Damn this place is highly recommended if you are looking for that delicious taste like grandmas cooking Mexican tacos stop here . The ambiance normal the service eh wack but no biggie you order at the counter, now the food the tacos are delicious that's first bite of ground beef style tacos was the best . I got one taco of each the mole one was different I wouldn't get that again but the rest delicious. If you are ever in the area definitely stop by it's a lil ugly inside but the tacos make up for it if you're picky about how places look . RECOMMENDED

I really enjoy this place, and is my preferred taco place in Houston. The tortillas are, in my opinion, the best in the neighborhood. And the workers are very nice when they take your order. This place gets really busy during peak hours and there's a reason for that. Not a fancy place by any means but I always see families fromthe east side here and the workers are invested in the latinx community and always interacting with their patrons. Affordable as well. Team green salsa here too.

Tacos! That's all you need to know. This hidden gem has the best tacos in an area with A LOT of competition. They have limited hours and limited parking, but the flavor of the food and the price of the food is worth any potential negatives you could find. It's not the nicest looking place but it gets job done! I normally get about 6 tacos for 10 dollars, and on Taco Tuesday the price is even cheaper. The staff mostly speaks only Spanish but they are nice and very patient if you don't know Spanish. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you whether you eat there or order to go. I order 2 beef fajita and 1 picadillo, and douse them in salsa verde when I get them. The tacos are full size, not street taco size.

Let me start by saying that I was in Houston recently and needed to order breakfast via door dash so my expectations were EXTREMELY LOW. Being from California, I dont know what I was expecting but I was NOT prepared for what I got.I ordered 3 types of breakfast tacos - Picadillo, steak fajita and chorizo con papa and eggs all in flour tortillas.HELLLLLLLA GOOOOOOOD!I would order again and again and again! It appears to be a hole in the wall kinda place but freaking amazing. So much flavor! They're very generous with the filling and the tortillas are home made. Next time I'm in Houston, I am definitely going back!Forgot to take pics because I was stuffing my face! Hahahaha.

I've been here three times this week and I can't control myself. I'm convinced that out of all the taco spots in the city that Monchys is numerous uno. It's crazy because in the front they running a tax shop, and in the back they running the worlds most authentic Mexican taco shop outside of Mexico. It's not even like it's a restaurant, it feels like I'm at mi abuela's casa in the hills. The service is so sweet, it's just love all around. The presentation isn't much, but when you have a product like this all you really need is that product. They go a step further by being nice, but I would still rather hear if they were rude. I don't care! I'll probably be back next week. I love these people.

Everyone was so kind when I went in. I don't speak very good Spanish, but I was greeted very kindly and my special requested food was made perfectly. I traveled from Florida and I was most excited to try this place while on my vacation. We leave tomorrow and I 100% must stop by again before we head back to Florida, lol. The tortillas taste so amazing and everything was cooked to perfection. 10/10 estrellas.

Beef, potatoes, eggs and cheese with sauce on fresh hand-made tortillas. Delicious. Got 12 tortillas to go. Young lady was very nice and the price is good. I'd come back.

One of my favorite woman-owned businesses in Houston. This taqueria is owned and operated by a fleet of hard working women. From the back kitchen to the front of the house, it's all women cooking and serving up fresh made plates. Even the wall mural pays homage to the matriarchs who serve their families and community. Enjoy homemade flour and corn tortillas -- made to order right in front of ya -- spicy salsitas, aguas frescas, veggie options for people like moi who don't eat meat, tacos, caldos, sopes, the occasional fideo, and menudo on weekends.Back to my intro... I don't know who "Monchey" is, pero nomás quiero dar gracias a las madres y mujeres en este negocio. Name change?

I've been twice now and it's consistently good. You can tell by how packed it always is! The ladies up front are nice and they move fast! The tortillas are the true star. Not as soft and I'm normally used to in San Antonio but authentic. The food is good. I have not found authentic Mexican food in Houston (like I'm used to in San Antonio) and this will be my go-to spot. My go-to is breakfast tacos. The salsas are good too but not spicy.
