It was freaking cold outside. So, I was excited to eat something spicy to warm myself up. We came here for dinner to catch up with our friend and her husband. Here's a breakdown of the food: Red oil wontons (1/5): The most disappointing dish. It looked like it came from a frozen food package and boiled until the wrapping was too broken to hold the filling. It was not even mixed in with the hot chili oil sauce. Instead, the sauce was placed on the side. The sauce also looked like it came from a container you can buy in an Asian supermarket. Sweet and sour eggplant(1/5): My sis and I didn't like it. It was too sweet for our liking. We definitely have had better. Cumin beef (3/5): Average, at best. I have had better, flavor wise.Fried chicken cubes (3/5): Pretty good. Crispy enough. But, there were too many dried red peppers and not enough fried chickenTripe (3/5): Just ok. Good texture, though. It was probably the most flavorful of the dishes that night. Unfortunately, NONE of the dishes were spicy at all, nor were they flavorful enough for my palette. Compared to Mala Sichuan Cuisine, Cooking Girl, and Yuan Kitchen, this spot is just average. I probably won't be back.

Solid Sichuan food. We ordered the mapo tofu, sautéed vegetable with garlic and spicy beef noodle. Everything was tasty and affordable. It was pretty empty when we walked in but it was also pretty late. A few more folks walked in after we sat down. Service was fast and friendly. The mapo tofu was a bit salty and had a fermented bean that wasn't black bean but was still yummy. I wish I had ordered it spicier. My husbands noodles were a good texture and the beef was soooo tender. That bowl of noodles was delicious! I also highly recommend the sautéed bok choy with a simple garlic sauce. If we were in Chinatown for a late dinner, I would come back. Nothing outstanding but everything was very solidly good.

A friend and I decided to try out this place for lunch. As I looked into the parking lot, I then realized I have been here once before. I don't recall how the food was, but was excited to try it out again as I saw some great selections from the photos on yelp! We ordered a cold noodle dish with mince chicken and chili oil. My friend and I thought it was great, and we were even thinking about ordering another, but decided to save for a new dish. Our other order was a beef with cabbage dish, in a thick soupy broth. My apologies for not remembering the names as we ordered by recommendation from the server, and by photos on yelp that did not have captions. Both dishes were very good and not too spicy, but we loved the cold noodle dish best! All in all I really enjoyed this place and I am excited to come back and try out more selections from their menu!Customer service was good, and I appreciated the server being patient with us by giving her opinion and recommended dishes. She was nice, and food came out fast! I would definitely recommend this place and will be back soon!

Chuan. Chuan. Chuan. See? I know how to Say Chuan.Anyway, house everything going with you?Yet another excellent Szechuan restaurant in HTX, with really yum spicy diced chicken AKA Chongqing chicken - and good Mapo Tofu and lots of other nommy dishes that you will enjoy. The Eggplant is pretty tasty as well, but heavy. There is a wealth of Sichuan food in Houston's Chinatown which will totally spoil you. Come over here and give it a try for yourself. Bite Of Spice is my number one, but this place is definitely in the top 5 or so.SH is a little bit more authentic perhaps than the most notorious and popular - Mala Sichuan - and you can tell because the only people in here are normally Chinese, whereas over at Mala you have all sorts of international clientele. It's also much less popular than Mala, so it definitely needs your support - and once you taste the stuff here you'll be glad to give it to them. And once you taste my stuff, you'll be glad I gave it to you.

The food was pretty good! I got the mapo tofu, cold noodles and the stir fry kidney plate. I thought everything was decent! The rice was amazing with these dishes!

Very bland dishes that are way overpriced to chinatown's Other Szechuan restaurants. Horrible service. No one waits on you and takes orders with half the place empty. The fish is watery and the fried layer is mushy. Terrible food and service. Will NOT recommend this overpriced mess to anyone.

Szechuan House makes you feel right at home, from the friendly service to the food. You get a bowl of peanuts to munch on while waiting for your meal and fresh fruit for dessert afterwards. They have a great selection of Szechuan dishes to fit everyone's spicy needs, even the things with chili peppers next to them aren't that spicy which is the only drawback because you'd think that'd be a clear indicator of spice. My friend and I ordered the kung pao chicken and beef noodle soup. My friend asked to make her soup less spicy but it was still a little spicy to her. This place had the worst reviews on Yelp but I like to try a place myself to judge it and wow, it was so good I can't wait to come back. The lady there was so nice and welcoming, she also was the one who served us the food, and the food came in huge portions and very tasty. She even bagged up our leftovers for us (the nicer places in Chinatown don't even do that for you). I understand people/a spot may have a bad/off day, but to all the bad reviews I'd say go give it another try - I already told all my friends about it!

Food are expensive for the quality and quantity. It takes a long time to bring out the food. Plates are dirty, tables are sticky, and forks have leftovers. If not the worst, Definitely top 3 worst restaurants I didn't see for a long time泡椒牛肉用不是泡椒是墨西哥绿辣椒;粉蒸肉吃一点儿就会腻不知哪个环节出了错;夫妻肺片是冷冻的,泡在里面的汁就是冰水在微波炉里打化了出来的;辣子鸡丁是裹粉的,还不是一般的厚,应该叫超厚面粉炸鸡丝.盘子脏脏,桌子粘粘,上菜极慢,叉子上还前人的饭菜,如果大便干燥,不如一试。难言之隐,原粪搞定
