Taqueria de Jalisco

Frequent this place about once a month and it has slowly declined and today's visit finally made my "will no longer frequent" list. Place was understaffed, had one waitress for the seven tables that had patrons. Our order was simple, Chile con queso, torta, caldo de res, and two kids plates. No special requests. The queso never arrived and when our food was brought the waitress asked if we still wanted the queso. The caldo de res had good flavor but the meat was hard and chewy- inedible. I informed the waitress and she replied with "I don't know what I can do to help you."I understand they are short staffed but this does not excuse poor quality and rudeness.

This was my first visit. I was brought here by some friends. this is more Texican than Mexican. I have lived in Mexico and have traveled extensively throughout Mexico for many years. I suppose that affected my expectations. I smiled at the item called "crispy tacos" which were served in American style taco shells. Their American clients will expect those for sure due to Taco Bell's influence. To their credit, the tortillas were freshly made and were wonderful. The aguas frescas were also great. I recommend the pineapple flavored. The service was friendly and efficient. However I was disappointed with my order of carne guisada which was more of stewed meat in a gravy rather than the traditional Mexican style sauce which has tomatoes, onions, garlic, some kind of chili pepper and often chunks of carrot or potato. My friends immediately saw that it was not like Mexican carne guisada and offered me to order something else. I did not want to make a fuss, so I just mixed some salsa in with the gravy which helped it. My friends ordered the #1, the Jalisco plate, with which I probably would have been more pleased. The menu is quite extensive and I'm sure there are other entrées I would have enjoyed more. Next time I will probably try the chile relleno. I think it's kind of a hit or miss unless you know what to order. The décor was great. I loved the mural of the maguey field, a common site in the State of Jalisco. I would be glad to try them again. I just won't order the meat with gravy they call "carne guisada."

I went to this establishment on Saturday and ordered 2 menudos, one for my mom and myself. When the food came I noticed it had a lot of salt (Salado), so I asked for extra lemon. Maybe I can fix it with that, but no it' didn't work. I didn't want to be rude to the waitress but my mom's menudo was salty as well. She finally told the waitress and she said well I saw y'all eating it, but we honestly only took about 4 spoonfuls of it. Anyways she said well I can't give you the money back but I can exchange for something else. Okay, we ordered caldo de res and she said I can only give you one though. Damn, that sucks but ok. When we got home we put it in the fridge. Yesterday my mom was was going to reheat the caldo and she saw that it was the MENUDO, omg my mom was pissed. She went yesterday and told them everything and the waitress had said we had told her we wanted to take home the MENUDO. I'm NEVER going to this restaurant again.

It's good I like the cheese enchiladas and oh my, there green creamy sauce is delicious!

Why did I not take a photo of my huge breakfast burrito? Yelp Elite faux pas!My coworker and I ran up here real quick for a couple of breakfast burritos. Burritos, not tacos as these things are huge!And man was it good! A huge flour tortilla stuffed with refried beans, bacon, eggs and cheese. Definitely enough for two meals, but if you're starving go for it, no judging! Because this tastes so good you won't want to stop!We always call in the order and go pick it up and they're quick and good and it's always hot. I love this place and definitely recommend for delicious breakfast! Can't wait to try lunch here!

Out of a group of 9 this was our review: I never write reviews, but we had to for this one. The only thing good was the horchata. The food did not meet our expectations. This was not a Mexican restaurant, it was a lot of TexMex, and not the good kind. Not to mention the barf in the sink in the restroom. Would not recommend going here, just save your money. The food was over priced.ps. We are a Mexican

They need to update the work hours posted in the website. Today Friday, me and my wife decided to dinner in this place, so we called and confirmed they are closing at 11:00pm. We arrived to the restaurant at 10:05pm on Friday, and the hostess told us they are almost closing and they have not dine in service, only to-go. Also, they charge 3.5% to your ticket if you pay with credit or debit card.. The food is 6/10. The service is 1.5/10.They lost a client

I'm from San Antonio and came in with 15 people for breakfast. This place has some of the best food in Houston. The place was full but we were seated in less than 10 minutes. Excellent job. Our waitress were awesome , they were quick and always smiling when they around us. The food came out very hot. The tortillas were less than a minute old. Everything was fresh very tastefully. Will definitely be coming back!

very rude customer service sat their for 7 min no one came to my table. this place use to have good customer service i guess the ladies don't care about their job.,.food was ok drinks on the menu were not available sadly I dont recommend
