This restaurant was everything you'd want in for a southern meal. The staff were so friendly and kind, we even talked to the chef's grandma. The food was delicious! At our table we tried chicken and dumplings, smothered chicken wings, oysters, and catfish along with collards, black eyed peas, fried okra, and brussel sprouts. It tasted like my grandmother's dinners! Great place

Great food guys!! If you ever craving seafood, this is the spot. Amazing sides as well. Definitely coming back when I'm in town.

This is black-owned and mouth-watering goodness. Food is always hot and crispy. They even season it. Ya'll know err'body doesnt season food. They may cook it well, but not season it well. No worries! They're both afraid of seasoning here!

My mom and daughter were in town for a wedding and I treated them to dinner at this restaurant. My mom is one of the best soul food cooks I know and she thought that the food was amazing! And it was. The service was great and the restaurant was clean. I'll be returning soon.

Amazing fish and the portions are huge, way better than skippers!! Services is fast and on time.

This is a (mostly) fried fish place, so if that is your thing, you will like it. I had the fried catfish, coleslaw and potato salad. All very acceptable. The restaurant is clean, but there are not many tables. You feel a little stuck between cafe and cafeteria. One knock I will give. I asked the person at the counter "how are the collards?" I got a momentary blank stare followed by "people eat them." Maybe a little training is in order? It seems like a place that has lots of regulars. Several customers called by name. I don't think I would go again, but it was fine for what it was.

I arrived right at opening time. The dining room was clean and well-lit. I purchased the flounder and shrimp entree. The Flounder is very good. Seasoned just right and palatable for the location (Apex). Not overly and under seasoned. Mac and cheese are good - flavorful, creamy, and cheesy. Hush puppies could be better. The texture wasn't my liking. The collards were perfect. The collards were seasoned with pork, and it's very hard to mess up anything with pork. Overall, good food and great customer service.

This review is based on a takeout order. I live about 20 minutes from the restaurant. I got the catfish plate with fries and slaw. By the time I got home fish was tough. May try again and eat there. Not sure..

The bang bang shrimp was the best I've ever had and I loved the Mac and cheese as well. I'm not usually a fan of hushpuppies but I enjoyed these too!The woman who served us tolerated my father's barrage of questions with grace and humor and helped recommend her favorites.
