This is definitely going to be my favorite breakfast spot, now that I am back in Greensboro! I hadn't been to Tex & Shirleys in a while, so hadn't realized that they had moved. It's a great location with plenty of parking! I'd come here for the coffee alone! It was the best "diner" coffee that I've ever had! It was so good I bought a bag of beans to take home with me, it was $16.Menu offering was standard breakfast fare, and all of it was good! One of my nieces had the pancakes, and I tried her leftover one, and even cold, it was good! Makes me want to know the recipe; this pancake was that good! I've been so disappointed recently with other restaurant or even home made pancakes that I've made, but this pancake was super yummy! I ordered the "Build your Own" omelette with home fries, but next time I would definitely go with the pancakes. We came relatively early, so we were able to get a table for six quickly. When we left, the restaurant was getting super crowded! Service wise, we had an amazing server, who kept bringing us hot coffee, and was patient with all our requests. I regret I didn't get her name, but she was stellar, and answered our questions patiently about the history of the restaurant. The entire bill for a party of six was super reasonable, so considering price, service, food, and location, you really can't beat it! This is why it's a 5 star for me!

Tex and Shirley's is a fantastic local spot for breakfast or brunch, whether you're a Greensboro local or just passing through. This long-standing gem is well-loved for its excellent food, service, and community roots. The menu features classic dishes with plenty of options for those with dietary restrictions, all of which are conveniently posted online. Despite often having long lines on weekends, the wait to be seated is typically under 10 minutes. The staff is both friendly and knowledgeable, offering helpful suggestions based on your preferences.Parking is ample, and the overall dining experience is top-notch. Portions are generous and reasonably priced, adding to the restaurant's charm. Tex and Shirley's strikes a comforting balance between a restaurant outing and the feel of a home-cooked meal. It's clean, welcoming, and definitely worth a visit.

My husband and I ventured to Tex & Shirley's for a brunch outing. Despite our rumbling tummies and the bustling atmosphere, our experience was memorable for several reasons. First, I must admit that I was so engulfed in the moment (and my hunger) that I completely forgot to snap photos of our meals--a true testament to the inviting nature of the dishes set before us.I indulged in the pancakes, fluffy, generously topped with whipped cream and fresh bananas--a perfect blend of sweetness and texture perfect for my palate. My husband opted for the breakfast combo, which gave us a bit of a puzzle to solve. The menu's combo options were somewhat cryptic, a fact our server candidly acknowledged. Our visit fell on a busy Saturday afternoon, with an expected wait time of 30-40 minutes. However, we found ourselves seated at the breakfast bar in a shorter timeframe than anticipated. While the service experienced a slight delay--attributed to a kitchen backlog, as our server informed us--the staff's transparency regarding the situation helped us manage our expectations and contributed to a relaxed dining atmosphere.Despite the service hiccup, the food itself was thoroughly enjoyable. The ambiance was unmistakably "Saturday loud," buzzing with the energy of weekend diners seeking a leisurely meal. Yet, this did not detract from our experience; it added to the charm of dining at Tex & Shirley's.While the menu could benefit from a bit more clarity and service speeds might be improved, the quality and taste of the food were exceptional. Our experience at Tex & Shirley's was satisfying. It's a brunch spot worth revisiting, even to remember to take those food pictures next time.

I remember the Tex and Shirley's when it was at Friendly's Shopping Center...the food was good and now...it is amazing! When we walked in the hostess was polite and gave us a 15-20 minute wait, first available. They take your phone number and you get an update text when your table is ready. I don't think we waited 5 minutes. We sat at the bar. I enjoyed that. You can get a great view of the restaurant. The place has a good vibe. I like the interior decor and I also like they have outdoor tables. Our waitress who was working behind the bar was busy. She was working! Watching her maneuver around the place was something to watch. She apologized for some of the wait in between her service, but you couldn't be annoyed because she was getting the job done! The freshly squeezed orange juice is delicious. The coffee is fresh. Every time I go out for breakfast I have the notion to try something new, but I always get the go to breakfast platter. The platter comes with a ton of food and it was soooooooo good. Eggs, 3 meats, grits or potatoes and toast or pancakes. The sausage had a great texture and fresh taste. The eggs were cooked just like I like them. The ham wasn't too salty...perfect! The bacon was delish. Ok...drum roll...my favorite thing I've had in a while...the cheesy grits! Perfection! Yum! My only complaint is that it didn't come in super large bowl lol It was apparent that my daughter loved her French toast because before I could finish putting butter on my toast, I looked over at her plate...gone. I had a puzzled look on my face because I thought it dropped or someone took her food. I asked her where is your food? Gone. I don't even think I got a good look at it. Whatever you put in those she loved it. The plate was clean. Not a crumb was left on her plate. This place is definitely being added to my heavy rotation. Yep, you should definitely go.

This quant little diner only had a 15-20 minute wait for 2 people on a busy Sunday morning. Everyone was pleasant from the hostess stand, to the server, to the patrons! Firstly, fresh squeezed orange juice from their juice squeezer machine, absolute yes, and I'm an apple juice girl. I ordered the Breakfast combo and 3 pancakes, don't judge! This breakfast was one of the best I've had in a long time. I do not know why I've lived in Greensboro this long and have never come here. The eggs were scrambled perfectly with cheese. The home fries were tender and well seasoned. The pancakes...well just look at them, every bit of fluffy and thick like a pancake should be. The espresso machine was down during my visit but that is just a happy excuse to come back. I loved every bit of my meal, and I am coming back, ABSOLUTELY!

Excellent little diner with remarkably efficient and friendly service. The waitress even accommodated our request for some coffee while we waited for our table to be ready. I ate the grits bowl. The food was well prepared, not greasy, and made of good quality ingredients. I appreciated the ample veggie options though they should offer a vegan option. The ambiance was family friendly. Would definitely go again.

I had Tex & Shirley's for the first time last month because our team hosted a morning breakfast at another local spot which happened to be closed on Tuesday! I am glad that it was because Tex & Shirley's was really great! I had strawberry dripped waffle, sausage & eggs. Our servers were very sweet and very attentive to our table! This place is definitely family friendly and worth getting out of bed to start your day with a wonderful and delicious home cooked breakfast! It's got a great diner experience and a place where everyone can feel welcomed and expect great quality food from great quality people

I have ordered eggs Benedict for decades every chance I get and these were better than I expected for the atmosphere. The flavor was great and they were vert hot (temp wise) which often I find at places the eggs are super warm but not piping hot. The negative was the 2 eggs were not poached the same. One was runny like I prefer mine, the other was hard cooked. Hubby had a western omelette (which he always orders wherever we go). He thought this one was exceptional. Tiffany our server was very attentive, which was nice. Previously we have had not great service here. Overall, a reliable spot for a good brunch.

A Saturday morning and it was 66 degrees and sunny. We sat outside since it was a beautiful morning. Once seated we ordered coffee which was great. Then we noticed that there were two large fans blowing down on us, and they were loud too. We moved once and it didnt' help as it was blowing our hair wildly. The food was OK; pecan pancakes. We ate pancakes since they opened at Friendly Center a million years ago. These were the size of a hamburger . Our waitress was Kyla and she was great. They have the same problem they always had, they need a good manager who oversees the operation like portions and crappy fans.
