Teotihuacan Mexican Cafe is a great place to stop for happy hour! The vibe feels very authentic with beautiful and brightly-colored Mexican decorations strung from the ceiling.Recently, a couple of my coworkers and I decided to go to Teo's to celebrate the end of a long work week. We ordered cocktails and margaritas, which were very tasty. The server, who spoke mostly Spanish, had a very difficult time taking my drink order even though the cocktail I ordered was on the restaurant's regular menu. She eventually got it, though, and when it came out it was very yummy! We ordered chips and queso for the table. Nothing to write home about, but it did the job. The entrees that my coworkers ordered were very good, though. They let me taste test everything! The beef fajitas for one was large enough for two people and cooked to perfection. The combination quesadillas were also super tasty! One downside to our experience was that the servers definitely pushed us out once we were done eating. After checking on us a few times, they took our water glasses away without asking, which was our cue to go.Overall, my experience at Teotihuacan was okay.

The drinks and food were delicious. The server clearly wanted to demonstrate his fast speed and was trying to be attentive to our needs, which is good because some of us knew what to order and some were undecided but... Unfortunately we ran into an issue. My friend clearly ordered the chicken rancheros. My friend doesn't like shrimp so it would be a surprise that she received a shrimp rancheros. The issue was when we brought it up to the server Samuel. He quickly said we were wrong and she had clearly ordered the shrimp. He continued to complain stating that he made sure of the order. We asked to make the order right. At the end of the night we did receive the chicken rancheros, but we also received the shrimp rancheros packaged up in a to go box...Really?! that's not right. That is a huge turn off. Very unfortunate because it could have been handled in a much better way.

I had a great experience at teotihiacan mexican cafe! The food was good, the service was good, and the vibe was amazing! I went here with a friend at dinner time on a Sunday. The parking lot was a bit small, but we managed to find a spot. The salsa and chips were amazing! Both the green and red salsas were delicious!! I got a teo margarita & la Paola. The food was pretty good. The refried beans were smooth and had a bit of a Smokey flavor. The chicken enchilada was yummy. The cheese enchilada was just ok. The two margarita was pretty good!!What really set this place apart was the vibe of the restaurant. There were painted cars in the parking lot, which was cool to look at. The interior felt super nice and homey. They had football on all the tvs. The music was great too.It was pretty busy too but the service was still fast. We got lots of water/chip refills. We even got special containers to take the salsa home!Overall, I'd definitely come back here. The vibe was amazing

While the parking lot was very crowded when we arrived to Teotuhuacan Mexican Cafe, there wasn't a wait to be seated which was nice. As the weather was beautiful and we were there for lunch, we asked to be seated outside and got a good table. I was surprised at how small the inside was considering how large it looks from the outside. We ordered drinks to start (micheladas and margaritas). You were able to pick the beer for the michelada and my friend selected Pacifico which she likes. I selected a house frozen Margarita and loved it as well. One thing to note with the margs is that they're a lot stronger than you would think (not complaining at all). For food, I ordered the La Chely but switched the green verde enchilada for a cheese enchilada. Everything on the plate was delicious and I'd absolutely order this again!

Really enjoyed authentic Tex-mex from Teo. Loved the red salsa and mango margarita to get the party started! They have an expansive menu, but I personally recommend ordering El Rey. It comes with beef and chicken fajita, grilled onions, bbq ribs, grilled shrimp, rice, beans, guacamole, pico de gallo and flour tortillas. Everything was excellent except for the rice which was bland. I especially loved the shrimp and beef. I wish it would have come with sour cream and queso. Service was friendly and this place feels pretty under the radar. Not fancy, just pure authentic flavors.

Teotihuacan is a bustling, lively, casual spot for texmex that is great for nearly all situations you might find yourself in - birthdays, drinks with some friends, families, whatever you want. The menu has something for everyone. We received kind and quick service from all the hosts and servers who waited on us. They were very attentive despite virtually every table around us being full - I was impressed and grateful for this. They were also very accommodating to our group. We were able to split our bill without a hitch! The food was yummy. My favorite part was that they didn't let your tortilla chips run dry, because that red salsa hits just perfectly. My husband and I split the numero dos for one. The chicken was not the best (a bit dry), but the beef was great. For some reason they keep the shells on the butterflied shrimp, which was not something we predicted before crunching down on the tail. Overall - nothing blew my mind, but for texmex, I was satisfied and very full!Despite ordering a platter "for one", it was just enough food to feed us both, since they are very generous with the portion sizes here. We want to come back with a group of 4 and split one of their large parradillas next time. P.S. Our birthday girl ordered a margarita and swears by them! P.P.S. Come hungry.

Why 4 stars? Because, like all of the others, this is a good choice for Tex-Mex. --- --- ---There are 4.8 million Tex-Mex restaurants in the Greater Houston area and 3.2 million of them are 4-stars: they provide enjoyable comfort food that's not going to change your life, but you certainly aren't going to regret it. Teotihuacan is one of the 3.2 million.I found it a few months ago on some "Best Tex-Mex in Houston" list, and have always been interested to try it since then. My wife is always down for Tex-Mex, so on a trip from the northside of town to the southside of town, we made a pit stop here. We did what we always do and ordered chips and queso as an appetizer, and then split beef & chicken fajitas for two. The great: the queso and the tortillas. Also, the time that it took our food to come out, which was shockingly quick. The good: everything else. The most interesting thing about the experience was parking in an overflow lot, which also happened to have a couple of houses in the parking lot. Literally there was a house that was in the parking lot. Parking space, parking space, parking space, 30 feet of pavement.... front door. So weird. And there were also a couple of houses across the street that looked like they had been through a couple of World Wars, but I guess that's the Heights for ya.

I'm sad to report that this is just another Tex-Mex restaurant that appears to be Mexican. Name and all. The service was slow and it wasn't that busy. The michelada tasted watered down. The engúllala sauce tasted like it was from a can but just a little worse. The salsa was ok. There's bars on the windows. So it doesn't seem like the safest place to go. I would not recommend this to my family and friends.

My friend took me here while I was visiting Houston. While you might get good Mexican food anywhere in TX, this the place is really the place to go to. The food was fresh and really delicious. You get a pretty good portion as well. They have so many different options. The service was quick and the staff was also friendly, answered questions about menu items. Really nice place to eat on a weekend. Pretty big spot but they get busy it seemed.

I have had lunch here a couple times. I had the build your own combo lunch. Today I had fajita taco and quesadilla with Charon beans. Both were great. Meat was tender and tortillas were homemade. The rice today was a little dry, but the beans made up for that. The service is outstanding and the wait time is short during lunch. Note: the red sauce with the chips is to die for. The red sauce is served warm, which makes it taste amazing.
