The drive was short, I found some cheap metered parking across the street, and always enjoy the vibe of this part of town- streets were clean, more trees than downtown, and overall seems less hectic.Anyways, the menu was super extensive, I settled pretty quickly on the sashimi special which was fantastic with nice thick cuts of chef's choice fish. I also got the midtown specialty roll which was just absolutely exquisite. I mean the bite was a bit tall so I had to lay down the fried (lotus?) but it was just such a delight of flavors and textures!The preceding house salad was a nice appetizer, definitely tasty, the choice of cheese (Parmesan I think) was surprising but complemented it well.Overall I really enjoyed the lunch, would have been a reasonable price if I stuck to just the lunch special, but that midtown roll was truly delightful and honestly quite filling even by itself. The waiter was great, he was prompt, provided great suggestions, granted the restaurant wasn't terribly busy when we went but I still felt he had a great balance of tending to our needs and leaving us aloneI would definitely come back again for lunch, but I don't know that I'd make the drive all the way for this meal from my part of town (granted it isn't super close!)

Came just in time for REVERSE HAPPY HOUR on Thursday. My food was divine, drinks spot on, and there was a DJ!!!!My server was super attentive and management checked on us throughout our visit. Every sushi roll I had was fresh and exploded in flavor. I ate far past the point of being full

Service was fantastic. Thanks Andrew and staff. It was one of those perfect service experiences you hope for at a restaurant - no hovering but someone was always right there when we needed something. We ordered off both the Happy hour menu and the regular menu. Asked our waiter Andrew for recs and he said the Midtown was the best and he was totally right! We are sushi snobs and it was one of the best rolls I have ever had. Beautiful and delicious. The spicy edamame were so good but they were very spicy so if you don't like spice (we do) get the regular. Also the Brussels sprouts were amazing!!! Crème Brule was good - with crusted top, cold type (room temp) and soo good. Also the inside has so many great seating options. We loved the booth - but there were also bar seats with great multiple TVs (game was on), big tables for bigger parties and nice large outdoor area. Oh and we always gauge our sushi favorites on the miso. The Fish had great miso! We had multiple servings. We will def be back. Huge thanks to our server Andrew!

Came by for reverse happy hour all day on Sunday. Ordered the lychee martini, spicy edamame (off regular menu), tiger eye, and 1/2 m&m roll. The martini was very strong, loved the lychee flavor. The spicy edamame was amazing, loved the garlic in it. The rolls were good, but a bit dry.

Some of the best sushi and miso soup I've had in Houston. Went during happy hour and got the black widow, pork gyoza and salmon sushi. Everything tasted amazing. Service was fine for the most part. And the decor is pretty nice. Definitely would go back.

Me and my family got to Houston from Las Vegas on a stormy evening. The Fish was close to our motel and was open late so we decided to give it a try and got a pleasant surprise. Service, food quality and atmosphere are all 10/10. We ordered Midtown Roll, Shrimp Udon noodle, Dynamite Shrimp and Lycheetini. Shrimp was very fresh with subtle flavors. Sushi was the right size with not much rice. For desert we had cheesecake and crème brûlée and they were amazing. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for sushi or international food.
