Taste of Mexico earns my utmost respect for staying true to authentic Mexican cuisine without diluting it into Tex-Mex. The abundance of guisado options is a delightful challenge, offering a variety of wet, tender, and spicy morsels that beg to be savored in multiple visits. What truly sets Taste of Mexico apart is its commitment to authenticity - no unnecessary embellishments like tomatoes, cheese, or lettuce in their tacos. Each option is a flavorful adventure, and the Al pastor presents a comforting departure from the typical hard beef found in other small eateries. The aguas frescas add a refreshing dimension to the meal, complementing the rich flavor. In my perspective, Taste of Mexico stands as the most authentic Mexican food spot close to me, and the comparison isn't even close. For a genuine taste of Mexico that stays true to tradition, this spot is a must visit.

Really good Mexican food. They also do Tex-Mex. The street tacos are only $1.75 but they do use the taco tortillas so order like 4-5. I also ordered a mini torta, street corn, and horchata. They have so many different types of meat and guisados. The mini torta was the perfect size for me because I can't finish a regular size torta. This is my new go to taco spot

I decided to try the restaurant after having tried their food at a birthday catering event. I was not disappointed. The food was full of flavor and reasonably priced. I will definitely be visiting again

It's difficult to find good authentic tacos that give you the feel foods outside of the loop that isn't in a RoachCoach that causes you to question how sanitary is even the water...Well.... Out here in the Houston NW suburbs, we have an Abuela that has opened a brick and mortar and you need to try it. We went there on a weekend late afternoon and were greeted by this simple shop with fun and easily understandable window writing. Seats were comfy, tables were nice and clean, truly just a simple clean shop, with UberEats and DoorDashers constantly in and out, and a little old lady sitting to the side joyfully wafting her tears from the spicy salsa on one of her tacos. The girls behind the counter seemed young, but were total business and family pride when we approached with vague faces that obviously needed guidance. They called us out very quick, "You haven't been here before?!."It wasn't to ridicule us, but more an exciting opportunity to indoctrinate us into the fold; told us about the process of putting an order together and explained every meat and filling item available. They busted out the little spoons and gave us the 31-Flavors experience- but Taco Style!!!We were swooning each and every sample spoon, as the girls behind the counter proudly giggled at us while also describing the exact experiences tastebuds were having...As we finally were able to narrow down what three tacos we each wanted (it was tough!), they continued chatting with us about how the shop is family owned and operated, and her Aunt is in the kitchen now, and this has been a dream thrust upon them from others for years prior to starting g a restaurant, Abuela's food has always been Just That Amazing!!!We found out though, our sampling wasn't finished...They have Fresh signature juices that will knock your socks off!!!My wife had the pineapple watermelon combo, while I did the Jamaica Hibiscus!!!YEAH!!!... You Read That Right!!! WORTH IT!We sat to the side and enjoyed our meals quietly for several minutes, just hurumphing and mmm'ing the entire time, almost forgetting to breathe...Then... my wife (who's not a big fan of beans) looked up at me after a half-spoonful of the charros..."Nick!!! Stop!!! You HAVE to try the Beans!!!"Her face has rarely been more serious. If you leave this post/review reading this far know that you have to visit this place and remember these truths:1- Get your sample on!2- Try their Juices!3- Don't You DARE go through the rest of your life and miss out on these Charro beans ever being a part of it; they are the most meaty-flavorful-succulent-tender-savory kiss of the gods from south of the border and worth going g there just for them!!!

This place is great! The service was friendly and helpful. I wanted to try to tofu-jitas, and of the vegetarian options. They let my husband sample a few of the meat items. They make all the vegetarian options when you order, but they offered to make me a sample-how nice, right?! I declined and ordered the tofu-jitas as a torta, and was not disappointed. My husband had a pastor torta, and carne guisada taco with cheese. He loved both. The only disappointment was the queso, it tasted like Rico's. I added some salsa and it was fine, but I probably wouldn't order it again. The atmosphere is casual, and would be good for groups. I will definitely be back!

My initial review of this restaurant was after 2 visits. I have since been here more than a dozen times as my family wanted them for take out. Each visit seemed to get worse. We always ordered the same menu items, the lack of consistency in the food quality and preparation was very disappointing. Our order every time was about 60 dollars, not chump change, a decent sized order. I say this because I would see the other customers orders, average about 15 to 30 dollars, while waiting for my food. Yet when entering the restaurant to place an order, we were greeted by the staff with what I would describe as annoyance and, OH, Them again, attitude. Not sure why. I don't want to think it was racial, but who knows. The wait for my order seemed to take longer with each visit. On my last visit my wife was with me, and observed the same thing. Our order took over an hour, while dozens of other customers had come after us and left before us, including people dining in. I treat everyone with dignity, respect, courtesy and compassion. I will not tolerate the same towards me, or anyone else for that matter. Needless to say, we won't be back.
