Been three times. The ambience is OK noisy inside but the space outside is fun. If you know to go up the tiny little hill past the gate is ample seating, but you wouldn't know it if you just stopped your gaze at the side of the building.Service is really good, attentive, polite, unassuming, but friendly meals delivered quickly clean up without issues mellow vibe. The food however, whellllpppp.......tried about four meals, maybe 6 in total between friends, different times. Advice here is to absolutely skip the smashburger unless all you care about protein consumption. The three we had over the course of a couple of bits were pretty void of taste. not really a smash burger because it's did not appear cooked on high enough temp or with the skill required for a true and crispy and crispy smash burger. Also missing a taste opportunity with the the seasoning and the sauce as it just Just seemed to lubricate an already oily burger and ended up being a mess. Even with the expense of it I couldn't finish it either. Me and my dining companion tried another one another time and the same experienceTater tots, bland, french fries just average, nachos with the amount of chips that might come in a snack bag that you get at 7-Eleven not really keeping the price on the menu, they could do better. We did get a shrimp meal that was nice and a rather vague veggie burger.Where Standard Beer and Food really shines is the mixed drinks..Creative, and they pack a punch where they skimp on food quality they do not skimp on the drinks at all. Every drink we had was a nice experience. My suggestion would be to soak up the atmosphere and hang out and just knock back a couple with friends.

So good! Great menu with a lot of variety. It is very loud. They have outdoor seating but it was too hot. I love how it is decorated. You use a QR code to order your food and drink which is then brought to the table. I didn't like that you couldn't sub out salad dressing so I got the shrimp tacos which were good. My son got the chicken tacos which were ok. The soft taco shell fell apart easily. My husband got the veggie burger which I thought was greasy. The fries were good. I wanted their truffle fries but not for $14!!My only negative is that it is really hard to flag down someone to help you. I had to get up and get my own napkins.

Indoor and outdoor seating- seat yourself. We found seats at the bar. Several bartenders behind bar. Ours was nice but there were one or two that clearly appeared to not want to be there. Immediately served waters without asking, which I love. Our food was served pretty quick. Beers were good! Got an ipa and a sour. Service was pretty decent, although never refilled water. etc. The food was pretty good, nothing spectacular but good. The tots were good but the fries - I'll give a 2. They were seasoned well, but we both agreed they tasted like they had been fried and frozen a few times, pretty chewy- I couldn't eat them. Atmosphere was great, loved the kind of upscale casual vibe! I would give 3.5 if I could... I would come back but would not make a special trip for it.

Standard's food, drinks, and service exceeded expectations! Even on a weekday, and during a thunderstorm, it was crowded in the general seating area so we settled in the bar area and had the tots, chicken sandwich special, and a few beers/cocktails. Service was friendly and very attentive. It was a fun environment. Only negative for us was how loud it was.

I went here for dinner with a friend and really enjoyed it! It was my first time and I thought it was a great casual spot to meet with friends. There is a good amount of outdoor seating so we grabbed a picnic table. You order through your phone which made it quick and easy. I started with an Aperol spritz which was tasty. I got tacos for dinner which I also enjoyed, especially the tuna! They are pretty small and I was starving so I got four. I finished with the hibiscus ranch water which I thought was refreshing. One of the best parts is that it is next to the Raleigh City Farm so it was so nice to sit out while the flowers were blooming!

Stopped into Standard Beer & Food one afternoon while on vacation after taking the downtown historic trolley tour. They're located in a convenient little plaza with some other great local businesses. When you walk in, it looks kind of like a small food hall or brewery type setting with very open seating and a separate bar area. We chose one of the long tables since we had kind of a big group. The tables were small (width wise) and the bench seating was very uncomfortable to sit at for a long time but those tables were the only option that could seat our group. We ordered via the QR code on the tables but found out later that we did have a server which was a bit confusing. The truffle fries were great and a HUGE portion; great for sharing. I also ordered the cobb salad and the sauce that came with it was delicious. My fiancé ordered the tacos which were good but a smaller portion than the other food items we all ordered. While I didn't have anything from the bar on this occasion, they had a great selection of local beers on tap. Great spot to come hang out with friends and grab a bite. 8/10 recommend.

Bottom line: The burger and tots were pretty good at Standard Beer + Food, but the no reservations/picnic table style seating for the most part/service model was just not a positive for me personally. Averaging it all together, I come out with 3 stars, maybe 3.5 stars if we had half stars to give. The Deets:We had a meetup of work colleagues in Downtown Raleigh (DTR) recently and it was decided upon to hit Standard Beer + Food. I was eager to try this one out as I had never ventured here. Entering in, there are many picnic table style type of tables inside and a few booths. There are no reservations so you wait for a seat/table if one is not available when you go inside. Luckily after waiting a few minutes in the bar area, we were alerted that a booth opened up for use. So we found out that not only the menu is by QR code but the actual ordering is by this same QR code. Each person does their own individual order on their phone. Now I realize in the recent past, this service model may have had its necessities and uses but in 2024, I am not a fan of being my own waitstaff when I sit at a table for a full meal out. The reason was more apparent as the night went on as there were different runners bringing each individual order out at varying times and instead of saying the person's name that ordered the one item being brought one at a time at different times, they stated what the food was they were holding. More than one of us ordered a burger with tots, so it got a bit confusing and we realized the burger orders were placed with the wrong people. If you have that much staff that it's a different person each time a different order is brought out to the table, then maybe there is enough staff to actually take the orders AND deliver them, one assigned to the table for consistency? Just a ponder on my part. Food wise, it was the most positive point of this visit. The charcuterie board was good and enjoyable. The Standard Smash Burger was pretty tasty. The tater tots were OK (tots are always good most of the time, right?) but they were not the best tots I've ever experienced. I noticed one of my colleagues did not touch her sandwich at all and it went back to the kitchen pretty much intact. I had ordered a Diet Coke and it came out as one small glass bottle of Diet Coke (? 8 oz ?) with a small glass to pour it into, so I am guessing no refills on a small amount of soda costing $3 (I didn't even try). Food wise, I could see me going around 4 stars here but the layout/service model/etc. has me taking a star from that and I am going with 3 stars (maybe it would be 3.5 stars if I could go there but I just can't go with 4 stars unfortunately at this time).

This was my first time visiting standard and I'm upset I haven't been sooner. It's nicely designed and the aesthetic was trendy yet inviting. You seat yourself and either order from your table or if you sit at the bar, you order with bartenders. It was pretty crowded but snagged a bar seat within 10 minutes. I had to work so I opted for a mojito mocktail which was refreshing and delicious. The drink menu was wonderful, so if you're not a beer drinker, you will still be satisfied and I liked that they had mocktails offerings on the menu. For dinner I got the wedge salad with blackened shrimp and a side of fries. The fries were so good, I ate them all before I even touched the salad. They were perfectly cooked and crisp. The salad was huge! I only ate about half of it. There were a bit too many frizzled onions for me but the combination of flavors was wonderful and the shrimp as cooked to perfection. Overall this was a wonderful dining experience and I look forward to bring back.

Standard is 100% a Raleigh gem. I was here super often during the Summer. They have a pretty impressive outdoor patio and the interior is also spacious. I love how easy it is to order here, you just scan the QR code at your table and order. Soon enough your drinks and food arrive. It's perfect if you have a toddler who doesn't have the patience to wait around at restaurants, but you need to get out of the house. The food is really delicious! The roasted onion dip is perfect for sharing as are their tots with truffle sauce. The smash burger is pretty awesome, as is the skirt steak taco. Their standard green salad is also surprisingly satisfying. Bonus, they also have a kids menu with a hot dog on it, my son usually goes with that. They also have a great variety of rotating drinks. Quite a few interesting options on tap and frozen options. Things like a frozen gin and tonic and a draft manhattan. Right now I see they even have a draft espresso martini. Standard is simply and awesome place with a great atmosphere, tasty food, and creative drinks!
