The cutest pub outside of England! My only regret dining at The Dandelion is that I didn't do so sooner! We were visiting Philadelphia and wanted to grab dinner somewhere close to our hotel on our last night. Based on our guidebook, The Dandelion wasn't really at the top of our list, but it was walkable, so we went for it. And how glad I am that we did.First, everything and I do mean EVERYTHING on their menu sounded incredible. Plenty of standard pub fare (e.g., shepherds pie, fish and chips, etc.), but everything was described so delectably and based on how our dishes tasted--accurately! Normally there's an ingredient or two that frightens my kiddos, but not so here.We started with the liver parfait. Delicious, well executed, and huge portion. For our mains, our table ordered fish and chips, tandoori chicken, shepherd's pie, and rabbit pie. Every plate: cleaned. The ambiance is super charming. The interior pays homage to Philadelphia's storied past, looking extremely British/colonial inside. There is an upstairs bar you must check out if seated downstairs, and every room is a little different, but authentic feeling. It is a little "snug" inside, which means I wouldn't really choose this place for an intimate dinner. It also means the volume is a little elevated as well. For us, this was not a problem. There is no shortage of delicious food in Philadelphia, but I assure you this place is at the top. If you're a sucker for pretending like you've been magically transported to another time and place, this restaurant needs to be on your list.

3.5 - expensive food, but it's in rittenhouse and you're kind of paying for that british cosplay energy for some reason. i will say, the vibe on the inside is perfect for talking for hours. something abt that dark lighting, the sound level, idk it's like prime time to dish with your friends. really not a place for food LOL??came as 2 people on a monday night, got burgers, no wait. $28 pp after tax and tip (no drinks, just the burger...)

My wife and were trying to figure out a good place to eat on our last night in Philadelphia. As I was looking on my iPhone maps, I noticed a place called The Dandelion. It was only a few blocks from where we were staying (central Philadelphia, by city hall). The menu looked good to we made a quick reservation and headed overWhat a cozy English style pub. We had to hike up a couple of flights of stairs to the dining room/2nd pub room. You really felt like you were in an old English pub. My wife ordered the steak and chips. They were able to accommodate some dietary restrictions for her which was great. I had the Lamb Shepherds Pie. Our server who was great by the way, brought out a basket of the best bread and butter I've had in a long time. All we can both say, is our meals were excellent. A nice, positive way to end our trip in the "city of brotherly love". I'm giving it 5 stars even though the Guinness beer I ordered was from a can and not on draft. Hopefully that will be fixed. When we come back this will be the first place we come to for dinner.

Quaint British pub style setting with many different rooms inside. Has a bar area and many cozier lounges. Lunch menu was alright, skate sandwich was tasty enough. Salad fresh with good mix ins. Drinks good as well. Would really like to try the afternoon tea as I've heard that's wonderful. Thanks

Such a gem of a place. There was a little wait as we didn't have a reservation but that was okay. We had the steak and chips dinner and it was delicious. Ambiance was great and everyone looked like they were having a great time.

Real cool place! Decor is awesome! Need to check it out! Great menu! Very eclectic. Haven't had Tartare in a long time and I'm so glad I decided to to pick that one! Great Dish! My taste buds were popping with all kinds of flavors. Loved the hint of brine from the cornichons and the shallot vinaigrette. But the star was the tartare!

Came here with some coworkers for lunch. Was unimpressed by the food for the price paid. I've had better fish and chips in a lot of places. I wasn't expecting a single over size piece of fish that I couldn't easily dunk into my Tartar sauce. The fries were meh. Not crunchy at all. More like potato wedges. Not worth $27. The deviled eggs were good, but not worth $10 for 4 eggs. The sour dough and butter was yummy. That was probably the only thing on our table that was worth the price. I don't see what people find so attractive about this place. It does give an old time feel and perhaps too much so. The carpets were very grungy And dirty. Some tables had mismatching chairs that looked rather beat up. Overall, I'd say that this is place isn't worth the price. Portion sizes are pathetic and food doesn't exceed expectations. Don't waste your money here

We had reservations for thirteen. We got there early and we were immediately seated on the top floor that had tables ready for us.I must say that I loved everything about the building that was built in the 1800's (according to the waiter). It was narrow with lots of stairs but it sure had incredible character! The food was absolutely delicious! We had deviled eggs (with a light hint of curry), & baked ricotta with toasted bread as our appetizers. My main entree was the tandoori chicken which was amazing! Loved the yogurt sauce and the chicken itself was perfectly cooked. As if this wasn't enough, we were presented with an array of petite desserts: dark chocolate pudding cake, apple crumble and sticky toffee pudding. The chocolate was nice and very rich.Service was quick and friendly. I'd seriously return for their Tandoori Chicken. It was that good.

I've been to the Dandelion several times these last few years, but this time was for a friend's baby shower. The Dandelion staff were wonderful and helped us set everything up on the second floor. The menu was set for a party (14 of us), so the full range of lunch options weren't available, but the set menu was just as good as anything I'd eaten there before. Even my scones were served warm and fresh from the oven.I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich, but had to substitute the raisin walnut bread with the only other available option, sourdough, as I'm allergic the walnuts. Our server was very understanding and attentive as I wasn't the only one with allergies or food limitations. One of our guests was also vegan, so a separate list of options was also prepared. The mango sorbet was a fantastic alternative to the mini tarts and cakes. And that chocolate pudding cake had the consistency of mini chocolate lava cakes. Very cute and delectable!Once again, another wonderful dining experience here at the Dandelion. The accommodations were comfortable! Thank you for hosting us.

I loved the whole vibe from this place! From the moment you open the wooden door to the gorgeous staircase and tables inside, it really does fit the theme to an amazing amount. We got "A Royal Occasion" tea tier, and I can say the presentation was amazing! I loved the cups and the tea was an amazing taste. The food though... wasn't so great. Yes, out of all three tiers there were some good picks! But after one sandwich and two pastries... everything seemed to be growing more and more distasteful. I don't know if it's just me, but the food here was the most unpleasant compared to the presentation.
