Sushi By The Heights

We ordered takeout here so I'm gonna give a little leeway on this review.For the appetizers we got seaweed salad, agedashi tofu, and vegetable tempura. The seaweed salad was standard but they added spice to it which was interesting. The vegetable tempura had a good flavor and the batter was nice and even. It wasn't crispy but that's because it was takeout and put in a container after being cooked, so that's understandable. The tofu was nice and pillowy inside. I enjoyed whatever the flossy crispies they added to their tempura batter.I also tried the unagi sashimi and akami tuna nigiri. The unagi was cut different than what I'm used to, the pieces were a lot thinner, so $3 a piece is a bit much in my opinion, but it was good. The akami tuna nigiri was not for me. It was not bad, I just found the flavor odd. I think it was the truffle mayo that left an unpleasant pickled taste in my mouth. But the quality of the fish was excellent!As for the rolls we got an avocado maki, shrimp tempura asparagus maki, and the love at first sight roll. Avocado roll was solid. The tempura asparagus roll with some eel sauce was so delicious! The love at first sight roll had quality fish in it and tasted light. Overall I think this is a place to go for good quality sushi. I wouldn't say anything was amazing but everything was good! I would go back to try other rolls!

They have one of the best Happy Hour menus in Houston!Everyday from 3-7pm they feature an amazing HH menu, and today was one of the several times we've been. We got their Firecracker Shrimp, Deconstructed Osaka Sushi, Sashimi Sampler, and an Uni Shooter. Every item was so good, so fresh, and what other sushi HH menu has uni?! Our favorite item overall was the Firecracker Shrimp because of how coated it was in the sauce but how it still maintained a crispy texture. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive, and we love how dark and intimate it looks inside. There's a parking lot for the shopping center located next to the restaurant. Would recommend!

The food is amazing! We went here for a surprise bday for my boyfriend. The staff were very nice but it seems they are confused or short staffed. The person brining out the food didn't take it to the right people, did not speak English, and seemed scared. Our server was nice and accommodated 8 seperate checks for 15 people. We decided to just order as we went so as not to overwhelm the kitchen. Here are some pics. Expect great food and slow service. Worth it for us!Also amazing happy hour until 7pm! Epic!

1st Review of 2024! Hope yall are doing well! Well well well Where do i start This place was pretty nice inside for the size of the restaurant, the owner knew what he was doing with the layout (tables, entrance , bar, and main dining room) I sat at one of the tables near the bar and had a nice shotgun view of the entire restaurant. Pretty nice restrooms too!!! With hygienic amenities! The sushi was amazingPieces of Fatty tuna , king salmon , and various chef recommendations. The Heights roll? was pretty good! Service was amazing. Great staff. The owner should give himself a raise for the hospitality that was displayed to me and my lady friend. She enjoyed her cocktail as well! The deserts were great too , we had the molten cake and the donuts. The donuts were my favorite , I will be back for sure.

Very underrated sushi spot in the heights! There's parking in the lot next door (shared with Studemont Cantine) so super convenient We came in during lunch and the one guy was doing it all! behind the bar, host, and waiter. He was great and I wish i remembered his name. The food was really tasty, and the lunch specials are a great deal. He gave us both options of soup AND salad! I hear their HH is great so I will have to come back and do that

I'm so glad I decided to get this place a try. Right off Studewood in the Heights, this gem was worth the try! I was able to place a quick reservation via Yelp and was seated within 10 mins. Our server was Tina, and she gave some excellent suggestions. I definitely suggest this place for great sushi, service, and drinks! I know I will be a returning customer!! Bianca

Great date night spot.It's very easy to get a reservation or walk in to get a spot.We loved the house salad and the sashimi bomb!The maki was good, not blow your mind good, but good.

Considering the ambiance of the restaurant and area that it was in, I was truly expecting higher quality tasting food. Everything that we ordered was edible, but nothing outstanding in presentation and it didn't wow our tastebuds. We ordered two rolls (around$16 each), one uni roll which was more fishy than buttery ($10), and the uni shooter ($12) just wasn't for me. The vibes in the restaurant were very nice but we were sat by an unsightly wine storage room which was left open to be seen by the public - not very romantic for an anniversary dinner. Our server was nice and checked on us often; however the kitchen was slow and it wasn't very busy. The best thing that we had was the crème brûlée cheesecake, though I have to say it was only good to us because all of the previous menu items were lacking. I would not recommend this place to a friend.

Pretty good sushi spot in the Heights! They have good happy hour prices from 3-7pm on weekdays and the setting is perfect for date night. Love the soft light and trendy interior.Items we ordered from HH menu:1. Vegetable tempura: this was so good! Perfectly battered not too heavily and garnished in detail. It comes with ponzu sauce and sriracha sauce, though the sriracha sauce has a bit of a kick so I preferred to dip in the ponzu 2. Spicy tuna tartare: I thought the tuna itself was a bit too strong in flavor but nevertheless a beautiful dish 3. Jacos (Japanese tacos): this was very flavorful but so good! 2 crispy tacos that with a sauce but the filling itself had enough flavor without it4. Salmon tamago avocado roll: didn't look that appetizing but ended up being our favorite! The tamago egg had a sweetness that paired so well with the roll The staff was a bit busy/understaffed but treated us well! I'll be back again.

Friday afternoon (3:30) was an amazing experience for me, one of the only two guests present, the customer service, music and hospitality was wonderful! Didn't go to create content so of the 4 things that I got: Calamari (5/10), Tuna tartar (9/10) green dragon roll(10/10) & glass of wine (forgettable) I am thoroughly impressed and will be back to try sooo much more from the menu!
