Ambiance and service: busy and loud. A classic dim sum place for that authentic feel! It's what every Sundays are like lol. It's a quick place to get dim sum and they do it traditionally with the steam carts! So you get the food right then and there. Tip: if you have a small group and want to be seated sooner you can ask the host that you are okay sharing a table! It's another great way to meet new people too! Food: comes out piping hot! Each dish was cooked perfectly! The tripe was soft and had a bit of chew. No gaminess at all. It was savory with a mushroom umami. The lotus turnip cakes were squishy but firm and had a good char. The spare ribs were tender and savory with black bean sauce! The baos were pillowy soft with a a good light baked crust. The smelt fish was crispy, salty, not greasy, and did not have a big fishy taste. The oysters were cooked well and not slimy! It was savory with a bit of brine taste. The egg tarts were perfect! Flaky crust and sweet soft egg custard middle. Highly recommend!

Ultimate comfort food for us. I'm originally from LA and so we also love our dimsum over there. All of the food was very flavor and the staff was super friendly. We went on a week night and so it wasn't super busy. They have a parking lot area but can sometimes get packed as there's other business around the plaza. We can't wait to come back with a bigger group so we can try more of their other dishes.

Service has taken a hit but your mileage may vary. Some of the people who push the carts rush around and give you maybe 2-3 seconds at most to grab any additional items. If you happen to take a breath they will continue with their route and nearly avoid you the rest of the dining experience.Food is still great. All their dumplings, vegetables and egg tarts are all Cantonese style which is wonderful. Tastes like childhood for me and it's great to bring friends when they come into town before venturing onto Federal to other places.I would still recommend Star Kitchen. The walls are greasy in the restaurant and in the restrooms. However that's how you know the food is great. When you get here remember to check in at the kiosk in the corridor and when they open you will hear the numbers getting called out. Most importantly, enjoy!

This place is great. They have carts that you're able to make selections off of. All the choices were excellent. It was the problem of too much choice. The service was fast and efficient, but not friendly. Which is common for Chinese restaurants. A friend says the restaurant feels like you're in China. Definitely a great dim sum spot.

We stopped by this restaurant around 3pm and it was so empty! Guess we avoided the dim sum lunch rush! But because we weren't too hungry, we decided to just order some dishes rather than the dim sum. We got the seafood pan fried noodles which I was a big fan of. The noodles came out perfectly crispy as if the sauce had just been poured (because I hate when the noodles get all soggy) and all of the seafood was cooked perfectly. I especially loved the white fish.We also got the three cup Taiwanese chicken. The flavors were good but this dish was just okay for me. The batter on the chicken was kind of too thick and floury for my taste. But the chicken was also cooked really well. I really want to come back to try the actual dim sum though!

Always 5-stars for the cart dimsum foods, my tummy is full and my heart is happy. My favorite are the pan fried rolled rice noodles! Get them! All the dumplings were fresh and fantastic. Soup dumplings were my least favorite because they tasted like any other including frozen varieties but they weren't bad at all. Love the carts, love that they had the Olympics playing on a huge 6 screen TV set up. Service was good, nothing exceptional.

I was visitng Denver and a friend recommended this place for dim sum. We went for late lunch and while it was still very busy, we were able to get seated right away. The carts came by often so we didn't have to wait long to eat. We probably had a full array of tasty eats on our table within five minutes LOL Everything was so delicious! The flake factor of crust on their egg custard tarts are out of this world! The silky smooth custard was evenly cooked. Their recipe is on point, they sure know how to serve up excellent egg custard tarts! This was my favorite :)I thought their dim sum was great. The full carts came around in a timely fashion. Their customer service was polite and their jasmine tea really complimented everything well. Grateful for my friend bringing me here!

Star Kitchen is a Denver staple when it comes to dim sum. I don't think anyone would claim The Mile High as the dim sum capital of America, however this part of town is home to an abundance of incredible Asian restaurants worth checking out.Star Kitchen has been doing its thing for the better half of two decades and when you can come here you'll see what I'm talking about. It's a well oiled machine engrained in tradition, with old school tactics that play well to its kind of operation.TLDR: if you're coming here on a weekend between the hours of 10am-2pm, you can expect to wait. No exceptions. Don't fault the restaurant. They churn and burn through hundreds of hungry dim sum fanatics and make it look easy. When you come here, you're not checking out the hip, new trendy restaurant in town. Star Kitchen focuses on the food and getting you in and out relatively quickly. That's the name of the game here. Once you sit you immediately start eating, and when you're too full to move a muscle they're bringing you the check and kicking it out. Don't hate the player, hate the game! It's recommended to come here with a minimum of 4 people, so you can do significant damage through the giant menu. Here are the dishes I always order when I come here and suggest:Barbecue Roasted Duck, Shrimp Dumpling, Steamed BBQ Pork Bun, Soup Dumpling, Crystal Leek Dumpling, Siu Mai, Pan Fried Turnip Cake, Fried Sesame Ball, Pan Fried Chicken Dumpling, Cilantro Dumpling, Fried Taro Cake, and Egg Custard Tart. You can't go wrong when you come here. This place screams authentic. That's why there's a lengthy line out the door every single weekend. Like clockwork. If you're looking to gain 10 pounds, come to Star Kitchen!

It's been so long since I've been back here because it's always so busy! Met up with two friends for dinner on a Monday night. Busy, but not bad compared to dim sum days. I've noticed that they have renovated their floors and it is no longer carpet. Looks nice. We were sat immediately and the wait staff was attentive and kind. We ordered a lot of food to try and share. We splurged! Lol we ordered lobster, fried chicken, tofu, beef and eggplant stir fry, and snow peas. OMG, all the dishes were so darn good. We finished pretty much everything between the 3 little bellies! Lol Along with the help of the hot tea compressing all the food! All we had left to take home was a bit of fried chicken, lobster, and beef and eggplant stir fry. There was like one small scoop left and we couldn't afford to just let it go to waste. Our dinner was delicious and our tummies came hungry. Definitely coming back for another great meal.
