Tarantini Italian Restaurant

When we think of restaurants, of course we think of their food, and the atmosphere and the service, and there are so many fine dishes here, which can be seen in the reviews, and the service is close to excellent.But when I think of Tarantini I think of the Sisters who own it and feed us all with so much love, for many years now. They are always adding new things in the decor and always offering so many new and creative specials. I have fond memories of going there with my Mom (RIP) and my wife, and then the kids, and spent the biggest holidays of the Catholic faith there, and so they feel like family. I have celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, confirmations, etc. there. I went tonight and it was beautiful. Their portions seem so much larger (not that they were ever small), and flavorful.The wine pours are generous by the glass and they have great prices on Brunello di Montalcino!Tonight we had calamari, chicken Picatta, Eggplant and the espresso with the famous NY Cheesecake.Thank you Tarantini for being there and being always so loving and caring and consistent.

Tarantini offers a warm and inviting atmosphere from the moment you step in. My friends and I were greeted warmly and enjoyed attentive service from our friendly waitress, which enhanced our dining experience. The menu features a variety of Italian dishes, but the food did not live up to expectations. I ordered the mushroom ravioli with chicken, expecting a flavorful and satisfying dish. However, I was disappointed to find only four large ravioli pieces on my plate. The dish lacked depth of flavor, leaving much to be desired in terms of taste and satisfaction. The most disheartening part of the experience was the pricing. After tax + tip, my total for just the entree came to $40, which felt exorbitant given the portion size and the quality of the food. Tarantini offers a great ambiance and friendly service, but they fall short in food quality and value. I would consider other options if you're looking for a good Italian meal.

Unimpressed. The highlights were the bread (focaccia-like) with baked cheese and served with a little dish of olive oil, and a "Greek" salad (with Kalamata olives). The Prosecco was ok. Those were good, if overpriced.For the main course, I had the seafood special - shrimp & pasta with Parmesan cheese. I expected broiled / nicely cooked shrimp with shavings of parm, and pasta - maybe linguine, maybe some other pasta. I expected the pasta to have some flavor, and I expected the sauce to be tomato-y with some hints of flavor.However, the shrimp was heavily breaded and fried (the shrimp itself was lovely; much better when I moved the breading aside). The linguini was nothing special (compared with, say, the homemade pasta at Mother & Sons, or the dearly missed Boot in Durham); and the sauce had no flavor to speak of. There were large slabs of cheese on top of the breaded shrimp; it didn't taste like parm, and it looked much like the cheese atop my spouse's lasagna and my friend's chicken parm. I ate about half; spouse at the leftovers and said this dish wasn't as good as his.Spouse's lasagna was ok, he said; not a huge amount of flavor, but ok.The apple pie dessert was over-the-top -- a small piece of (square?) pie -- some apples, for sure, and a bit of crust under a huge dollop of vanilla ice cream. Lots of caramel sauce, and a little cookie.Our waiter was nice but service was slow. I'll give them a bit of a break, since it was Saturday night. Overall, disappointing.

Environment was lovely, food was great. I ordered bread before appetizers but they did not want to deliver it to the table until after we ordered. They claimed they wanted to kept their leather bound menus clean.. so odd Who doesn't expect bread at an italian restaurant?

My family was in town for the Holidays, and we decided to wrap up their visit with a special birthday dinner. We needed a place that wasn't too far from where they were staying or where we live, so we settled on Tarantini after a quick Google search.And let me tell you, it exceeded our expectations!Despite its unassuming exterior, stepping inside revealed a charming blend of farm-style warmth and sophisticated elegance. With our group of 9, they led us to a lovely room on the far right side, complete with a stunning raw edge dining table that easily accommodated all of us. The chairs, each in a different style, surprisingly complemented one another, adding to the cozy, neutral décor, along with a model chandelier that tied everything together. As a bonus, since we had two little ones with us (my kiddos), having our own room was a relief. What's more, this room even had its own bathroom! It was a thoughtful touch that showed how much they catered to their guests' comfort. The waiter was incredibly attentive, patient, and considerate of our needs throughout the evening.This dining experience ranked among the finest I've had in North Carolina. I was pleasantly surprised to find that their prices were quite reasonable, considering the quality. Admittedly, when dessert arrived, the portion sizes seemed more aligned with fine dining prices--small and around $14. However, this was exactly what I expected, so it wasn't a disappointment. Overall, Tarantini impressed us with delicious entrees, a great selection of desserts, and excellent wine choices. Needless to say, we'll definitely be returning here for many more memorable meals.

Wonderful service, comfortable chairs, plenty of space at the table in the area that we sat and we had a wonderful server. I enjoyed and appreciated the entire meal from start to finish. We had several appetizers that were delicious. The fried ravioli was crisp and flavorful, the bruschetta was overflowing with cheese and tomatoes, and the calamari was light and cooked nicely and all solid cut pieces. I tried one of the specials, eggplant rolatini served over spinach , this was delicious and flavorful filled with spinach and ricotta and topped with a nice serving of mozzarella that was toasted. Dinner was very filling and everyone in my party enjoyed their meal tonight.

Nice place for Italian comfort food. Fresh made pasta. My go to is the veal Parma. This restaurant is also very quiet. You can hear people sitting across from you. A rarity today.

We made reservations here for valentine's day. We were able to be seated a few minutes earlier than our reservation. The server was quick and very kind and helpful on this busy night. This was a very nice calm atmosphere, not too loud, dim lighting, very enjoyable for our date. To start, the calamari was amazing, the fried ravioli was also good. We loved the pollo rollatini. Everything was great. Good date night place!

I tried fo 30 minutes to see the dinner menu on their website. THE WEBSITE IS IMPOSSIBLE! It kept looping me back to the beginning where I would see pop-ups for making a reservation or order out or whatever--everything except what I was looking for which was a MENU to see what they offer. I guess we won't be going there! As for ambience, it looked nice in the pictures but that is the only information I gleaned from the website.

Our favorite Italian restaurant in the area. Everything is delicious from the fresh bread provided by the restaurant, to the burrata, to the excellent array of desserts. As a vegetarian, my go to favorites are the brushetta, the eggplant parm, and the chocolate mousse. Excellent service and a lovely quiet ambiance that is perfect for a date night or family gathering.
