Come early! Sometimes people wait about 30 mins before they open because tables fill up fast. Mr and Mrs miyagi are super kind and always on the move to serve customers as fast as they can. It is absolutely worth the wait to eat here and I've recommended it to all my friends. I always come here for our anniversary. The pieces are HUGE and the quality reminds me of sushi from Japan. MUST TRY the agedashi tofu, soba noodles, Japanese curry over rice, crispy salmon salad and the sushi of course. Who am I kidding, everything is good here LOLParking is in a plaza. I can't sing enough praise about this spot!

Such a lovely sushi spot! It looks like a sweet older couple runs the whole show, from the kitchen and sushi station, to serving tables. They don't take orders over the phone so if you want to-go, you still have to wait your turn in person. Their menu is huge for just two people managing the entire restaurant. The sushi pieces are so big, so the rice ratio is sometimes too much but I don't mind. Their yellowtail and spicy scallop sushi were my favorites, I would definitely come back just for that. The tonkatsu rice was delicious too! The slightly crispy battered pork with egg and rice was such a comforting combination. The wait is a bit long but that didn't bother us or anyone around us. The sushi is 100% worth it!

The most comforting mom & pop sushi shop!! The quaint & cozy restaurant made me feel at home as I ate my meal, and everything tasted like it was made with love. The sushi tastes clean & fresh, and every piece was cut into thick slices. Miso soup comes with your meal if you order a chirashi or sushi set from the lunch menu, it was delicious! It was so warm and silky, and the green onions were cut into perfectly thin slices that complimented the soup. The udon had a bouncy chewy texture. I loved everything that I tried from here. The quality is amazing, and the owners seem to love what they do. There may be a bit of a wait since the restaurant is ran by the couple, but it's worth the wait if you have time!

When me and my wife first stepped foot into the restaurant, the first thought that came to mind was "this was like eating at our grandma's," and surely enough, we were right. The food was delicious. We got the crispy salmon salad and a soba noodle soup and both were outstanding. However, I specifically wanted to highlight how delicious the soba noodle soup was. Me and my wife both agreed that this was the star of the show and ordered extra to enjoy at home. The atmosphere was nice and quiet yet friendly and warm thanks to Mrs. Miyagi's smile. Overall, would definitely recommend Sushi Miyagi for an enjoyable Japanese lunch experience.

The first time I went, there was no line or wait, but the next time I went there was a small line forming before they even opened! Very cozy and amazing sushi. It's more on the pricy side, but definitely worth it. Also amazing service! They were super nice and fun. I would definitely come back when I get my bag up!!

This is such a cute, hole in the wall, mom and pop shop located in a strip mall in Chinatown. You need to come here early to line up as the place is small with only a couple of tables. I came on a random weekday at 11:45am and there was a line of 6 people already there. Ambiance: I love all the charming Japanese decor. Super casual place, run only by a Japanese husband and wife. The wife is fast, so be ready and quick with your order! She is super attentive and efficient! What we ordered:- Isabe Age: this fish cake tempura was crisp and tasty- Oshinko: the pickled vegetables were a perfect compliment to all the fish and rice - Chirashi Lunch: the fish was fresh and cut thickly, was definitely more filling than I thought it would be - Unaju Lunch: this broiled eel dish was my favorite! Definitely get this if you enjoy eel!- Assorted Maki: we got the crispy spicy tuna, spicy yellowtail, and dragon and all were good! Each maki is big enough that you need to eat it in 2 bites. I liked this dish the least, it was too much rice for me. Overall, this place is extremely well run and the food is tasty! Come early, know what you want, and come hungry!

NOTE: My friend and I came in on Thursday at 12:30 but was informed that it would be a two hour wait for food so we came on Friday at 11:40 (there were already two people waiting in front of us and by 11:50, there was a line of 15 people). If you want to be seated right away, I would strongly recommend arriving at the latest 11:45. On other weekdays (besides Friday) and the weekend, you might get away with arriving around 11:50/12 but the earlier the better because the inside isn't very big.Review: This is a hole in the wall restaurant ran by an older Japanese couple. The husband is the one making/assembling all the sushi and sashimi while the wife is tirelessly taking and running orders. My friend and I ordered the Agedashi Tofu, Spicy Hotate Sushi, Spicy Salmon Roll, and the Sushi Lunch Combo. From the miso soup to the sushi, everything tasted amazing and fresh here. The agedashi tofu was perfectly fried and the sauce was delicious. The sushi was just as amazing - the fish pieces were thick so I appreciate the fact that they didn't skimp on that unlike many other sushi spots. The interior was also super cute, full of Japanese decor and knick knacks. I was also able to talk to the owners a little bit and they are super sweet and hardworking. It was so nice being able to support a small local Japanese business. Japanese people are hard to come by in general so it was heartwarming to finally be able to converse with Japanese folks besides my family members. Overall, I absolutely loved it here and will be coming back!ごちそうさまでした!

Sushi Miyagi is a relaxing mom and pop shop. Inside, the restaurant is exceptionally clean and feels homey. The service here by Mrs. Miyagi is fast-paced and kind. Please be patient as Mr. Miyagi is the only one making the sushi. The nigiri here is very fresh and has a quality taste to it. Overall, Sushi Miyagi feels like you are having a tasty meal back at your parents' house.FOOD REVIEW:- Miso Soup (5/5): soup base is exceptionally flavorful with mini bits of tofu, green onions, and seaweed.- Spicy Crispy Salmon Salad (5/5): lettuce is fresh, salmon is covered with a spicy mayo sauce (not too spicy, so don't worry), and crispy bits of onions.- Chirashi Lunch (5/5): fresh pieces of salmon, tuna, shrimp, eel, crab, red snapper with sushi rice underneath.- Houston Maki (3.5/5): a simple roll with salmon, avocado, and spicy mayo, but it could've used more flavor.- Spicy Scallop Roll (5/5): spicy scallop was fresh and flavorful with its hot sauce.- Sushi Lunch (4/5): chef's choice of fish cuts.- Tobiko Sushi (4/5): fish egg quality was nice with a huge portion size!- Sake Sushi (5/5): huge cuts of fresh and fatty salmon, which tasted amazing!- Spider Maki (4/5): rolls were huge and filled with soft shell crab, which was a bit soggy, but still tasty.

I haven't been here in years!!! I have returned. We had to map it to make sure we got to the correct place. The outside is hard to identify the restaurant until you see the windows (the name is on the window). You enter and the lady (I believe it's a husband and wife team) will seat you and there are only 7 tables. We went around 1:30 on a weekday. She will take your order and she is very helpful and patient. We ordered the sushi lunch special, udon noodles soup, and 6 piece salmon sushi. The lunch special comes with a miso soup. The sushi has thick pieces of fish on it. The udon soup is HUGE!!! Everything tasted great. Our food came out pretty quick! I love the cute decorations they have and how thankful the employees (probably owners) they are for us coming in. Definitely will be back!

Besides the odd hours and possible long wait time, the food was amazing! Rice is perfectly seasoned and fish were fresh and well portioned. Their Naruto appetizer is hands down the best in Houston. My pregnancy called for it and I had to make the drive down here and wait for opening to get it. Worth it. The chirashi bowl is well portioned and very fresh. (Pic not taken) It's a small mom and pop shop so expect slower than usual service. However, the wife is super sweet so you just can't help but be understanding. Sometimes I do wish they'd hire help to speed the process along. It seems like they can accommodate about 6-8 tables at a time. They usually have everyone leave before doing a big clean up and letting the next round of clustomers in. So if you miss the first round, expect to wait an hour at least to get seated.
