Hands down the best Mac and Cheese in Camberville! Even Blue Ribbon BBQ in Arlington comes in second for me, as they use Velveeta, and I'm not a fan of that. And of course the centerpiece of many meals here, the fried chicken, is also the best. Other cult faves in New Southern fare like Highland Kitchen, while they have good fried chicken... they don't have *amazing* fried chicken probably due to a crowded menu. Coast Cafe keeps the main thing the main thing, and it shows! If you watch their IG videos, you can see them hand-breading and frying their chicken and fish, carefully placing the delicate pieces in the frying basket, never throwing in a huge batch and hoping for the best. The time and care taken in cooking come through in the perfectly crispy texture of the skin and succulent, tender meat. All the sides they offer are outstanding, so Coast Cafe really shines when it's time for a special family dinner-- that way, you can have a little bit of everything. The candied yams are slightly sweet for my taste, but no matter, I just eat them for dessert. Truly I've never had a bad meal here.While there are only a couple of tables in the small, cozy shop, this food is really designed to be eaten at home with loved ones. Coast Cafe has slightly less traditional operating hours. But that's understandable when you know how all-consuming it is to own and operate a restaurant. Plan ahead to ensure they'll be open when you arrive, and you'll be glad you did! The true icing on the cake for me is that Coast Cafe is a Black-owned family business that's been here in the historically Black neighborhood of Riverside for 20 years. It's easy to eat local when great food and good neighbors are just down the street!

you can find a more detailed review of the coast cafe here: https://simmerwithsally.substack.com/p/restaurant-review-8-the-coast-cafethe coast cafe has some of the best southern food i have had in boston, without a DOUBT. my go-to order has me in tears every single time - shoutout to the fried wing combo plate! their sides are also smackin' - their candied yams and mac n cheese comes up pretty frequently in my food dreams. i'd say value especially for price is here also, and agree with other reviewers that it's easy to get 2 meals out of a combo plate especially. the only things i wish for that have knocked off a star is that i wish they were open for lunch hours on some days of operation, and their physical location was a little bigger so that more folks could eat the food when it's ready vs takeout - though there is something charming about the coast cafe being so takeout focused. basically, i just want more opportunities to eat this incredible food. this is a can't miss if the stars align for you to check it out!

This small restaurant is about a 12 minute walk away from the Red Line. Inside, many accolades are on the walls from over the years. My boyfriend and I ordered at the counter for takeout because there were only 2 small tables inside the restaurants. The food really is from scratch - it took about 20 minutes for our order to be ready. Also, I noticed that people ordered on their website and then came by to pick up the food. The wait was worth it! I got the pork ribs with mac n cheese and the rice and beans with gravy. My meat fell out the bone. It was so soft and doused in sauce which is my preferred way of eating these ribs. The mac n cheese had a cheese pull. It was delicious and not too heavy as a side. The rice and beans with gravy was amazing as well! I highly recommend this side.My boyfriend got the fried chicken thighs with mac n cheese as well with candied yams. We can see the spices coated evenly on the outside. The pieces were big and very juicy inside. The candied yams were different from what I am used to: it seemed to be gingery! Good southern fried catfish! Eating in is a sweet experience, small and cozy.. delivery was just as good. Will be my go to for nights I'm craving my grandmothers style of cooking!

The fried chicken were bland but the sides were exceptional. The mac and cheese was ooozing with cheese and the collard green was great. The corn bread, yams and fried cat fish were slappin as well.7/10

The Coast Cafe is one of the better soul food restaurants around, and I think my very southern family would approve. I placed a pickup order with mixed chicken, candied yams, and Mac & cheese. When I stepped into The Coast, it reminded me of small, local restaurants in the Greenwood district of Tulsa, where the place may not look like much but the food slaps. By the time I arrived, my order was ready. Quick summary: The chicken was well-seasoned, although it could have been a touch juicier. The candied yams were everything they needed to be, and the mac & cheese was solid. This all easily made two meals for me, and the price point was very competitive for the area. Next time, I'll have to try the beef patties and chicken patties to see what they're about.

Everything about this place is a winner including the artwork on the building, the small town vibe of the cafe, the staff, the vibe and the friggin' food which is A+.No joke, this is the best fried chicken I've ever had. BEST MAC AND CHEESE!!! got mac and cheese and wings to go today! sooo good!!!! Praise God for coast cafe!! food with soul :) there were no leftovers! even a 2-yr old enjoys this chicken.

Best cornbread muffin I've ever had and the chicken was SO crispy and flavorful. FRIED CHICKEN: Deliciously fried and packed with so much flavor and juice. Even the chicken breast is tender and not dry at all. Eat immediately! SIDES: Mac 'n Cheese, candied yams, collard greens, cornbread muffin were all delicious! I cannot recommend them enough. The cornbread muffin was probably the best I've had - moist and not dry. I've ordered previously through Ubereats before and waited for 2 hours - still worth it.

I ordered from the Coast Cafe this week. Perhaps I ordered the wrong things. I did not enjoy my meal. Tossed most of it. Everyone I asked about the place had nothing but good things to say. Perhaps it is just me.
