The Big Sombrero

Festive atmosphere. Large floor space is very large. Quick service. Food arrived very hot. Everything was well flavored and nicely presented.

The food and margaritas were worth the talk on the ride home. They were attentive and checked on us regularly. Food was served in a timely manner. Restaurant was clean and large for big parties and or celebrations.

We've lived in the area for 6 years now. Big Sombrero has been out go-to for several years now. The food is consistent, the service is always great & the drinks are delicious. A mango margarita with Tajin on the rim & an enchilada plate is my favorite meal!

Great experience!Was recommended to come here for margaritas which was very good. They do have a good happy hour every day but we weren't able to make it before 6. I had the frozen jumbo margarita which was a very respectable size. The service was great and the waiters kept bringing out chips and salsa whenever the bowl got almost-empty. I got the Seniorita and thought my food was decent but I would get a different dish next time. The tex mex tacos and enchiladas looked good! Portions were large and prices compared to houston were very fair.

When the fire alarm goes off at your resort hotel and you have to walk down 14 flights of stairs, you do what any same person would do: grab your car keys and go find a nearby restaurant to wait out whatever happens.With that luck in our favor, we Yelped for a local lunch spot and came across The Big Sombrero. "That sounds like fun," hubby said, and so here we are. Happy hour every day, and thankfully we're here at the right time. A jumbo house marg for me and a beer for hubby. Chunky guacamole - it has all the good stuff: onions tomatoes jalapeño cilantro lime. So good we're actually ordering a second round of it (yeah yeah, I know, quac is #extra, but OMG, it's so good) and the chips are super thick and able to stand up to the chunky quac. So good y'all, so good. Hotter salsa (had to ask for it) but it is DELICIOUS- going with the theme of the day, it burns burns burns, the ring of fire! ;-) And the chips are warm, too. Y'all this place is SO GOOD!Hubby's having spicy dirty tacos, I'm going for Chicken Blanco. Food hasn't arrived yet and we're already talking about coming back up to this place. It's only about 45 min from home, but we've traveled farther for good steaks (looking at you, 1836 in Huntsville) so we're not against making the drive for great food. Ok. Food. I gotta say it y'all: HOW IS THIS PLACE NOT ALL FIVE STARS?!? Fresh, hot, incredibly tasty... I don't have enough adjectives to describe how happy my mouth and tummy are right now. The chicken blanco, with double beans, is a savory flood of flavors. The zucchini, which so often is over cooked to mush, is deliciously crunchy and partners amazingly with the white queso (that is so hot, it's nearly straight liquid). It comes with tortillas, and makes an amazing toco, but it's not even necessary. Straight from plate to fork to mouth and you are in for a treat. Hubs has vacuumed up his tacos. We both are miserably full and absolutely delighted with this meal! Again, I say, HOW IS THIS PLACE NOT FIVE STARS?!?Come here. Enjoy the food. You will NOT regret it.

Great Mexican food, margaritas, and service. Can accommodate large parties and families with children. Love the fun colorful atmosphere. I had the carne asada, husband had enchiladas and our son had a steak and cheese quesadilla. Would recommend any of those.

Our parents favorite Mexican place. Incredible service. Very friendly & fast. Great margaritas. Parents usually get the tacos and this visit they say they fell short. Worst meal they have had there. I had beef taco plate on their recommendation and was disappointed. I liked the beans. Rice boring. Not enough tomato or cheese on tacos. Wish I'd been asked if I wanted sour cream, avocado, or guac. Very plain and bland. Felt they were lacking toppings for the price. They were filling I only could eat 2/3. Hubby ordered the tostadas and he said they were average. We wouldn't order either or even want to come back. Disappointing as we are from illinois snd this was our only Tex Mex during our visit to TX.

Food was delicious! Great service and atmosphere! Would recommend everyone to try this place.

Trying this place for the first time as we made the drive out to Conroe to go to a Lupe Tortilla that was non existent. The security was great and our server was funny. The ambiance was nice and was very very clean. Chips are a bit hard but I can overlook that as I'm picky with everything I eat. The salsa was good and the queso was delish. The margarita. Ahhhhh reminds me of Rancho Grande (Big Ranch) before they changed their recipe. The quesadillas are good as well and reminded me so much of rancho grande. If I had to do a blind gold taste test, I'd be in trouble. My husband had the fajitas for one and he said the same. Basically if you love Rancho as much as I do because the food is good and the prices are right, this place is for you. Enjoy!!

We shared an appetizer and the overpriced beef fajitas. The beef was so tough not one piece was edible. I wound up taking the beef home to my dogs. I would not recommend getting the small portion of beef fajitas. Their food is generally good, but I would never order the (over-priced small portion) of fajitas again. The margaritas were really good. The service was really good and tough beef was not the waitresses fault. I looked to the owner to make the correction on the tough cut of meat.
