Tacos El Patron

I visited here since it's one of the highest rated taco restaurants in the area. The menu is like a taqueria with a variety of meats for tacos, but they have a full bar, which is pretty rare. They have 6 different Agua Fresca flavors currently, I came for the watermelon. There is a large cocktail menu, plus 9 types of specialty margaritas on the other side of the menu on the table. If you like birria, not only do they have tacos, but also birria pizza, birria ramen, and birria fries. If you are a flavored margarita person, you have hit the jackpot, as they have 18 flavors. Not on the regular menu, they also serve grilled cheese and mac and cheese.I ordered one birria taco with cheese, one head taco, and chose the beans and grilled onions as my free sides. I also ordered an egg taco and a traditional flan for dessert.The head taco was pretty good and served as a street taco with corn tortilla. It's pretty similar to a barbacoa taco.The birrria taco is about twice the size and comes with a cup of consome. This was really delicious.I enjoyed the other items and would definitely return, and recommend them to anyone living in the area.

I came here a few months ago and thought the food and portion size was great! Then I returned for the second time and I feel like there was something lacking. Maybe it was the portion size or the meat quality, which is a shame. But regardless, the food and service is decent enough to return. Especially the beverages!I love the variety of salsas they provide and the server always inform us what is the hottest to least hot. I've tried the quesa birria tacos which I enjoyed. Good amount of crunch on the outside, flavorful, and nice consome. I also got to try the street tacos with lengua. I thought this was just ok. I wish 3 tacos could have been a little more fulfilling, and the flavors was just okay.Regardless, I'd continue to come back to try other menu options. Can't wait to try other beverages!

We finally tried this place after discovering it was closer than we thought. When we arrived we were treated warmly and chose our seats. We placed our order for food and drinks and didn't have a long wait with the drinks coming first. I had the cantarito which was ok. I'll know next time to ask for no tajin on the rim because it was overpowering to me. My husband liked his margarita. I liked having the different salsas to try with our tacos. My favorite had to be the Norteno. It was bigger than I expected but full of flavor and the pepper that comes with it wasn't too spice but complimented the taco well. I liked the vampiro and my pastor was ok. My husband really liked his shrimp taco and thought his asada and birria were ok. Every thing was fine until it was time for the check. We noticed everyone else being brought their tab and checked out at the table and we had to go up to the register. That dampened our experience a little but we're willing to give them another try. I really would like to try the aguas frescas.

Boy this little unassuming hole-in-the-wall has amazing tacos - I'll definitely be back. And great selection of sauces & infused tequila

After I got a taste of Tacos El Patron at a recent Yelp event we needed more.When we had a hankering for some quesabirria I knew where to go.I set up a to go order on their website so it would be ready by the time we arrived.We decided to try the quesabirria torta and it was delicious !The star of the show to me is quesabirria either as a taco or torta.The al pastor tacos are also my favorite they are so flavorful and tender.The staff is always friendly and it feels like you're eating at a family run restaurant.

Birria tacos that are worth the money! Complimentary chips and salsa were perfect although I could have used more salsa. I got their popular birria taco, fish taco (pescado), and taco al pastor. If you order 2 tacos, you get complimentary sides of radish, grilled onion, beans, and cactus. The birria was definitely standout in terms of flavor and portion. Although I have had better in Houston, this was still good, especially for the area. (4/5)The fish taco has a decent size piece of good quality fish sitting in a bed of cabbage. The sauce was less traditional/more Americanized. (3.5/5)The al pastor had plentiful amount of pork but the meat to tortilla ratio was too high- I think making the tacos smaller (& charging accordingly) may make it more cohesive. (3.5/5)I tried the hibiscus and strawberry limeade Agua frescas which were delicious and generously portioned. (4/5)This is a dine in and someone will come to your table to take your order / serve you type of place. Service can be a bit slow but staff are friendly. They come out with a card reader for the bill at the end where you tip in front of the server which is a little awkward. I have been to taco places where you order at the front & they deliver your tacos to you which I think would be more efficient!

This place hits all the marks. The gentleman that served us was super friendly and helpful. He brought us chips and all of their sauces and answered our questions about the menu. I started with a topo-Chico drink and he asked me if I wanted it with salt and lime, which doesn't happen very often, so that was a good start.We got 2 quesobirria tacos, one vampiro with pastor meat, one cabeza and one asada taco. When asked if we wanted their freebie sides (beans, nopales, onions and radish) we had to oblige.All of their tacos are STACKED; two or three and you're full. The birria is delicious and loaded with cheese wrapped in crunchy tortilla and the consome is delicious and so savory. My next favorite was the Vampiro tostada with pastor; topped with generous mashed avocado, atop a tender marinated pork over a cheesy and crispy tostada. The cabeza and asada tacos were good also but the stars of the show were definitely the birria and the vampiro tostada. We ended with ice cream churro which was delicious as well.Would totally go back to this tasty restaurant where you get your moneys worth and the service is top notch!

Cheap, fresh tacos! The pescado fish taco is huge. The pastor taco is juicy and good too. Great customer service and they have so many flavors for margaritas. My new favorite neighbour restaurant.

The food and service here is fire! The music is great too. Great prices with generous portions. Must try.
