My coworker raved about Suki Sushi last month after trying it for the first time. When she told me that she'd be going there regularly since she lived in the area, I knew I would have to try it. At this point, I've gone to Suki Sushi three times already -- once to dine-in, and twice for takeout. I was never disappointed, and I would still visit if I'm ever in the area again!** Food: 8/10 **On my first visit, I tried a bento box (with teriyaki beef, California roll, and tempura), red snapper nigiri, and a spicy scallop hand roll. My favorite thing about the bento is that I can customize what 3 entrees I want in it, so I don't have to worry about ending up with something I don't want. * Teriyaki beef (10/10): This was amazing! I could taste that there was a slight char to the beef for an extra kick of flavor, which most other Japanese restaurants do not do with their teriyaki. I could eat this everyday, honestly. * California roll (??/10): I personally don't like this kind of roll, so I didn't eat any of it. My boyfriend ate all if of though, and he didn't have any criticisms. * Tempura (9/10): I love that the batter used for tempura here is not as heavy. It tastes lighter and a more airy, so to speak. I don't feel as bad after eating several pieces. * Red snapper nigiri (5/10): The fish was a bit bland for some reason. There was neither freshness nor brinyness to it, and I have no idea how this could be. * Spicy scallop hand roll (10/10): If you like spicy, this is definitely something to try! The hand roll is a good size, and there's plenty of scallop so that you don't feel skimped out on the price. For my second visit, I ordered a bento box as takeout. This time, I had to get the teriyaki beef again. It was just so good! Other items I got were: * Sashimi (7/10): The cuts weren't that big, and I felt neutral about the taste of each fish piece. I was neither impressed nor disappointed. * Chicken katsu (9/10): The chicken cutlet was huge! The texture was near perfection -- crispy and not dry inside. My only issue with the katsu was that too much sauce was drizzled on top of it. I would have preferred the sauce to be packaged separately for takeout, both to maintain the crispiness better and to also allow me some control on how much sauce I want on the cutlet. For my third visit, I didn't try any new items and just created another bento box with a mix of previous items that I liked~** Service: 10/10 **The owner is very nice, efficient with sushi rolls, and full of smiles and warmth. I can tell he cares a lot about his business and whether or not his customers are having a good time eating the food there. The other worker I saw was a lady who waited and handled takeout orders. She was an absolute delight, and she also offered her own recommendations on what was good.** Ambiance: 10/10 **The restaurant isn't too big, but the atmosphere is very cozy and comforting. You can sit comfortably and not have to worry about too much excessive noise, and the decor is easy on the eyes. I found the utensil box on the tables very cute and a nice touch too! There's a fork, spoon, and pair of chopsticks inside -- although I wonder why they have chopsticks in there while also providing chopsticks outside of it?

Wowowow. What a breath of fresh air suki sushi is.1. The staff- 12/10The owner is so kind and friendly and was gracious to give us a complimentary mochi dessert and a cute sushi keychain to thank us for checking them out as they're still relatively new.2. The food- 10/10I'm pretty picky with sushi and get scared trying new places because you never know but this sushi was so bomb. The owner/chef created his own signature rolls and the one we got were chef's kiss! So so scrumptious. My favorite roll was I think- the flaming dragon roll. So so so addictive! I would've eaten another one or two!3. The ambiance- 10/10It was nice and clean everything that you could ever ask for. I wish the best for Suki Sushi! Come and check them out! My friend and I will definitely be spreading the word for the fantastic experience, hospitality and top tier sushi.

Suki Sushi is having their soft opening now. They are located on a strip mall with plenty of parking space. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. Though the restaurant is small, it has plenty of seats for a party of four, and maybe bigger group. I ordered the assorted sashimi, and the flaming dragon roll. I would give A+ for presentation on both dishes. The sculptured ice carp on the sashimi plate was beautiful. The sashimi slices were thick and fresh. But it would have been better if there were more variety of sashimi. The flaming dragon roll was flavorful. However, the tempura shrimp was not crispy. Service was awesome and attentive. I would come back to try other dishes.

My Wife and I spent Thanksgiving in the hospital as we had just welcomed our Baby girl a few hours prior. Of course the 1st meal she wanted was sushi since it had been restricted during the pregnancy. Suki sushi was one of the few that were opened thanksgiving night and we were pleasantly surprised. It was our 1st time trying them out. I ordered 4 rolls Flaming dragonMonsterRock n rollNegihamaAll delicious!! To top off the food experience I found a thank you card in the takeout bag and GET THIS! IT WAS HAND WRITTEN! This may not mean anything to most but a hand written card goes a long way in terms of customer service! Highly recommend this place. Can't say you'll get a hand written card also but at least you'll have a great food experience!

They say "one eats with their eyes first" and this place understood the assignment. The ambiance was nice and I like the small touches like the decorative chop sticks; it's those small details that pull it together. The service was five stars; they were attentive and offered recommendations for us first timers. The prices were very reasonable in my opinion for the quality of service and food. I've had my fair share of sashimi and this spot was up on my list of favorites. The spider roll and ocean roll were fantastic. You can clearly tell the ingredients were well picked and fresh.

TL,DR: Some of the best sushi in the Houston area, with super creative and tasty rolls! This hidden gem sushi spot is tucked away in the corner of a strip mall in Sugar Land, TX and I'm so glad I tried it! Their sushi rolls IMO are in the upper echelon of quality for Houston sushi spots, especially when considering the relatively affordable price ($14-$16 per roll). Also, all of their rolls are plated and decorated very nicely, which definitely improves the experience as well. Will definitely be frequenting this place more often when I want sushi! Here's what I ordered:-Suki Special Roll - shrimp tempura and cucumber topped with tuna, salmon, spicy crab, tobiko and green onion-Highway 6 Roll - unagi eel and fresh crab meat-Miu Miu Roll - fresh crab meat, tobiko fish roe, shrimp tempura, spicy mayo-Agedashi Tofu

Who would have thought that some of the best sushi in the greater Houston area would be found right here in my back yard in Sugar Land???When I initially saw this place open up, I was worried because right across the street you could get Sushi Masa or Keepers - both established entities for locals in the area, and I didn't know how this place would distinguish itself. Here's the thing - if you're looking for typical, run-of-the-mill, Americanized sushi and you're just trying to fill your belly, those places are fine. This place, however, is where you go if you want a high quality meal - in the same tier as Sushi Miyagi on Bellaire or Uchi on Westheimer. From the outside, the restaurant looks bland and unassuming (thanks, Sugar Land business ordinances) but don't let appearances fool you. Upon stepping inside, you have a beautifully decorated establishment perfect for a date night. Once seated, the tableware blew me away. From the wood-engraved chopsticks, to the tea kettle of soy sauce, you can tell these people really poured their heart and souls into making even the smallest details of their restaurant presentable and delightful. And of course the crowning jewel - the food. Wherever the owner sources their fish from is on a different level. The quality of the salmon and tuna sashimi especially stand out, and rival some of the ridiculously expensive omakase places I've had in New York City. The tuna was so meaty and the salmon was so fatty I want to go back right now and just order a platter of both. The takoyaki had an extra crispy exterior while maintaining a smooth, creamy interior. The tempura batter was light and had a slighty sweet, aromatic flavor (compared to the typically heavy, oily tempura most restaurants serve), and the spicy tuna hand roll was so good we had to order extra. Is this place more expensive than your typical Americanized sushi joint? Yes. Is it worth every penny ? Also yes. The team behind this restaurant deserve all the praise and success in the world. Please give them a visit - you won't be disappointed.

1 for service (kind & attentive without being intrusive)1 for presentation- the lacquered box of edamame, the table carafe of water, the rock style'bowl' for seaweed salad, the plating of the food1 for value for $ spent 1 for extreme cleanlinessWhat was not over-the-top, sadly, was the food itself. This is not the same quality I'd expected based on reviews. It's not that anything was bad, it just wasn't comparable to even tier 2 sushi in the city. The tuna and the Suki roll were the biggest let downs.

I came here after reading the reviews and I came in with high expectations. A resident sushi snob I have eaten at the best NY and LA have to offer, and Suki gives these posh sushi joints a run for their money without breaking your bank. A local favorite, the sushi was fresh and the service fantastic. I ordered the sashimi chef's special and it came artistically displayed with a flavor profile that was well balanced with just the right portion for a culinary experience that you can't help but tell your friends. If you are in Sugar Land, you gotta stop in for a taste , it's worth the trip.
