We got here at 8pm on a Wednesday (first Wednesday of September) and it was packed. We waited for a table to open up and after about 30 minutes we were seated! I didn't know they had live Irish music every day which was going strong when we walked in. It was very loud so we weren't able to hold a conversation when they were playing, but that was ok. We were able to order a late dinner which we were happy about since the kitchen closes at 9. We both ordered the Irish Trio and we were so glad we did. It included small portions of the beef stew, bangers and mash and shepherds pie! It was all so good!

Just reviewing the Guinness here: A very average American pint of Guinness. Lots of bubbles in the head and it was barely better than a can of Guinness you can buy for $2-3. For $10 and all the rave The Black Rose got, I wish it was better! Servers, overall bar vibes, and clam chowder were good though, no complaints there.

Great food. Family and I came here after a long day of traveling. Was seated immediately which was awesome. Server came by and took our order and continued to have great service throughout. Food was out of this world. My other half and I both ordered the fish and chips and our daughter ordered the chicken tender basket. We all enjoyed our dinner and servings. Great portions. More than any of us could eat. Cold drinks and they kept them full. The decor was definitely an Irish flair that was so unique. Beautiful and very relaxed and charming. Worth going if you're in downtown Boston. Thanks for a great evening.

When in Boston, it is necessary to visit an Irish Pub. The Black Rose was a true Boston experience. Located near the Aquarium, it had a lively atmosphere without being so noisy it wasn't enjoyable. While they didn't have live music when I visited, they did fawn have live Irish music. I came in a busy Sunday so I had to wait a a bit to be served but the server was friendly and checked on me frequently without being overbearing. I had the Irish stew and, to be honest, when it first arrived I was a little disappointed in the size of the serving. But it turned out to be the perfect size. Thick and meaty and served with two soft pieces of garlic bread, the stew was glorious. It had big chunks of beef, nice size potatoes and carports with a thick broth. I ended up so full I didn't have room for dessert. But I will definitely return when I can.

We tried to go to Mr. Dooley's but it was too loud and had no tables available so we ended up here. I'm glad we did because we really enjoyed it. We sat outside and really enjoyed the cool weather. My husband and I spilt the clam chowder and Irish sampler. Everything was so good and flavorful, the only thing was the temperature of the sampler wasn't very hot. Our waitress was kind but didn't check in very often.

One of the the best Guinness pints in all of Boston. They always have a live band playing authentic Irish songs. Can get crowded on weekends but worth it. Always fun to stop in for the fun vibes and nice people

We stopped in for lunch during our visit to Boston. Great menu featuring traditional Irish favorites and plenty of other delicious choices. The Irish beer on tap was refreshing. We had a wonderful server who was super friendly and so attentive. We all enjoyed our sandwiches (turkey club, French dip, and turkey with slaw on rye) with a side of fries. The atmosphere is so relaxing with an old world decor and touches of history. I would definitely recommend stopping in for a drink or a bite to eat.

We were excited to find this place so close to our hotel! We love a good Irish pub and this one did not disappoint. Our server was working so hard in a room full of people. She made sure to come by several times to check on us. My husband said the fish and chips were amazing and my son sang praises about the kids chicken tenders and fries. Our daughters favorite has to be the pretzel. Our only "complaint" .... I hate to call it that but... we went on a night with live music and listen we loved the music playing but it was so loud! We couldn't even hold a conversation and the music felt overpowering. Honestly though... we'd still go back for more!

Such a fun Irish pub in downtown Boston. We came here to get a drink and watch the live music. They do a cover late night but it was worth it for the Irish music. Lots of tables and seating or just space to stand later in the night. We didn't get any food but it looked like good, traditional Irish food. Overall I would stop here when I'm in Boston for the music and vibe!

Immediately knew this was going to be a fun place when the bouncers were kind and joked around with our kiddo as checking id's. The live music was top notch but a tad loud sitting at a table right in front of them while the TVs were also blaring because of the NBA playoffs. Definitely your "average" bumping Irish pub. I would argue that the quality of service was better than the average Irish pub and everyone was willing to help. The shepherds pie was SO good. Buttery, with an ALMOST stew like texture but seasoning was absolute perfection. It could have used a bit more cheese and the toast that came with it was only okay. Would go back again just for a pint next time we are in Boston. P.s. the black and tan was PERFECTLY poured.
