The first thing that comes to mind when I think of Tangs's: Fresh. The second? Super friendly.I came across Tang's during my usual stake out of food trucks during lunch hour and decided to order a beef and broccoli over brown rice. What I was expecting was the run of the mill Chinese take out version of beef and broccoli: semi tough beef and overcooked broccoli swimming in grease and a large quantity of brown sauce. To my great delight what I got was the complete opposite - the beef was tender and the broccoli was a lively green and incredibly fresh. There was a light and just right amount of sauce and great helping of chili oil. The lady running the truck is so friendly, welcoming & nice (a stark contrast to the lady at Yue Kee). The wait is short and the prices are impressively cheap. Looking forward to coming back and trying the other items on their expansive menu!

You can't beat the $4.50 lunch special here! Don't be fooled by the exterior of the food cart. This place serves DELICIOUS food. I expected everything to be high in sodium / MSG but the food is clean, delightful and frankly better than the brick and mortar Chinese restaurant across the street. I highly recommend the Chicken with Eggplant

I tried their Kung Pao Chicken. Quite a disappointment. Basically they mix the boiled chicken slices and boiled veggies together, and spill some sauce on top. It would be quite an innovation if they were able to re-create the authentic Chinese foods in this way. Sadly that was not the case. And interestingly, I believe their rendition of the Kung Pao flavor is using a mixture of soy sauce and sriracha. How can you cook a dish just by imagining how it's cooked? The only reason I give them a 2-star review is their efficiency. You don't need to wait for 20 mins to get your food, so I assume some people would take the bad taste as a trade-off for the wait. There are several Chinese food trucks that are quite good in university city, but Tang's is clearly not one of them.

I tried Tang's tofu with garlic/curry on brown rice. The best part is that the dish included a substantial serving of real vegetables. There was carrot, broccoli, cabbage, celery, and a bit of onion and green pepper (1 slice). There were 8 pieces of fried tofu in an extremely mild and not very flavourful "curry" sauce. Brown rice option comes at no extra cost. ($3.50)This seems to be one of the better options for Chinese food on campus. There's plenty of vegetables, it's not especially greasy. While the food wasn't particularly flavourful, it was fairly good clean food with a good helping of vegetables.

Tang's is another Chinese food truck on Penn's campus. An alternative to Yue Kee's, it's a good substitute for someone who doesn't want to deal with the cantankerous Yue Kee lady or the Yue Kee wait.Tang's is so much faster than Yue Kee's because they don't stir-fry the food fresh for you on the spot. Nonetheless, their food still comes out piping hot and is quite delicious and fast. My favorite is the "egglan & tofu" followed closely by the "egglan and chicken". I love that purple vegetable! Get reacquainted with this delectable vegetable. Your mother would be proud.I can't explain the personality difference. They have an extensive menu and almost all of their options are under $4. Wait time during lunch hour is ~15-20 mins from the time you get in line to food in hand.

The only Chinese food truck I frequent for multiple reasons. 1) It's reasonably priced2) It's fast3) They're friendly4) It's yum, yum tasty!I always get the General Tso's Chicken (3.5/5stars), and I like it with fried rice on the side. It's not anything out of this world, but it is rather scrumptious on a sunny day. I'm not saying it's healthy food or anything, but it's yummy food.

She's dependable and gets her eggplant fresh, plus as Beca M. pointed out, she's FAST. I always substitute my rice with lo mein (no extra charge!) and get some shrimp eggplant combo. What's most important to me is that along Spruce Street, there is some decent Chinese food (maybe she's Cantonese, which would explain the way she cooks a little more...).

For some reason, Tang's is the most overlooked food truck on campus. It may be its less than desirous location across the street from the Upper Quad Gate, crowded among such favorites as Chez Yasmine, Lovash, as well as both Le Anh's. When someone thinks of an Asian food truck, Kim's or Yue Kee typically come to mind. However, I'd argue Tang's deserves to be right up with those.Tang's menu is structured slightly differently from what one might be used to. They are sorted by protein, and you get your choice of "topping", such as vegetables, broccoli, kung pao, etc. I find this much easier for me as a customer, as opposed to the typical sorting by lo mein, fried rice, etc. But what makes Tang so amazing is its brown rice...for free. Show me another establishment that provides brown rice for no surcharge and I'll show you a four-star review, at least.

I go to Tang's so much, it's essentially my staple lunch food. I love all the tofu dishes I've had (tofu & vegetables, curry tofu, tofu lo mein, eggplant tofu, spicy tofu, General Tso's tofu) and the lo mein. Free brown rice adds to the greatness of this food truck. The price is really cheap: I usually spend less than $5! They also get foods out pretty fast. I honestly can't think of any bad thing about Tang's. The best thing about this food truck is that I haven't gotten a meal with hair. I've had three meals with hair from "The Real Le Anh" ewww...
