We visited Still Life's new location in Chapel Hill a couple weekends ago. I was impressed. I didn't know Chapel Hill had an "upscale" dance/nightclub with a sexy, big city vibe to it. We hung out at "The Loft" bar and lounge on the 3rd floor which I believe is 25-and-up only. The Loft is like a covered rooftop patio with outside views on three sides, none of which face Franklin St directly, unfortunately. But still, it's a cool, sleek spot with a nice-looking bar, white couches, and high-tops.We stayed up in The Loft and never went downstairs where, presumably, the main club and dance floor are located. As we drove down Franklin St to get here, after 11pm on a Saturday night, we saw a line of what looked like undergrad-aged kids waiting to get in. So, I'm not sure what the atmosphere was like downstairs, but things were very "mature," chill, and relaxed upstairs. I didn't feel like I was on Franklin Street in downtown Chapel Hill.We parked for free in the James Wallace Parking Deck, accessible behind Still Life via E Rosemary St. The deck is next to "Amber Alley," which connects the back side of the buildings to Franklin St. On the deck side of the alley, our big group (who had a connection and called ahead) literally got red carpet treatment. Our IDs were checked and we were given wristbands to access The Loft. We took the glass elevator up and down and there were stairs too.Parking in the Wallace Deck was free because we parked outside the hours of operation: 8am-8pm, Monday-Saturday except holidays.According to Still Life Chapel Hill's Instagram page, their rooftop-only soft opening was July 8 and their entire-venue grand opening is two weeks from today on Friday, August 19th: https://www.instagram.com/stilllifeunc/. Currently, there is another Still Life location in Greenville (NC): https://www.yelp.com/biz/still-life-greenville-6. And there used to be a Still Life in Raleigh: https://www.yelp.com/biz/still-life-nightclub-raleigh.I believe this space used to be The Strowd (https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-strowd-chapel-hill) and before that, the Players club (https://www.yelp.com/biz/players-chapel-hill). When my friends were undergrads at UNC, they came to Players. Yep, we're old.Anyway, we had a good time at Still Life and I think this is a club worth checking out. Also, the bartenders were nice and the espresso martini I tried was good. Well made, and nice and strong.

A horrible 'club'. Atmosphere is cliquey and strange. Service is hit or miss. I've had a couple great bartenders but also have been overcharged by amounts upwards of $10. Also why are the floors always wet? I like the upstairs alright because the floors aren't wet up there at least. Don't go here. Just leave this place to the 18-20 yr olds

When I went during summer, it was straight upstairs to the split bars. They charge $5 entry fee and then when you go inside there wasn't really a dance floor but they had two different DJs at both bars and ...I was not vibing with either of their music. On top of that there weren't that many people in there actually dancing and there wasn't really a dedicated dance floor, just a corner with some lights. We requested a song for the DJ and waited for about two songs but decided it wasn't worth it. Kind of a waste of money in my opinion. I'm glad they had a good cider available though.

Tried to go to this place with with friends. Said they were "busy." I offered my platinum card: $200 per person: bouncer said go to an atm and get cash: obv a personal cash grab. Went somewhere else. I would not recommend this establishment.

I didnt know such a low level of service was possible. On 11/10/23 (Friday Night) I organized the purchase of a standard table with two bottles (Apple Ciroc $200 and $200 Crown Apple). In addition, I was charged there standard gratuity which brought the bill to a total of $474.72. I requested to cash out upfront and gave instructions to bring the first bottle out and then the second roughly 30 minutes later. As we got there, roughly around 11pm it took them 30+ minutes to bring out the first bottle and when they did, they placed the bottle in this special locked box. Unbeknownst to us, the club policy is that the server has to pour the drinks and nobody else is allowed to touch the bottle. To make matters worse, the server then disappeared thus leaving my group just staring at our expensive drinks sitting in this locked box for 20+ minutes. Now we were unaware of club policy of the server being the only one allowed to pour, so I grabbed the first bottle out of the box, poured myself a drink and was grabbed by this security guard. I explained I just purchased the table and didn't know the policy to which he replied calling me a fag and repeatedly shoving me. In addition, the club has very step hard metal stairs and on the way down he shoved me again while on the stairs multiple times. Had I been actually able to drink my drinks I paid for, I could have been in a less balanced state and fallen down these stairs. Upon coming to the bottom of the stairs and entrance of the nightclub the same guard then made a big show of ripping off my wristband, giving me one final show and telling my "bitch ass" to get lost. The next morning, I reached out to Stillife to get a refund (Simply put, I and my entire group did not receive any of the service we paid for). I was able to get one person on the phone, in which I politely described the situation and requested my refund and the person right away hung up. I will be leaving my review up until I am properly refunded. As for my review of the club, they pretend as if they are in Miami or Las Vegas. Stillife has two locations, Greensbro NC and Chapel Hill, not exactly clubbing capitals of the world. Please inform your customers of bottle service/drink pouring policy upfront going forward and cut out the angry bouncers with ear piece's and suits act. Chapel Hill is a quaint college town with southern charm, no need for hyper aggressive staff behavior.
